Baby blues in grown up spaces!

Happy Monday to you! Hope everyone had a great weekend and a happy Fathers day was spent with all the dads in your life.  I must confess....I am a blueaholic. (OK yes, I know that is not really a word but a word I coined for all those obsessed with blue like me) I so  love the color in everything from decor to clothing to my car color to just about anything for that matter. Blues rock! I love them from the palest shyest blues to the darkest boldest navy's. There are few blues that I don't embrace or see the beauty in. One palette that I have always loved and been drawn to is a soft baby blue, even with a hint of gray, its such a soothing, serene, calming and elegant color.
I am planning on my master bedroom being done in creams and pale pale blues. I cannot wait to start pulling it together, right now I am working on the carpeting and will go from there. I am not rushing, as I want it to be right therefore I will do my darnest from making hasty decisions. So in my quest for a beautiful pale blue master bedroom I have naturally acquired quite a lovely little collection of pictures for inspiration as you might imagine! Thought I might share them with you for all you blue lovers out there and for those of you aren't maybe I will make a convert out of you yet!! Here we go....onto a dreamy pale blue cloud!

  3. Hello Tina:
Although blue is so often considered to be a 'cold' colour, your images show that with the correct complementary tones it does not have to be.

Whenever we have decorated with blue we tend to favour a chalky,French grey tint and do so agree with you that blue can combine beautifully in so many ways to give an elegant finish.

  5. Yumminess! I'm a great fan of pale blues. My living room is done in soft tan and blue, and our bedroom is a soft blue with a darker tan, so I would be hard pressed to pick a favourite here!

  17. Tina, Oh yes I have used this color in my master bedroom forever. In fact my master has never not had some form of blue in it. Right now it is exactly this color scheme. Pale blue and cream and I can not see me ever changing it. I had to make up my own formula for the blue because there was not a blue that was pale enough without looking like a baby boys room at the time so I worked with my tinter to get the palest loveliest blue. In fact when the painters firs started painting they thought it was too light and when they were done they said they could not believe how pretty it was. It is a color that my blood pressure lowers when I walk into the room. I love it and I know you will love yours too!!! Kathysue

  20. Oh so gorgeous! I love pale blue, especially for my bedroom. One of my favorite colors I've used was a Benjamin Moore paint called Ocean Air. It was perfect with the light in my last house. These are great photos; I'll be adding many to my Pinterest page!

  22. There is a reason this color seems to resonate with men and women, poor and rich, no matter what ethnicity you are. A truly likable color to all human beings. Some fine example of why that is. Lovely.

  25. Lovely pictures..I really love that dressing room-with the draperies. Isn't it funny that blue is one of the colors that kind of comes and gos...and people always seem to come back to it because of the serenity it brings to a room? xo Diana

  26. Tina, Tina, Tina. You have chosen my favorites today. I am ready to go get some baby blue dye and wash everything in my house in it, or maybe accidentally wash my new jeans in with the sheets. Oops.
My kitchen walls are baby blue and this color goes with everything. Just add white to change the richness.
    Have a great day.

  29. Tina,
As I mentioned before I have a bluish/greyish bedroom and I love it. This is one of my fav posts of yours.
I almost consider certain blues to be neutrals since they tend to look fantastic with almost anything.
And Phoebe does blue as well as anyone.
    Have a great week!

  42. It took a few tries but I love the blue on the walls of my master bedroom and the cream and light blue embroidered bed linens. I have been like you in taking my time with all the details. Still need drapes and went through your post twice for inspiration. I was thinking of doing a solid cream linen with a trim but so many of the photos have a pattern and it works so well. So, I am open to new possibilities ...thank you for that!

  43. I love this post! I can't believe I forgot to comment yesterday! I was busy with the little rascal. I'm probably going to save every one of the images (that I don't already have) for my inspiration files. Obviously I love a pale blue. I think finding the perfect blue is as much of an art form as finding the perfect white. I love to mix blues and creams especially in a bedroom! I looove that blue gray chinoiserie bedroom. Soo fabulous!

  44. Love blue too! While growing up for some reason, my older sister received everything pink, and I, blue! I wasn't disappointed! So many shades! Some say the color that represents heaven is yellow! I say, it's heavenly blue!
