Bonfire of the vanities....

Be sure to read below this post all about my exciting giveaway...a gorgeous french chair!

Oh boy, its "flu season" around this neighborhood, my son is sick, I am under the weather and we know dozens of people also not feeling so well. Hope you all take good care of yourselves, I hear its making its rounds. Tis the season! It is hard to imagine that one day within the next few months, the snow will slowly fade away and bright green grass will emerge, animals will come out of hibernation and once again we will feel the rush of fresh warm air. All signs that spring has sprung! But no matter, what the weather...the house biz continues!
In planning multiple bathrooms at once, the last thing I want (and a definite pet peeve of mine) is for all the bathrooms to look like cookie cutters of one another. Today, through the endless selection of stones, wallpaper, lighting, and vanities/sinks, you can actually create a bathroom with a lot of character. It is a room where you can get very creative and produce a real showstopper bathroom.
In planning a number of bathrooms for the new house now, I am amazed and often overwhelmed by the ridiculous array of choices in vanities today. My, have things changed since we were building about eight or nine years ago! Besides the custom route (which we are doing for three of the bathrooms) there are many different readily available vanities and the choices are endless. I have collected a number of images that reflect a whole host of styles but all of them interesting, new and beautiful. Let me know if you have a favorite!

  3. First I hope you are feeling better soon!
Second, I just discovered your blog and have spent most of my morning reading through all of your posts - your blog is incredible and so full of eye candy! I can only imagine how exciting it is to be building such a gorgeous dream home! I particulary love today's post, mainly because my bathroom is in such a sad state and really needs an update so any inspiration in that department is definitely welcome! But I did enjoy your pics from your Paris trip - even though I've been there a few times now, I just never tire of it - I feel as if I just went there again through your photos!
I'm now a happy follower! I don't know if your giveaway is open to Canadians, but if so, please count me in and if not, I'll still be happily following along whether I win that beauty or not! xo

  5. Although all the bathrooms you have shown are generally attractive, I prefer not to see the undersides of the lavatory bowls exposed, as in the first photo and others.

  7. Having just recovered from the bug we can sympathize, and send "feel better soon" wishes to the entire clan.

Lovely selections, the "petite single vanity" is charming and a look I love, as well as the all white photo at the other end of the spectrum.

One of each please, and a place to put them! :)

  8. While I have pedestal sinks in every bathroom, were I to do it over, I would opt for one of the lovely bow front vanities for storage. I would also opt for a beautifully framed mirror that would swing out, revealing a medicine cabinet behind it. Enjoying your posts.

  9. love the various bath interiors! I loved the powder room with the cobalt blue walls! but only for a powder room as a wow factor. the pink or the pink & green I would love for my girls' bath only. otherwise, I did love the subway tiles of carerra marble and black scone light fixutres...pretty and made a statement without being too loud. I would select that for a my master bath.

  10. Funny I have your first image in my file folder, love that powder room. That style of sink is what I’m going with in our master bath only double when we renovate this spring. Storage won’t be a problem since we have an entire wall of great storage. So how are you feeling Tina? I hope better today. I live in the middle of nowhere so no people, no germs unless my husband brings me something I don’t want. Get lots of rest!Wonderful timely post!

These are super show stoppers for many bathroom/power rooms. I'm the in beginning planning stages for bathrooms in my home and these photos get the point across. They need to fabulous spaces with ritual enhancing qualities about them. I'll take one of each!
