Hi, hope your week is going well. I was at the beach for a few days to visit a friend and it was a nice getaway, unexpected, which are often the best kind! The weather was a "10" but today, we are in the throes of a serious heat wave.....about 100 degrees as a heat index and high humidity, only good news is its supposed to break late Friday. I tend to wilt in this kind of weather.
I mean I love summer, don' t get me wrong but I love 75 -80 degrees, zero humidity, slight breeze in the air topped with a perfect sunset....now that's my kind of summer weather! A few things to cover today...first I know everyone loves to know which rooms take the top prizes for my weekly Which would you choose. So here's the top four from last weeks, featuring an assortment of gorgeous powder rooms. Happy that my personal faves made it to the top spots! I will show results for this weeks Which would you choose next week......
1st place with 25 votes
2nd place with 20 votes
3rd place with 16 votes
And tied for 4th place with 14 votes each
I have spoken often about all the perks and wonderful gifts that blogging has brought me, many friendships, knowledge on things that even a top school couldn't possibly provide....really an entire world of possibilities. Its quite a phenomenon when you think about the connections you make on a daily basis with people all around the world that you would otherwise never meet. After the "Teddy ordeal' the outpouring of support from my readers and fellow bloggers was truly just beyond, beyond what any words can fully describe.
So, I nearly fell off my chair when one of my readers contacted me, who happens to be a painter and wanted to paint Teddy's portrait. She was so touched by what he had gone through and felt inspired to paint him. I was touched far beyond what I can convey on this blog and eagerly awaited the Teddy portrait to arrive. What I guess i wasn't anticipating was what a magnificent work of art I would be receiving. I was floored when I opened the most exquisite dog painting ever! And to boot, it was like I was looking at Teddy in his sweet little eyes, her ability to capture his face, his gentle and curious eyes and funny little expression is not something just any artist could do. So with her permission I am sharing with you this beautiful and treasured work of art as well as the heartfelt letter that accompanied it and you know it brought tears to my eyes! Best part of this for you, all you pet lovers out there, is that Mary paints on commission! I know after seeing this you will want to have your own faithful companions painted too....so her contact information is at the bottom of the Teddy painting. Ready? Feast your eyes on this........
I couldnt' wait to rip off the wrapping!
Seriously...how AMAZING is this!!!!!! I cannot wait to get it framed and its going to go right in our library where we can cherish it always and always. THANK YOU MARY!! I know many of you will want your own pet masterpiece after seeing this.
The talented mastermind behind this exquisite oil on canvas is Mary Casey. She does not have a website but does have lots of pictures of her work that she can send you. Mary's email address is mcaseyart20@gmail.com.
For anyone who missed my temporary living room reveal, you can click here to get all the details how this room came to be and here's a few pictures......
And at night.....
While out in the Hamptons I snapped a few pictures (though few is a relative word..lol) that I think speak so well as to what the Hamptons is all about, or at least what I personally love about the Hampton's. Can there ever be too many hydrangeas? I don't think so! So here's a few pics from my little excursion, I always am sure to have my camera close by as there are always so many fabulous "photo ops"!
I always get carried away when taking pictures of beautiful hydrangeas...how stunning are these!
For about two hours, I experienced true perfection. Ever had a moment in life where you felt like it was "as good as it gets"? Well, this was Nirvana! I walked down the path and for what seemed like miles, I only saw one or two people in sight, just the glistening sea, acres of white sand and me and my chair! The perk was my phone doesn't get reception so no distractions!! It was hot but I was so blessed because on this day, it felt like there was a 50 foot fan blowing and it was really breezy so I had the heat from the sun and a cold breeze on the other side of me......bliss I am telling you!
One man fishing.......
See that house? That's "bad boy Madoffs" old house, new owners have it now and have totally renovated it. Don't know if I could live in a house that belonged to such an evil man!
My little beach chair waiting for me.......
And theres my son and his friend off for a jog, yes, I should have joined them but I was just way too relaxed with my magazines and my chair.....
Ahhhhh....just looking at these pictures makes me feel relaxed all over again. I am my happiest by the beach, this could be because I spent a lot of my childhood in California and Hawaii so I am a "beach girl" at heart. It is always where I feel my most relaxed, happiest and at peace. How about you? Does the beach seduce you too?
So that's about it for today.......off to Philadelphia tomorrow for the weekend. So this is it until later Sunday or Monday as I will have limited access to my computer. Wishing you a wonderful weekend! And thank you Mary Casey again!!!!!!!
Good Morning, Tina!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a gift!!!!! I'm in love w/ her work... how special!!! Teddy is the best!!! :-)
Also, thank you for sharing these relaxing pictures. I'm going to the beach this weekend w/ my little ones. We're going to make some sand castles! :-)
Big Hugs to you!!!
Luciane at HomeBunch.com
PS: Love so much your living room that I'm sharing it today w/ my readers too! Thanks, Tina!
Tina- the Teddy portrait is incredible! I can imagine how excited you must have been receiving it and what a generous and kind act of Mary. I will keep her email handy because I am thinking this would make a great gift for all my dog loving friends and relatives. The closet thing I have to a pet is a bird that comes every morning to feed out of my little bird bath in my yard!
ReplyDeleteThe beach/hydrangea pictures are so beautiful, I can see how you were so relaxed. Love and continue to drool over your living room, it is just perfect, can't imagine it getting better than that!
Have fun this weekend.
...dear friend...you do not have a living room...you have a drawing room...and it is perfectly beautiful...always love to visit your lovely home and blog...
ReplyDeletePrecious Tina,
ReplyDeleteWhat a BEAUTIFUL PORTRAIT of TEDDY BEAR!!! teeeheee...he is a gentle boy, and it shows in this sweet and well done rendition! HOW FABULOUS MY DEAR! You are well loved my sweet and all I can say is that blogging has changed my life, by meeting so many fabulous people. YOUR HOME LOOKS PERFECT MY DEAR. And those hydrangeas? JOY JOY JOY......the topic of my next post.
BE WELL, have fun and give Teddy a hug. Oh....100 for you today? We had that a couple of days ago.... Anita
I love the beach too, but it is too hot here! The breezes have even been hot!! Nothing more beautiful than the sun setting. The work of God is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you were able to get away. Well deserved.
THE PICTURE OF TEDDY IS AMAZING! Such a talented artist.
Happy Thursday, Tina.

When I saw that portrait of Teddy I literally heard myself saying out loud, " Holy Moly!" My husband was wondering who I was talking to! It's truly a masterpiece and something to treasure forever! Her work is amazing and what a kind, kind gesture! It's so nice to know that there are so many great people out there and I feel exactly the same way about all of the wonderful people out in blog land that otherwise we would never "Meet". I have loved every minute of it! As for the beach….I'm sure you can tell how very much I love it! It truly is my ideal spot and I don't remember a time that I didn't always love it! It's where I am the happiest, the most relaxed, etc…I grew up In California when I was little for a couple of years as well…maybe that does have something to do with it! The pictures of the beach in the Hampton's are amazing! Reminds me a little of Hilton Head and boy do I already miss it! We've not even been home a week! Hmmmm! Thanks for your kind words today and I hope you have a wonderful weekend in Philadelphia!
ReplyDeleteThat painting of Teddy is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteOh that painting is something to treasure forever, thank you for including the artists information. I would love to have my Daisy painted, she is extremely talented and you are so right the eyes are so life like.
ReplyDeleteYour living room just takes my breath away, what a spectacular room Tina! The beach always makes me happy and at peace too, don't get to go nearly as often since we have a busy family life and we are all in different directions but when I do its absolute heaven. Enjoy your weekend.
The painting is utterly amazing, and a true gift!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and thoughtful gesture and what an amazing portrait of your gorgeous Teddy! There is nothing more exciting than a heartfelt gift delivered in the post - and this one is just SO special - well done Mary - you have a true gift!
ReplyDeleteWonderful to recap the images of your living room - I never tire of seeing images of your incredible home.
As for your beach in the Hamptons - it looks so restful and serene. In Norfolk, England, we have the beautiful Holkham beach which was used in the final scene for the film 'Shakespeare in Love', where Gwyneth Paltrow walks across the great white expanse of sand, implying her landing in the 'new' America. Holkham is visually stunning, and very serene and uncrowded as well. It actually looks very similar to your Hamptons beach images - unfortunately, the down side is that we do not have your fabulous climate - lol!!
Have a great weekend and thank you for such wonderful pictures - always a treat.

That portrait brought tears to my eyes as well, because I feel like I know Teddy. What a lovely gesture.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the beach goes.... well, is there any better place. We have a place on the Cape with a private beach where you see few people. When I first arrive I just say "ahhhh".I can feel the stress just drop away.
The painting is truly a treasure.
ReplyDeleteYou beach photos are so restful. I too have the ocean in my blood. It is my relaxing destination of choice. Enjoy your weekend.
Keri
Aw, sweet, sweet Teddy.
ReplyDeleteNever left a comment but I am always in awe of all you do, you have a big fan in me! This painting of Teddy is so beautiful, cannot wait to see it framed and hung. What a wonderful and generous act. I will keep Marys email handy as I think a custom painting is perhaps the nicest gift of all.
ReplyDeleteYour living room is so incredible and beautiful. What a spectacular room you created, hard to believe its not permanent! I think its going to be hard to have it there for a month or two and then part with it. Hope you can keep it!
The beach is one of my favorite spots. Every year we spend 2 weeks in Cape Cod at my sisters home and its by far our favorite and most anticipated 2 weeks of the summer. Nothing quite like it, I agree and your pictures are fabulous.
Thanks for sharing all this beauty especially the Teddy painting, it really touched my heart.
What a lot of goodness you have in this post! The painting of Teddy is magnificent, Mary is so very talented, what an incredible gift. It's outstanding to see that beach, your description is perfect, "as good as it gets," I'm so glad you were able to sneak away for a few days. Nothing refreshes like fresh sea air!
ReplyDeleteThe heat will break, I promise, it has here!
tp
Unfortunately for me, Houston is 100+ degrees with 100% humidity all summer, and the worst part of feeling the heat and humidity is at job sites in the beginning phases of construction, when the power is not there. It's so hot! Hope you enjoy your R&R with your friend at the beach!! I loved the portrait of Teddy, what an amazing gift!! And so glad to see he is doing so much better!

HOw nice to have a portrait of Mr. T!!! Great surprise :)
ReplyDeleteThe living room is beautiful! Love all of your details. And the beach…oh boy does that look marvelous! Sometimes 2 hours of perfection is all I need to get me through 22 hours of not so great.
Hugs
Tina,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful painting of dear, sweet Teddy. How nice for your family.
Ahhh, the beauty of the Hamptons, that's for that little escape via armchair travel. :-)
Enjoy your weekend.
Karen
Oh to be by the water! Love those pictures and wish I was there. Love the painting of your sweet Teddy boy! Looking forward to dreamy beach days in our beautiful Vancouver, B.C.
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteWow! To have a painting of your dear Teddy is amazing...What a great idea!
Your living room feels so alive. Very nice!
The Beach...Aaaah! The Beach...
Are you having the same heatwave? Enjoy!!!

The Teddy painting is fabulous, looks so lifelike. Talented artist and I am delighted that you shared your contact information what a wonderful way to honor our best friends.
ReplyDeleteTina, the living room is exquisite! You must be tickled pink over it. I would have a hard time leaving that room, I think I might even be inclined to sleep in there.
The beach and the hydrangeas....two of my favorite things.
Always a treat to stop by and get a little peek inside your world. We are headed to East Hampton in August for the wedding of a great friend of my husbands daughters, cannot wait!
Your beach photos are wonderful Tina. I so love to walk on a beach, and yes, alone can be a good idea! How wonderful that Mary sent you the portrait of Teddy, you shall treasure that for years to come!

Well I didnt see that first place choice happening. I just feel the white and blue is too overwhelming. But that is what makes this so fun, getting to see things and learn from other people. Great photograph of Teddy. By chance I found a blog the other day that does the same thing with watercolors. The living room looks great. Its too bad half of its going away. Next time go for the whole lot yourself because I bet you wish you did now that you see it all in place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a BEAUTIFUL portrait of sweet Teddy!!!! Just perfect. The pics of the beach have transported me. Thanks!!! I leave Sat. for the Outer Banks but WITHOUT my hubby as he has to stay home because of the darn septic system going in:(:( I just did a post about my hydrangeas too, I have 10 bushes and wish I could take every one of them with me:):) Have a great weekend. I grew up near Philly, and live 45 mins. from there now. Wish I had known you were coming, would have LOOOOVED to meet you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XO, Pinky

Oh Tina, what a special gift - it is such a beautiful portrait, and I can almost feel Teddy's sweet soul. Don't you "meet" the most wonderful people in the blog world?! So glad you had such a good time at the beach. I can instantly relax as soon as I see the water...hope your weekend is wonderful!!

I love the beach too...or the mountains...or city ...ha! Love it all. I am going to take a long walk on the beach today.
ReplyDeletePrecious painting of Teddy. Enjoy your weekend, Tina.
Hi Tina, I am also a beach girl and by far happy as a clam at the beach. I can relate to your feelings and loved your pictures, they are so beautiful and serene.
ReplyDeleteThat portrait of Teddy is just incredible. What a talented lady Mary is! And what an amazingly kind gesture of her to paint him for you. I am going to pass her email onto my brother who is a big avid dog lover and I bet he would love to have his three best friends painted.
The living room is just incredible, right out of a front page of a design magazine and to think you aren't even done yet!
On a side note, got my pillows and dough bowl yesterday, LOVE them, even better in person!
I am a Cape Cod girl through and through. So the beach is in my blood. The painting of your beloved Teddy is pricelessly beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBridge
Tina, what an amazing painting of your dog and such a sweet present. It sounds like you had a great time at the beach. That is my favorite kind of vacation.
ReplyDeleteThe painting is such a beautiful gift! It will be perfect hanging in your library! I am right there with you on the beach. I am a total beach girl and am getting ready to go for a week the first part of July. I cannot wait. I find the beach so therapeutic and relaxing. It's so good for the soul!
ReplyDeleteI am a Pisces so I have always said the beach is like therapy to me....Love your photos! Glad I bumped into your blog....
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous portrait of Teddy. A real treasure. I had Cappi painted for Dons birthday several years ago. We wouldn't take anything for it particularly now that she is gone. The beach looks so inviting. I really need some sun and fun right now. Have a great weekend. Mona
ReplyDeletenot only is mary casey immensely talented, she is immensely kind! this is indeed a life long treasure.
ReplyDeleteoh did you have me at that beach chair. that's my kind of beach; quiet and seemingly desolate, ahhhh heaven!
xoxo

Adorable and plentyful hydrangeas, one can only dream of that amount to be seen in Calgary ... your beach weekend sounds like great relaxation ... even more so, considering that we had to cancel our holiday trip sadly, these images gave me hope (:
ReplyDeleteTeddy's portrait looks amazing too! xo Z
Ok, your "temporary" living room it totally stunning! I love that space and honestly, you could arrange it in so many different ways with the fabulous furnishings in there. I too have three sets of french doors (off my family room) and floating your furnishings makes for lots of different layouts! I change my seasonly!!! Loved the picture of Teddy too. So sweet. M.
ReplyDeleteTeddy's painting is lovely! After his ordeal he does deserve to be immortalized!
ReplyDeleteLucky you Tina! Isn't blogging amazing that way? I feel the same way about the friendships - both online and now some even in person - that blogging has brought about that otherwise never would have existed! Hope you are having a wonderful time away. Those pictures from the Hamptons are divine too - being at the beach is as good as it gets for me for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteThe portrait of Teddy by Mary is simply stunning! And, what an incredibly thoughtful gesture. I am always amazed at the generosity that comes from unexpected places!!!
Isn't there something in the air in the Hamptons that makes hydrangeas grow to unparralled heights?! Love that lone beach chair and yes....I am at peace at the beach. Unplugged. Must do more of that this summer.
Enjoy Philly....chat next week!
xoxo Elizabeth
Hi Tina, First, I never tire of hydrangeas, which seem to be the 'patron' flower of the Hamptons! Secondly, the portrait of Teddy is fantastic and such a sweet gesture! And the beaches of the Hamptons...unbelievably, you can wander almost alone for miles, surrounded by the beauty of place and the superlative sea-air. You cannot have the same experience here in So. Cal. I have a small antique jar that hold the tiniest little white, white pebbles picked up from the Hampton beaches. I hope to fill my jar with those tiny little gems of Hampton nature, each one a memory of a grand experience of place...yes the seduction of quiet and the fragrant, rhythmic sea. Nothing like it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your get-away!
xoxo, Chris
Tina-
ReplyDeleteI miss visiting your blog but our crazy schedule and my even crazier work schedule has not allowed for much computer time. I love the Teddy painting, just found out about the whole ordeal a few weeks ago when I was catching up on whats new with you, so horrible! But if any good came out of it, it is the kindness of strangers and particularly Mary for painting this incredible work of art for you and your family to have and hold. I am always touched by artists who feel compelled to paint something when they are touched by a certain story or person. Teddy seems to bring that kindness out in many!
Love your Hamptons pictures, have only been once..many years ago but am due a trip back. We do go to the Cape but I think the towns in the Hamptons are unique in that they each offer a certain "flavor'.
And that living room is a perfect dream of a room, oh my, I cannot imagine its not all staying. How will you part with it when the time comes? It looks so fabulous!
Thanks for sharing as you always do, I look forward to checking back in again soon.
Thank-you all for such lovely comments regarding my painting of Teddy, truly kind words. I must say this whole blog community is so kind and positive, like Tina's home, which truly is enchanted! Thank-you again!
ReplyDelete-Mary
Looking at that painting three in a row began looks a little creepy.
