Happy Friday and we have a winner!

Hi there...boy, this week flew! So any exciting plans or your  weekend? We are going for dinner with old friends (looking so forward) and invited to a rooftop BBQ party in NYC (should be fun)! I am thrilled to announce a winner for the beautiful and very functional Bavarian bread board. Using random.org, the lucky winner is......

I am excited to be adding some wonderful new finds to my online shop. At its onset, I said I would not sell anything I wouldn't put or love to have in my own home and this is so true. I truly love each and every item I sell. One thing I have a bit of a fetish for is wonderful linens, textiles,etc......just love them!  I am especially fond of ones that are French. So when I find them I grab them for my own kitchen. Ironically they are not so easy to find. So naturally I was thrilled to discover a wonderful connection and am even happier to announce that I will be carrying them in my online store. Beautiful textiles from France! I will be carrying the bar and dish towels and sets of placemats to start. I may eventually carry tablecloths and runners too. These are wonderful and  chic accents  for any kitchen. Check them out......

They are so great looking, some hang them too!

Love the set of 6 assorted placemats, this is the Burgundy Collection..tres chic!

Moving along.....got my pretty chair for my bathroom! I am going to recover the plain white cushion in a fabric and for now just draped my window treatment fabric over it..have to say I really love the chair.  Also you will notice the pictures are many sizes, I am experimenting with sometimes posting larger pictures. I do like seeing pictures in big sizes, what do you think/like? Take a look....

Isn't it pretty? I have always loved the idea of a pretty French chair in a bathroom. I could add the same fabric to the cushion and contrast it with the gingham that i have on the underside of the window treatment. It has come out exactly as I had hoped.

So......remember my little rosettes for the  mirror project? Well, I like to torture myself and found yet another possibility, this one in a very similar "nickel" finish. I decided as long as I was splurging at 3.99 for 3........I might as well try them all! Interestingly enough, I think I really like the original choice but would love to know what you think!! Here they are......
Original choice at top, darker lower left and nickel-y one bottom right

The originals

The darker,

The darker to me feels too dark and I am not feeling the silver, what are your thoughts?

Heres the original again......just ignore the wire in the middle:)

Starting to think about my dining room..the poor empty neglected room that it is. So heres our rug and a chinoiserie paper Alexis Hampton used in a New Orleans home that I always go back to.....think maybe doing it a little less busy but those same soft, warm colors and maybe the palest blue silk billow drapes, you know ginger jars are part of the picture and heres the Ralph Lauren chandelier we got.........

Last I was going through my seemingly endless number of boxes still to be unpacked and came across something I wanted to share. I have always been a pretty creative person. One year I wanted to make a special card for a dear friends birthday and looked high and low and couldn't find it, so I made one. Someone saw it and fell in love and asked if I could make a birth announcement card for her daughter. I took her on and the rest is history. I had fun off and on for about a year with my little card business, took them to a few local boutiques all of whom started carrying them and I started getting orders. Many orders.
I truly honestly enjoyed every moment of making them. Even when I had 200 or 300 to complete. It was all me, no helpers, no staff, no wing men. Sometimes I worked until the wee hours of the morning to fulfill an order that was due the next day. It could have grown into something more...but then my kids kept me busy and we decided to move and you know what happened then! The next four years of my life took over with not a spare minute. But I must say I really miss my little cards and seeing item brought back some wonderful memories. I hope I find some of the ones I did for Halloween and Thanksgiving parties, a great one I did for someones 50th and yet another for a big anniversary party. Its awfully gratifying to play a role in a happy occasion for someone..........

So thats whats up on this Friday. Wishing you a wonderful day and a superb weekend. Isn't it crazy that we are down to the last weekend before Labor day!! Holy moly.......where did the time go? I just cannot believe its about time for fall! Lets savor and cherish these quickly vanishing summer days while we can......

  1. Tina,

Congrats to Sherri. You have so many generous giveaways all with great stuff!

Loving the place mats...very fun. The chair is so perfect!

I am all about larger photos on a blog, especially when it's of your gorgeous home. Visually it looks better. I have a code I can give you to put in the HTML to make them all the same size - the thing is, it would require you going through your entire post history and changing all of the photos - tedious.

  2. YOUR BATHROOM IS TO DIE FOR!!!!!!!! Love the chair, every single thing you have done in there.
The French textiles are fabulous too, would love to buy a few for my home.
The dining room inspiration is so beautiful, love your rug, what kind is that? French?
Last cannot believe those cards, you are SO talented. How fun!

  3. Love the new French textiles. I'm thinking one framed in my casual dining room would go well with my area rug that has lines from La Poeme by Aesop, La Fontaine.

  7. So sad to have missed your giveaway - what with the gift show and the ALT Summit in NYC yesterday, we've barely had time to breathe. Those French wine linens are such fun and we spy some of our favorite chateaux featured. Have a wonderful weekend, Tina!

  12. Gorgeous! Tina, Thank you for sharing your process and taking us through your journey to decorate your beautiful home. I am inspired by your choices and encouraged that even a beautiful flawless space like yours has delays and setbacks and just takes time to choose and find the perfect pieces. Sometimes we forget that "TV" decorating didn't take 2 or 3 days to do. Keep us in the loop and have a nice soak in that tub this weekend. I always look forward to your posts.

  13. Tina, you have so many creative sides to you - you are full of surprises! I got really into making cards for a while too - very similar to these actually. I made my kids' birth announcements and early birthday parties...it was fun to have that outlet when they were so young. Hope you have a great weekend!

  14. Hello, my beautiful friend!

    How are you doing today?

It's crazy! This summer went by too fast. Maybe I feel this way because we have three kids, but I feel I didn't stop... again! :-)

I love your bathroom. It's always inspiring me. It seems to be a calm, peaceful place to be.

About the mirror I think I prefer the darker one. It add more "patina" and interest.

Wishing you a very blessed and relaxing weekend, sweetie.

  16. I love the new chair in your powder room, and I also think the original choice on the rosettes is the best. It's always hard to tell for sure in pictures, and I do like the idea of a darker rosette, but I'm afraid it might be too dark and take away from the beautiful mirror which should be the focal point. Your cards are darling and look like so much fun to make! You amaze me with your energy and talents!! Have a great weekend! Lisa L.

  19. Tina, I LOVE your cards. They are so sweet. I can totally relate to your story of working away when an order was due the next day - that was me with my table cards last week. How special yours must have made people feel!
I'm also in love with your bathroom chair - that room is looking amazing, and I'm sure the dining room will come along beautifully, too!
    Happy Weekend! XO

The French linens are a nice addition to your store, I must check them out.

And last but not least...your cards! How beautiful and sweet.

  21. Tina- is there anything you cannot do and not do incredibly well! Those cards are amazing and I love that they are so different from what else is out there. I love the texture and little objects on them. Fabulous!

The bathroom is the most beautiful bathroom I have ever seen. You have me brainstorming about how I can redo my own to look more like yours. I would spend all my time in there if that was mine. You have done an incredible job. The chair is the perfect choice.

The French towels are so beautiful and really in keeping with your style. I love the consistency and cannot wait till you offer them. Hope you enjoy your weekend activities and thanks as always for sharing all the beauty that always enhances my day.
PS The rosettes are so pretty, but my vote also goes for the first, the original one, slightly darker, stands out more.

  24. You made those cards...darling!!!!!! Oh I wish I knew about them when I had my twins! They are so beautiful. Your bathroom makes me faint. Seriously. Just perfect in every way. I love the rosettes but favor the darker one. The silver one doesn't look as rich.

The dining room will be gorgeous, all your choices are wonderful, but you DO have the BEST taste!! I liked the dark rosettes on the mirror...you know you can always add some gilding wax or paste to change them to your liking!

You're like me, you harbour a secret talent and love for making stationery - goes along with the love of wrapping things too. They are all very cute.

  41. Oh my goodness, so much beauty all on one page. Your bathroom is the most beautiful bathroom ever. Its fit for a party!

I also love the rosettes but greatly prefer the darker one over the light silver. It adds a sense of richness to the beautiful mirrored panels. I love antique mirrors. The dining room is going to be amazing, I love the colors.

Your cards are too cute, do you still make them? I love them because they are so different from everything else I see. I love your blog so much hope you will never stop blogging, I have my mom, mother in law and several friends addicted too!
