30 heavenly reasons why I love hydrangeas!

Good morning.....

I really have, truth be told many many more reasons than just 30 as  why I love summers poster child.....yep that gift that keeps on giving all summer long, the hardy gorgeous hydrangea. In all its many colors, its one flower that gives a lot of bang for the buck. I realize not all parts of our country are blessed with its billowy bushes but even for those who are not,  I hope will enjoy taking a look at this post.
I pretty much have always had hydrangeas blooming in our yard and always have an arrangement or two or three in the house all summer long. Few things signify summers arrival than the non stop blossoming hydrangea bushes that abound. So....without further adieu, here's 30 reasons why I absolutely love hydrangeas!  How about you? Do you have the same love for them as I do? Whats your favorite way to use them?

What could be prettier than hydrangeas in pots brimming with full and overflowing blooms!
In any container, hydrangeas literally are a home run every time! Talk about versatile.....
What could be prettier than a luscious border of overflowing hydrangea plants?

Even in a simple glass vase they make the most elegant centerpiece!

Proof that even in the most formal of settings, hydrangeas are right at home, in this case in pretty elegant silver planters
Love the way the purple in the blue and whites pops against the fabulous green walls!
Something about all white hydrangeas, just ethereal. Style me Pretty
Could this cake be any prettier? Hydrangea heaven!
Love hydrangeas in big oversized planters for around the pool, Ashley Whittaker
A beautiful vase of full hydrangea blooms in a bathroom is a surefire way to add some freshness from the outdoors
I always try to incorporate them into whatever I put into my blue and whites, case in point here!
How stunning is the purple of the hydrangeas next to the dramatic black in this room!Hydrangea girl
Blue and white and white hydrangeas go together like Oreos and milk
Carolyn Roehm is clearly a fan, and why not...they are spectacular!

I like adding a small bouquet of them in the kitchen, a beautiful way to bring a little of the outdooors in, Simply Seleta
There are no flowers that hydrangeas don't look fabulous next to......

Last to close on a humorous note....my bud, Jennifer from Belclaire House made me aware of this  video, can you imagine someone NOT liking hydrangeas? Well you will never guess who......why does this not surprise me coming from someone who fancies a British accent on certain occasions and kind of forgets about it on others...lol!

Madge, I am disappointed, and why would he know that? The world LOVES them:)

Hope you like hydrangeas more than she does :) Wishing you a fabulous summer day!

  14. Love me some snowballs ~ Does seem to be their year! Madonna was my Lady Gaga of the 80's & 90's. Not sure why she can not "grow old gracefully" such a pity.

  19. I thought they were MY favorite flower! I need to do some reading up though, to find out ho to get my bushes to bloom so profusely, as the bushes you pictured! Every year, I plant more of them in the yard. I've planted a hedge of white blooms, outside the living room window. This is one of summer's best gifts!

  20. Ha ha! Madge also had an unfortunate lapse in judgement regarding her wardrobe (or lack thereof) on her recent tour…so me thinks she's losing it!

Hope your week is great Tina!

  26. My favorite are the chartreuse hydrangeas. They are on my coffee table and I enjoy them year round. Shiree'

  27. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers. Like Shiree, I like the chartreuse best; they whiten and then turn pink as they go through summer and fall, so they are beautiful in every season. l am experimenting with some hydrangeas that are supposed to survive in Zone 10 where I live. Wish me luck. I do miss having them in my garden to make frequent bouquets for the house. Thanks for all the beautiful images.

  29. I was in big time garden love when I saw the driveway hedge of Hydrangeas in front of Whitmore's Nursery in E. Hampton. 'Technicolor Dream Coat' for that driveway was my first thought! The rainbow of hydrangea colors was spectacular. Just as this post!

  30. Well I don't absolutely looaath them, I absolutely ADORE them! I think I like having dried ones in the house over the winter as much as I like having them blooming in the garden.

    Many pretty interiors too!

  31. HI Tina, I agree that hydrangeas are the BEST!!!! I have 10 hydrangea bushes here around our gardens. I actually plucked them out of the TRASH at the florist where I used to work!!!!!!!!!!! They were tiny little plants at the time and now are huge. You can see them at my latest post if you'd like. I loved EVERY one of these pictures. XO, Pinky

  32. I'm a big fan - I love the subtle hues of the blue/purple ones the best. I have two planted on each side of my front door and they look fab. I hope to dry some to bring indoors over the fall/winter season too. They go great in our climate and in shade here which is always a challenge in the NW!

  33. My hydrangeas are spectacular this season. I am going to photograph them later today. Your post was right down my alley!! thanks

  34. I just love hydrangeas....the good thing about them is that they don't need a lot of care and attention. You have inspired me to pot some and put them by the front entrance. As usual, fabulous photos.

  35. Don't want to be redundant, but for those who don't know how to prep them here you go! Cut your beauties, then put a pot of water to boil, gently smash about 2-4 inches od bottom of stem, turn off the heat, then plinge in stems for about 30-45 secongs, then plunge into cool water. You can do this with rhodies, and lilacs too. I just let the flowers dry by letting the water dry out naturally in the vases. Also good old fashioned carnations after they have faded, lopping off the flower head, can be rooted in water,

  36. oh my I meant plunge and seconds and of, my spelling has deteriated!

  37. There is nothing more beautiful than hydrangeas - one of my favorite flower. I have a backyard full of limelight hydrangeas that have so many buds. Can hardly wait for the first full bloom!! Gorgeous images here...

  38. Mine are just starting to bloom and I couldn't be more excited. I gained a few extra plants this year when we planted what used to be our old driveway.

Love these images and especially that last floral design with the tulips. Usually you see hydrangeas all alone, but this shows that they don't mind sharing the spotlight!

  40. I'm a huge fan of hydrangeas! I have more shrubs in my yard than I can count. While they won't be in bloom for at least another month here, I am constantly checking in on the beautiful buds that are forming. I also love to cut them at the end of each season and love them dried in different pretty containers. xo

  46. I can't wait for mine to bloom. They are by far one of my favorite flowers. There is a house in Chatham, MA called Hydrangea Walk. It's a big old white gorgeous beach home overlooking the ocean with a rolling front lawn. The home has a brick walk going the entire length of the front lawn to the front entry and it is surrounded by hydrangea bushes the entire length of the walk... it's stunning. xo

  51. I SO AGREE WITH YOU. WE have the blue ENDLESS SUMMER variety and they are just incredible. And then in the winter, you are left with the dried pom poms that will withstand the high winds and biting cold. I use them in my Christmas wreath and they stand strong all winter.
