So what do you think? Would you decorate a room in gold? Do you like the look? Love to know, always what you think. As always, hope you have an enchanting day!
I'm a huge fan of gold interiors, whether the gold be in the textiles, furnishings or paint on the trim...it adds elegance and sophistication to a space.
ReplyDeleteSplashes of subtle (brown) golds, introduced with the softness of warm whites appeal to me. Everything that Barry Dixon does I'm in awe of, love his rooms you have shown. Also adore the sumptuous bedroom by Jan Showers. xo
ReplyDeleteAn all gold is a little subdued for me...but I do love the way it allows accessories like the leopard ottoman to really pop. I much prefer gold furniture like Anne Selke's canopy bed - that's a gorgeous bedroom!! xo KO
ReplyDeleteI've always loved a touch of gold: lamp or mirror, but that gold canopy bed could have me changing my mind!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rooms, I admire the really decadent ones but couldnt' see myself (or my little ones) living in such a formal space. But my they are beautiful. My favorite two are Jan Showers dining room and that foyer that you say has a layered effect. Both just perfect in my book.
ReplyDeleteLove gold and your new look from Shari! xx
ReplyDeleteOK that mirror and lamps in the first image grabbed me…love them! That cozy reading corner would have to be my favorite in fact I would love to try to copy that style. It’s neutral without being boring and looks relaxed without being shabby chic. That cozy breakfast nook by Barry Dixon it fabulous too, I think my style preference is showing. I don’t think I could do a whole room in gold but love touches of it.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE those rooms!
ReplyDeleteI am in the midst of doing a faux gold leaf on my dining room ceiling. I have a tutorial on my blog...simple but arduous! I have ordered gold leaf to gild my grotto stool but it has not arrived.
I have to be careful, lest my home start to look as if it belongs to the Shah of Iran!
You had me at the first picture, love that gold painted motif on the wall, beautiful.

PS Thanks for dropping by, just go get those horses, looks like you'll have the space and it's it's a great form of exercise!
Absolutely love those rooms, especially Jan Showers and Barry Dixon. I did my living room in gold silk with chocolate walls but haven't successfully mastered layering, lots of inspiration in this post especially incorporating textures and natural elements. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI tend to like touches as well. I think elements of gold and/or gilding add a glamorous touch even to a rustic room. I'm with several other readers who admired the Anne Selke bed - fabulous!!
ReplyDeletethese are quite beautiful. I love touches of gold not sure if I could go all out though, but I do admire them.
ReplyDeleteLove gold. Always have, always will. Some beautiful interiors here. The fussier ones aren't to my personal taste but like many others here, I've always been a huge Barry Dixon fan.
ReplyDeleteThe contemporary room with all white chairs and daybed with gold gilt frames was to die for. My idea of Modern or Contemporary. Still warm. Great post.
Thank you for your lovely comment today! And glad that you discovered me! I have popped over to visit you as requested and have found some great postings.
ReplyDeleteYou have gathered an amazing collection of gold rooms here. I love the white living room with the bright flowers and gold-kissed furniture by the sunny window by Orlando Diaz Azcuy.

Great post. So rich and chic! I love all the chandeliers...
ReplyDeleteI love little touches of gold--a chair frame here, a gilded mirror there, on a chandelier suspended over a French farm table with a lovely worn patina. Thanks so much for popping over last Friday... how fun that you get to build your dream home, such a rewarding adventure!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the Samantha Lyman room & also the wonderful reading corner/nook! I suppose with a talented, experienced designer one can very easily pull off a room with gold as the predominant color. However, with my talents, I would stick to gold in accents, accessories, & some fabrics in small doses such as pillows or that fabulous leopard/tiger (not sure which it actually is) print ottoman.
ReplyDeleteA hint of gold in every room is a must for me, but these rooms of gold are amazing!! So glamorous yet livable - the Jan Showers living room...perfection!!
ReplyDeleteLove all of the pics above, but I am a bit of a Jan Showers fanatic....so I think she really knows how to do them best!
ReplyDeleteI think gold gives off a glow that makes everyone look fabulous!

Loving all these gold room examples. The rooms just glow. I might consider adding more gold into my home although I'm pretty much a silver girl. Still I do have touches of antique gold here and there.
ReplyDeleteLike a bit of black in an interior, gold gives any room a wonderful glow. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteI love the warmth of these rooms.Your blog is beautiful and I am a happy follower now.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words on my blog.

Tina,
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of gold across the board in one shade or another. It inspires me also and makes my heart sing. Gold in fabrics, wallpaper, hardware, trim, beading, fringe, lampshades, tassels. etc. I find goes with most other colors too. I just added some pillows in two rooms and the right shade takes some sourcing time.
Hunting and gathering (sourcing) is so worth
it when you've found exactly what works. It keeps performing in sunlight or evening light. So of course I really enjoyed these photo's.

Tina, I was just looking over this blog you did in March and your blogs on Chinoiserie. The decisions are asking for help with are right here in these blogs. You like the golden yellow tones..pick the Schumacher wallpaper. The second mirror choice is shown several times. Also, the second french chair in your post has the look of the chairs featured in these photos. I just finished my home in golden yellows/creams, green/blues and mocha/creams. It turned out very beautiful. I was so tired cream. It was pretty but boring. My next layer is wallpaper. I will be using toile (red/white) and antique watercolor florals. I'm not a big fan of the chinoiserie with asian figures. Like the other comment, I feel like their faces are too harsh and a little scary! Hope this inspires you...
ReplyDeleteI love decorating with gold and the pictures on your blog are stunning. Just wrote my first blog last night and I am totally clueless about blogging, as soon as I find it I hope to post pictures of some rooms that I used gold and they are very elegant. ReplyDeleteI sure love the decorations of the rooms on this blog.
ReplyDeleteThey are very inspring for the dollhouses I make and decorate!
You *actually* wrote "gilded in gold." Wow. Are you aware that "gilded" means "done in gold"?
