Which would you choose? Beauty edition!

Hi there hope you had a wonderful weekend. So..did you watch the Golden Globes last night? I did, was happy to see Ben recognized, especially after the Oscar snubs. Overall I was a little disappointed in the fashion...I often walk away thinking with all the resources known to mankind at their fingertips, that's the best they can do? Some were wonderful, others well......had plenty of room for improvement. I think a few stylists heads may roll today. And then there was Jodie's speech, so many were left scratching their heads over that one......But fun...yes, always fun to watch! Thanks to everyone for weighing in on my post yesterday about Golden Globes fashion. I will share the results later in the week.  We went to a wine tasting dinner which was such fun, lots to learn but the education is definitely the fun part. Took down all my Christmas decor, made me a little sad...suddenly that Christmas magic is in the attic, feels a little barren without it. Maybe next year I will leave it up until Valentines!

Today's Which would you choose is a fun one and one that I hope will generate a lot of comments and feedback. Beauty. Lets just pretend, the beauty fairies came to you and said you can only use one beauty product from now on...just ONE! Which would you choose? Which is that one product you cannot imagine life without? Would be it that perfect shade of lipstick, your favorite bronzer, that 911 in a tube, mascara or your favored moisturizer?

So here we go....you get to pick just one. And in the comments if you have a product you really cannot live without and just swear by, tell us about it! One of the wonderful perks of blogging is the sharing of information and i cannot tell you how many fabulous ideas i have gotten this way! So its your turn, here we go..........

CHOICE 1 Lipstick

 CHOICE 2 Bronzing powder

CHOICE 3 Lipliner

CHOICE 4 Eyeshadow

CHOICE 5 Foundation
CHOICE 6 Mascara
CHOICE 7 Concealer
CHOICE 8 Eyeliner
CHOICE 9 Highlighter

CHOICE 10 Moisturizer
CHOICE 11 Facial scrub
CHOICE 12 Facial mask
I know I know, kind of hard to narrow it down to just one right? I mean normally it requires a mini battalion of "helpers" to accentuate our beauty that is naturally already there :) OK if you really have to pick more than one, go ahead. Which are most important? Which could you just not imagine living without? And is there any one or two products in your beauty treasure chest that are just "must haves"? Do tell!

  1. Hi Tina, fun topic! For me, I would have to say lipstick and my facial moisturizer. I feel my best when I have a little color on my lips and my skin looks moist and refreshed.
My favorite lipstick is Chanel, a perfect blend and beautiful colors. Have used them for years.
And for moisturizer, despite the cost, La Mer works very well for me, keeps my skin very supple and I am mistaken for being much younger than my 46 years!

  2. Great and fun post, I would have to say I need a little foundation powder and lipstick and mascara when I am just running out. I love Philosophy skincare products and for makeup Bare Minerals.

  3. Hi Tina! For me it's lipstick. I don't wear any makeup on my face, just full face moisturizer. I'm a Shiseido White Lucent girl. Lipstick gives me a nice fresh, pop of color on my face - in fact, can you tell us what shade that MAC lipstick is!? It looks lovely!

  4. Great post and it really got me thinking! I knew I couldn't pick just one so was glad at the end you said we didn't have to! I would have to pick three! Lip gloss for me ( not lipstick) , concealer for my dark circles from lack of sleep and bronzer! There,,,with those three things I can make it! I'm also very addicted to my Kiehls moisturizer! Have a great week, Tina!

  5. Good morning my sweet friend!

I was going to take the Christmas decoration down during this weekend too, but the kids asked to leave for a little longer. I couldn't say no! :-)

I love many of these products and have tried many of them (I LOVE cosmetics!!!) but I swear by Revlon eye liner. It very affordable (under $10) and it has the perfect color and texture.

Other than that, I'd choose the mascara. I can't live w/out it. :-)

    Have a blessed week, Tina.

  6. Oooh this one is tricky - I'd say probably moisturizer, highlighter or mascara, probably in that order. It really depends on the day! I have such dry skin I'd probably have to choose moisturizer, but my go to daily beauty wear is usually just a little mascara and little cheek color or a little highlighter so it's hard to say goodbye to those!

  7. The Jurlique Moisturizer and a great Mascara (as it seems my eyelashes have disappeared!)Love this post!

  9. Great idea for a post. I am a product junkie to the core. I love Mario Badesco products, my skin looks better than ever. I use concealer, lipstick, lipline and a light brown shadow during the day. Chanel makes a great concealer and I love Lancome and Mac lipsticks but I am known to have fun in drug stores too and pick up a bunch of cheap thrills just to try out new colors and looks!

  10. AHHHHHH, this has thrown me into a panic....the stuff nightmares are made of. I guess if I had to choose, I would pick concealer...I will look like like death warmed over without lipstick, blush and eyeliner, but without concealer to cover my undereye circles, I will be constantly fielding the, " Are you okay? You look tired, blah, blah...." comments!

  11. I have to pick two!! My moisturizer, found it in Paris and it is affordable, and it works wonders on my dry skin. Lip gloss, I am an addict to Bobbi Brown's Lilac sugar, it makes any and all lipsticks look wonderful.
Great minds think alike, I did my post on skincare tried and true products today....

My next post is going to be on make-up!! Don't you just love being a girl!
Thanks for your visit and comment today, I am just like YOU, love it when my readers leave such good advice.

  12. I'm with Hazel. I have to have concealer to look awake and alive. Lipstick is a close second!

  13. Mascara! When I am in a rush (which at 40 I try NOT to do, lol) and can't go through the whole routine, I ALWAYS grab mascara first! If Mascara isn't available it's lipstick and sunglasses! :)

  15. This is a tough one, Tina! I have never been a big makeup person but now that I have passed the big 5-0 it's something that I don't like to leave the house without. Of your options, I would choose concealer. But of all the products in the world, I would probably say tinted moisturizer and Nars Illuminator.

I also took my Christmas decos down yesterday but they are all piled in my dining room - good for you for packing everything up for the attic. That's my job for today and tomorrow!

  16. This is the easiest choice I'll probably ever have with your "Which Would You Choose?" series, it is concealer. Hands down, unequivocally, concealer. I use Bobbi Brown products, but in a pinch will take any brand, I won't leave home without it!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I need and use it all Lol! Even if I'm just running to the gym or grocery store I always wear a eye liner and number moisturizer;)

Enjoy your Monday! The high will be 28 degrees again today and I can feel it in my skin!

  18. I'm so inclined to say mascara, because if i'm not wearing anything else, I look done-up in mascara. But I try to make my beauty lessons from the French and they believe you should invest your money into skincare, not make-up. Because if your skin is terrible, no amount of pricey make-up can fix that. So I'll go with moisturizer (with SPF of course!)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't actually wear any makeup! I used to, but after I married hubby told me he liked me better without it...so I took to the sink and washed it off. I LOVE not having to spend big bucks on makeup, and honesty I think my skin looks good & healthy! So...if I had to pick one of these I'd go with the moisturizer - I still do need to use that from time to time, especially in the winter!

  20. I wanted to comment on taking down the Christmas decor, too - I don't think most people know this (especially if you see the stores where Valentine's Day stuff is out the day after New Years...bleh!) but the Christmas season actually extends until February 2nd, the Feast of the Purification of Mary. So...at our house we leave up the tree & decor until then! :) So...you *could* leave up your Christmas decor until then too! :)

    1. I was wondering why so many of you were just now taking down your decorations! In Texas, at least among my friends, everything gets put away on Dec. 26. Maybe the tree stays up 1 extra day.

  21. there is no way I can pick one.....I would have to say all! shoot...I don't leave the house with out make-up!

  22. Hi Tian I agree about Jodie's speech...what the hell was that all about? She sounded crazy and delusional! I also felt the show was a little bit of a letdown but happy to see Quentin and Ben both take awards, also Daneil Day Lewis, Anne H. and Hugh J all so deserving. Fashions were so so , more misses than hits.

I love makeup, and probably spend more than I would care to know on it. It makes me feel good and my skin is pale so a bronzer is high on my list, love Guerlains. I also love Clinique mascara and all my skin care is from Bliss. Good products that really agree with my skin. Oh and one more thing, hair related swear by Kerastase products, they are amazing.

  23. LOVE my foundation from Stila. It makes me skin looks so flawless. Also that Nars stick is awesome. I use it on my shoulder and body. A scrub is very important to your face once a month too. I like this post!

  24. This is hard, no way I can choose one. I would say lipstick, bronzer and moisturizer. I cannot leave the house wihtout them. Am a big Lancome fan across the board!

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is tricky! My routine is moisturize, bronzer, lipstick, eyeliner, curl lashes....hmmmm....maybe lipstick seeing as my mom always asks if I'm feeling ok when I'm not wearing any.....

    ReplyDelete
  26. I guess I'd say lipstick, but really it's either all or nothing for me. I do love my La Mer gel. Favorite moisturizer ever.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I would choose number 12. Can't go wrong with a good firming mask!
All of your selections look wonderful.

  28. Going with Moisturizer with SPF, can't beat great looking skin.

  29. Concealer--although I REALLY need lipstick and mascara too. I'm very pale--hate that--so without makeup I look washed out. I use Laura Mercier. Oh!! New product I'm using--Mercier's Brow Definer. I'm in my 60's and sadly eyebrows dwindle at that age : ( My makeup person at Laura Mercier has really helped my " look" with this very soft looking product.

  32. Hello Tina!

I hope you had a great weekend, did not watch the Globes, I was watching Downton Abbey and a documentary on slavery. But I did see the fashions, lots of beautiful dress and some not so nice.

As for this post...the only thing I cannot live without is eye liner.

    Have a great day!

  33. We'd never leave without concealer (#7) for those under eye bags and blush (#8) to give a bit of color to our winter cheeks - but then again, we'd be nothing without our moisturizer and scrub! This is way too hard a decision for a Monday. Hope you're well, Tina, and off to a great start this week.

  34. I really NEED moisturizer because I have such dry skin- especially in the winter...and if I could pick just one moisturizer it would be Pond's Cold Cream-I know-crazy, huh? And then, lipstick.....gotta have a bit of color on my mouth...and with lipstick...you can mix it with a bit of moisturizer and have "blush". Great post- xo Diana

  35. only one? seriously? i love makeup. i guess the lipstick will do since i can use it for blush and not look like a corpse.

i am actually organizing my stash today and shopping online for stuff i need. i have some terrific votre vu products i'll be blogging about. i like it all! chanel, bobbie brown, dior!

  36. Loved the Golden Globes this year. Amy and Tina just felt fresh and fun. And, was thrilled to see win's for Homeland (a cult fav of mine, along with Downton Abbey...I know...polar opposites) and for Ben and Argo, which I haven't seen, but can just tell I would!

Now, for beauty.....it is a tie for me. Lipstick and concealer! I love that particular concealer you highlighted...the best I have found. And, I've learned, that if I at least have lipstick on, I don't feel completely washed out.

    Now...on to the Oscars!!

  39. Oh Tina, so fun...and makes one really consider and look at the face (just did and without foundation, not so great!)...actually, ...well it would be the black mascara and lots of sleep, to avoid the need for a concealer or foundation. Mascara makes every woman more sultry sexy. When we were sailing in Italy, my skin was the best after so many years of dry air in Calgary, I could not believe...how fabulous one can look...so if you give me a choice of only ONE product, it is Mascara and MOVING to Italy ((:
has to be this combination...My hubby would say it will be cheaper if I sleep more and convince the fairy to give me foundation too...
    hugs Z

  40. Welllll....of course I wanted to say "ALL" of them...but then that wouldn't be what you want to know! SO....It's between #5 Mascara and #6 Concealer....Not sure I could live with one of those!!! But if I can't have both...I'll say Mascara!!!!

  41. Love La Prarie. Great products, especially the caviar cream. Love all makeup, Bobbi Brown, Mac, Shiseido and Chanel amongst my favorites. I love makeup, love dressing up and love being a girly girl so there is no such thing as having too much. Its my innocent vice! Fun post and adore your blog.

  42. Tina: I've always loved good makeup, cleansers and moisturizers! But, it's not been until the last 4-5 months I was introduced to Mary Kays, TIme Wise repair system, that I really fell in LOVE. Their face cleanser, serum, time-wise moisturizer and exfoliate is to DIE for! I've really noticed a difference in my skin tone and texture. I look fresher, rested, and certainly feels so much softer. I'M IN LOVE. I wouldn't want to do without the moisturizer if I only had one choice. If I can't wear makeup, then at least my skin will look healthy and fresh!

    Regards,

    Donna

  43. This is the best which would you choose ever!!! I love all beauty products but if I had to choose one from your list it would be bronzer, it brightens up your whole face. The two items that are missing and a necessity are an eyelash curler and lip balm.... with droppy eyelashes and chapped lips I feel UGLY, these items make me feel beautiful!!!! More beauty blogs please!!!!!!! What about a which would you choose MAKEOVER?????? SO fun!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Well, it's a tough one, as I only use one kind of makeup! Bare Escentials! I've been through SO many brands, and this is the very very best for dry or slightly blotchy skin. It works miracles. I use their entire line and nothing else now.
And yes, Kathysue and I both did posts on skin care today...we timed it so they would come out the same day! Then Janell at House of Fifty also had something, as did Ridgely! Seems it's on everyone's mind these winter days.

  45. If I could only use one, it would have to be lipstick (though I use a lipgloss) - feel like it brightens my whole face. So glad I don't really have to choose just one, though. Happy Monday!!

  46. I've got to have it all. It's all or nothing for me and I never leave the house
without Genie Line Smoother or something like it that temporarily smooths the lines
    in my face.

  47. Have to have moisturizer from your list. My favorite product is Bobbi Brown eye make-up remover. It's the best. No oily residue after using it!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Lipstick... hands down!!! Then followed by mascara. I never go anywhere without lipstick!

  55. Absolutely have to have my moisturizer, even if I cannot use any foundation and actually have left the house like this many times; however, I still need an eyeliner and mascara to bring out the eyes, and then lipcolor is needed so that I don't look so pale! Carol P.

  56. Hi Tina, moisturizer for me first and foremost then the makeup. I am an all or nothing girl and i like the all better than nothing...haha. Chanel and Jurlique are two lines I have been using a lot of lately.

The Golden Globes I thought was so so, Amy and Tina were fun though. I wished Les Mis had won bigger but it was not to be. The fashions weren't that great, thought Anne. H. looked great and Jennifer Lawrence, but I agree many disappointments. Jodie was her typical provocative self, that is who she is, should not have been a surprise. I am not a fan of hers but I do agree that the media delves far too deep into celebrity personal lives. Lets see what the Oscars brings!

Have a great day, Tina and I love your blog.

  57. Tina,
So much fun. Wow, it IS hard to choose just one. I don't have drawers full of make up, everything I have is what I use on a regular basis, therefore can go in a travel bag. I would have to say though, if I had to pick just one, it would be moisturizer. I always 'put my face on' and don't go out without unless going to the gym. I feel better 'accentuating' what God gave me!
    xx

  58. Lipstick would have to be my choice. I can go without the rest, but the lips have to be done!

  60. So easy...It would be Maybellines Pink and Green tube Mascara...I have been wearing it since I was 13 years old...I am 55 in a few months...I have had younger girls/women, walk up to me at the mall and other places, stare, and ask,"What mascara do you use?". Well you know the answer. Try it, you will not be disappointed!

  62. I don't think it would surprise anyone to hear that I would choose the moisturizer. I have been using it with sunscreen (SPF) very day since I was 16 which is why I have next to no wrinkles despite my heavy rockstar lifestyle. :) Lipstick would be #2 but I can't tell you why just quite yet. We just met. What a beautiful blog you have here filled with such beautiful things. Can't wait to explore!

  63. I think lipstick (or tinted gloss) always gives me a boost. And I love Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer. So, what's your mandatory item, Tina?

  64. Did not watch a minute of the Golden Globes....Watched two episodes of Downton Abbey...next morning all the news was about Jodie Foster.....don't know why those people and the media think we care about their twisted sex lives.....

  65. Hello Tina! You are too cute! Okay two things I absolutely cannot live without is my foundation (I use LancĂ´me) and my eyeliner (loreal). Well not ever leave home without these! Ever! Lol! True story! Anyway I was scratching my head about Jodie too..... I really loved Adele. She was genuinely adorable and humble. Love that and I love Ben Affleck! I love him! XO fun post!

  67. Yikes!! The thought of using JUST ONE! OK, but this is fun. I'd go with highlighter. It's the one thing I use when I'm wearing no makeup-- YSL's Touche Eclat. On the brow bone it brightens, removing the need for shadow, and it brightens the corners of the eyes and conceals under them as well as the lovely "parentheses" around the mouth. That's the one I would pick.

Have a good rest of your week!

    Please, share your go-to products!!

  70. Hi Tina! I agree about the fashion at the Globes - nothing too exciting. But Amy Poehler and Tina Fey were hysterical. I think I would die without moisturizer -and with SPF, even better. I would miss my lipstick and concealer, though! XOXO

  71. Oh gosh, now you've done it! I LOVE make-up but I have to admit working out of my home has made me kind of lax at times. I love mascara and lipstick and lipgloss. I have bought every mascara out there and cannot live without the brand Make Up Forever. I had lots of fun with a gift set of mascara a from Sephora last Christmas. I still haven't gone through all of them. There must have been varieties. Love lipgloss and the delivery of Mally.
