Though these aren't my colors (but am using a black range) this kitchen is very French feeling and certainly feels warm and inviting...you just know something delicious is being created there!

A pretty painted hutch can be a beautiful addition too

Beautiful rich woods with limestone hood and iron light fixture..all hallmarks of a great French kitchen
If space allows for it, a pretty antique hutch is a great way to break up a sea of cabinetry
A nice collection of copper pots...a must!
A gorgeous slab of Calacutta Gold marble on the countertops..is a must!
Beautiful array of Le Cruset pots in a rainbow of colors awaiting a cassoulet or my Beef Bourguignon!

A beautiful old antique scale.....must have
I am not using stone, but think it looks beautiful here in this French inspired rustic kitchen
Another beautiful Francois and Co. limestone hood
If you are lucky enough to have a fireplace in your kitchen, limestone looks fabulously rich, warm and inviting in a kitchen..finish it off with blue and white of course!
My current chairs..have had them for 7 years but love them and don't want to part...how cute is this fabric! (please don't comment on the floors- we are in a rental..lol)
A great little fruit bowl/stand "french inspired" I picked up years ago..think it will work perfectly in the new kitchen!
Love the pugs! They are whimsical but elegant...

An oldie but goodie! Great inspirational photo
Of course, an abundance of great looking french towels.....
OK I know theoretically this dinnerware is English, featuring British castles..but I have used this pattern in my kitchen for everyday meals for the last 8 years and love it and don't want to give it up! (Plus I think its very European)
A nice pair of salt and pepper grinders
A great little chalkboard if you have the wall space, is a nice touch
And of course, plenty of French cookbooks! You can never have too many.....
A great little book with all kinds of fabulously French images...French Touch by Jan De Luz
Do you have a great idea for a French inspired kitchen? I love hearing back from all you trendsetters and would love to know your ideas. Have a wonderful day. If you are plagued with this miserable weather we are having in NY.....please be safe. Au Revoir!
Reclaimed limestone floors would be amazing! Or how about reclaimed wood floors in a pattern - herringbone? Did you know that Calcutta Gold is very hard to get right now. The slabs that are available are not very good here in the South. We have been talking to the suppliers down here and they say the good slabs are being bought at the quarries in mass quantities and are not even making it to the US market. Frustrating. We are looking at other light marble options for our clients b/c the price is so prohibitive right now. There are several good options out there...
ReplyDeleteI love the limestone floors!
ReplyDeleteLe Creuset is a must - I love mine! I also love the British Castles dinnerware, and your pug fabric is adorable!
a lot of details to think about when designing your kitchen..beautiful images..

I can hardly wait to see your kitchen...love the black range, the limestone floors, and the wrought iron chandelier...perfection!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous - especially the kitchen with the curved entryway! SO many wonderful ideas...
ReplyDeletea bientôt,

The picture with the blue peg board that includes the essentials for a well stocked European kitchen looks like it came from Julia Childs kitchen. Do you suppose the items featured might be from her private collection too?
ReplyDeleteJ'adore your Enchanted Home!
Great post. Anne Willans cookbook is one of my favorites. The Poularde en Demi-Deuil pg 108 is out of this world delicious.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of your 12 foot island with black range and limestone floors in fact love it so much I think I’m a tad jealous! I would go with the iron chandelier in the kitchen it’s more practical less dressy. You don’t want everything to be “high” in style in your kitchen. Love your two little French guys holding the basket, great piece. I wish I had some ideas for you but it looks like you’ve pretty much covered them all. I can not wait to see your new kitchen!
ReplyDeleteStay warm and out of the snow!
Debra,
You seem to be on your way to a beautiful kitchen! Love all your ideas. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy the dip!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you are lucky enough to be building a Chateau! The montesery tables are my absolute favorite. Have you seen the ones Restoration Hardware sells? I am a new follower. ox
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the cabinets! I think the kitchen is really the heart of the home, and a french kitchen is the best of the best! Love the idea of incorporating black...this blog is such fun to read!
ReplyDeleteTina - wonderful post! Love so many of these images. I think I told you I did the black LaCanche which I loved and also the Paris Ceramics reclaimed limestone (but not in the kitchen - in the rear entrance). I also toyed with the idea of a black pantry - I love the idea. And my island was also large - 14' but i kept it white as it wouldn't have gone with the rest of the room. I did a fireclay sink from a different manufacturer and the Lefroy Brooks faucets - several different kinds - I LOVE their products. Love many of the accoutrements - the scale, kitchen towels and copper pots in particular. I have many but don't use them that much any more because they are so heavy and require so much maintenance - both polishing and retinning. Looking forward to seeing what you choose.
ReplyDeleteTina, lovely post! You have certainly done your homework. I love the reclaimed stone floors, perfect. FYI, that simpler iron chandelier in the photos with the table and chairs is from Murray Ironworks. http://www.murraysiw.com/ Not shown on their website, but definitely theirs. I almost used it on a recent project. They have such great quality, I loved how that iron "C" at the top tapers to a point at the ends. You do know quality!
ReplyDeleteI have French country in mind for my kitchen...I love the oak cabinets with a dark counter! I snagged a couple of your photos for my inspiration folder :O) The French cookbook I use the most (besides Ina) is French Food at Home by Laura Calder.
ReplyDeleteI love coming to your blog. I see that you really take the time and effort to make a great post and I appreciate that. I also appreciate your comment! Thank you so much for dropping by! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen will look amazing! Actually, you whole house will!

Post of the Day: A cottage on Shelter Island.
The montage of kitchen essentials you found is outstanding, I love it. And while each and every one of these images is gorgeous on it's own, I keep returning to the Le Cruset, I have such an unhealthy love of that line!
ReplyDeleteSending you a smile, and thanks for another stunning post.

Ummm, "...gorgeous on it's own" is what I meant to type. Sigh, I do apologize.
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteCheck out the Todd Richesin designer kitchen at his home called Casa Real on his website... He hid the subzero fridge behind trompe l'oeil panels!

Tina,
ReplyDeleteI love your ideas for your French kitchen. Having a French husband who is a chef and my mother in law who had her own restaurant, I vote for the iron chandelier, a couple of nice pieces of copper for sauteeing, Le Creuset for low heat cooking and oven use.
I loved the old French stove! I just posted on my blog vintage French Linens but my dish towels from my mother in law are what I thought would go perfect in your kitchen!
Glad I found you and I look forward to future posts!
Tammi
Love the Kristin Drohan stool - what a great collection of photos to keep in my inspiration file!
