Good late Monday afternoon sweetpeas, and how was your weekend? Ours was unexpectedly relaxing, spent a lot of time at home (always a treat) as we were trying to dig out of the approx. 22 inches that fell around here! It was quite the snowstorm. If you missed my pictures, seeing is believing you must check it out, click here. Now that mother nature has shown us who's in charge...I am totally ready to zoom into spring!
How I love velvet.... I actually always have had a thing for it but in recent years, my love has escalated to an obsession. And there's no cure in sight. Kind of like the blue and white affliction....oh well at least it's all in the name of beauty. I adore velvet, its luscious texture, soft sheen and coziness make it a fabric I could easily have in every room.
It is as beautiful in a living, dining or library as it is a study or bedroom. Add a beautiful trim to a solid color velvet and the result is nothing short of spectacular! As I am decorating my own home, I have more than a handful of ideas of how and where I plan to incorporate velvet. And seriously this is one fabric that looks just amazing in every single color, I have yet to see a color it doesn't rock in!

ReplyDeleteHow pretty each and every room is! Favorite would be the dark blue velvet ottoman paired with the cream sofa and floral rug. Our snow here in Northeast Ohio melted overnight, we were not hit with the East Coast storm, seeing green for the first time in a month. The thaw may be coming your way too, watch out for flooding now!

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I only have one small velvet chair in a gold/tan color which is so pretty but think I need more velvet in my life. I love the idea of a velvet headboard and a tufted ottoman. So many great ideas here, Tina. Hope you are clearing out some of that snow, it was fun to see in pictures but I have to say having endured many many cold and snowy winters in Boston while I was in college/grad school was enough to last me a lifetime! It is beautiful though.

We love velvet in any color and have just ordered yards of Kravet Ocean Blue velvet to recover a couch. And with the weather we're having, how nice is it to curl up on a velvet couch with a book and a throw! We're all dug out and getting wet.

Already a fan and would use it in my house if I didn't have young kids. I'm guessing velvet and sticky fingers don't mix. I do love it in sofas and chairs, but those curtains are the height of opulence and luxury. Glorious!

I just ordered a sectional in this color because its what I love and wanted. Well you know, the second guessing starts and my son even said... hmmm, turquoise velvet mom, that sounds a little tacky. So now I can be assured that I am going to love it. Im doing camel velvet with camel and teal fringed pillows on it too. After seeing that banquette, I might need to throw a little animal print on it too... I'll show them...tacky!! Thanks for the perfect post today. Pam G.

Tina, I also noticed one of the paintings in the first pictures was the one your husband purchased that you have hanging now. It is beautiful. I love this and it looks wonderful in your home and I am still hoping for the name/artist of the sheep painting in your friend's home (mantle decorated with the owls). Anyway,

I LOVE velvet!!!! I think it is such a beautiful fabric and I agree with you that it looks fabulous in every color and almost any place. I prefer it in the dark jewel tones.

Hi Tina! I love velvet and use it all the time for my clients. I especially love antique velvet since the nap is a bit more casual and tends to be more forgiving. The purple velvet is insane and I have to say I have the same pictures pinned on my Pinterest! Great minds as usual :)

My thoughts are that I love velvet and now am thinking of ways I can add more to my home! I love the navy ottoman and that beautiful French chair, I seem to gravitate more towards teh blues and earth tones though like you said there isn't a bad color in velvet. ReplyDeleteI agree, velvet is so glamorous and warm and in great vibrant colours, against ornate or gold/silver frames it can completely lift a room, pulling together a design. The above pictures are great - my favorites have to be the teal French bench - which was made for that foyer and also the stunning chaise in purple velvet.
