Happy Saturday and random musings

Good afternoon and happy Saturday to you! Hoping for a more relaxed weekend than last, excpet for an event we have Sat. night should be a chill weekend....would love to get to a movie, as its been soooooo long, want to see The Descendants, anyone see it? Things are finally calming down here, but I only say that because the physical act of moving is just about done. Can you belive just last night we had yet one last batch moved over?  I was quick to find places for everything but admittedly there will be lots of 'reshuffling" going on. So I have resigned myself to the fact that this is going to take a long time, but slowly it will get done. At least the kitchen, family room and breakfast feel like 'home" and feel lived in and we do in fact literally live in those rooms.

I, for the first time ventured out the other day, and started looking at fabrics, which was fun. It was more out of necessity, as my husbands bathroom needs a window treatment (above his tub) so am thinking a flat roman and my bathroom needs a treatment, probably going with a long balloon shade. And finally the back stair hall has a bench, and needs a cushion and a window treatment above it. Honestly, not much new to show but a few fabric options and really just trying to get organized, so most of the progress has been a "behind the scenes" kind of progress. On top of that, we still have people working here, the paitners and woodworkers so we are limited.  So that's what I have been up to......below a few updates.

Fabric for window seat that I love for back hall window seat and window treatment

Love the colors......

I apologize for poor picture taking.....trying to find the right light!
Love that it has the must have blue, with the brown and a creamy background for contrast

OK if at this point you are thinking "when will she stop with this fabric.....enough already" that was it...just had to show you in a few lights and against a few settings.....

Sorry...that is really it with the fabric, promise!

Hallway.....ahhhh, so nice to see the floors!! But they are covered again as the painters finish up

Haven't shown the progress of the library in a long time, so here it goes......
Ceiling, finish has not started yet, this is just the raw mahogany wood

The library has doors leading out to loggia

So nice to enjoy the railing after being covered up all this time!

Hung the fixture, amazing how it shrunk when it went up there!! We didnt' have enough chain so they arent' done yet, but its a temporary light since we obviously need light there, probably going to go with another "beefier" fixture
My azalea tree in full beautiful bloom, going strong!
A few had asked to see the fireplace closer up...here it is
Next decision....kitchen stools. These are from our old house, so being used temporarily. What do you see here? Stools same color as cabinet or done in black or a fully upholstered stool?
Teddy standing guard
Teddy on the prowl for crumbs no doubt

Peeking into pantry

And finally some other fabric contenders, all thoughts welcome!

Tower foyer almost done painting...finally!

Now some fabric talk......OK now onto my bathroom, want something very soft, feminine and of course blue and white...

I really like this, what do you think? Its a soft linen blend and I think for a elongated balloon would be beautiful, show you in several pictures so you see the floors too

Love my orchids!

I would love one in every room.....

Now husbands bath, this is for a tall window above his tub, will be a flat roman, which do you like?

Hard to see but the dark stripe part of the stripe is a dark brown and the one on the right has the same color as the brown in the floors (light emperador)

Well, there you have it. Its going to a long arduous process but we will get it done. Had our very final last batch of things brought over last night...FINALLY its over! But little baby steps are being made. You know I love hearing from you and your opinions are so welcome! Wishing you a wonderful Saturday.

  1. Tina Tina Tina, where do I start? Too much beauty for one post. My breath was taken away, OK LOVE every single fabric choice, not a like but a LOVE. Your bathroom, is a winner, look no more, your husbands like the stripe, the other one I think conflicts with the floor and adore that fabric for stairhall/foyer area, so beautiful.

Your kitchen takes me breath away every time and with Teddy its even more breathtaking. For stools I think black would look great or a fully upholstered stool. I ordered some from Ballard last year, so great looking, they have held up well and very reasonable.

Can we talk about your stair railing and that fit for a queen white and black marble hallway? There aren't words. The library is going to be superb as well, why am I am not surprised. So hope you are taking time to enjoy!

Last we saw The Descendants a few nights ago, George Cloooney was fantastic, its a good movie but very sad.
Hope you get that relaxing weekend you are craving and well deserve.

  2. I am breathless!!! Goodness, I remember how hard it was when we put an addition on our home.. I honestly don't know how you have done this!! I love your choice in fabrics~ I do like the strip for your husbands bath.. I think the stripes will play off the floor tile, and not compete with it.
Have fun.... I would say relax, but that is just not going to happen for awhile!!
Oh, and your kitchen... amazing, and I would go with black stools.
Going to watch the Descendants this weekend!!

  3. i am gasping for air.
    the place looks divine.

i must say the floor under the tub with the gold/tan inlay is magnificent.
your fabric choice for you master is too yummy.
and teddy looks as thought he's digging his new home.

  4. Tina, I cannot believe how much you have done! Must be burning some calories! I don't think I will ever be able to get enough of your home! Love the floors in both your baths.

  5. Wow! Things are coming right along! I love your "kitchen into the family room" view. I would imagine if you are anything like me, that is where you will spend most of your time. I don't think you can go wrong with your fabric choices. xoxo

    like you, so YES,
    love your fabrics
    with the touch of
    blue. I think all of
    the fabrics are really
    classic and timeless.
    I want to move into
    your kitchen. Ours
    is due for an update!

    Enjoy the weekend

    light-filled haven!

  8. Tina, the natural light in your gorgeous home gets me every, single time. It is absolutely breathtaking (and extra so for a light starved Swede).

Love all of your fabric choices. I would pick upholstered chairs in your kitchen as a contrast to all that lovely wood. And I would pick the stripey for Hubby's batroom. Once again a little bit of contrast. But what do I know - you are the one with good eye!

Hugs to you and Happy Saturday.

    oxoxo, Mon

P.S Finally getting out of the house. Having been taking care of 2 (out 3) kids with the stomach flu all week. I thought I was going to lose it. I am going for a LONG run.

  9. Love the stripes for your husband's bath. Fabric for the cushion is fabulous. I know how you feel about blue & white must have, do you think a stronger blue pattern might be better or is there something in your bath that makes a statement that you don't want to conflict with? You have a lot of white in there. Maybe want a stronger blue color.

Kitchen stools, I like upholstered stools to bring some color & softness into the kitchen. I love to look at your home. It is magnificent!!

    Just my opinions,

  10. So happy to hear you are enjoying your new home! So much plannning and hard work have gone into it. I like the idea of an upholstered short back stool for your island, something low enough not to obstruct the beautiful view from both angles. I think they should not make a statement because everything else makes its own statement, simple and non-obtrusive. Love the stripe for hubby's bath, the other feels too heavy. As far as your balloon shade I love blue and white, I don't remember what fabrics are in the adjoining master suite so I can not judge the fabric with out seeing that. You have impeccable taste so it will be sheer perfection, I am sure. Thanks for your input on my bed choice, I am pretty excited, the shams and coverlet are on their way!! Woo Hoo!! xo Kathysue

  11. What an absolute BEAUTY of a home! Congrats! I love all your fabric choices, and for your hubby's bath, I'm going to have to be the rebel and pick the one with the circle motif - that no one else liked...I love how this relates to the circles in the floor! It will really make the room look so put together - but truly, they are both beautiful, and either one will look amazing in that gorgeous bathroom! Good Luck!

  12. Dear Tina,
I do see that you love walking around in your new gorgeous home! You have given it already a soul! Oh dear,I love your home!!
The stairway and hall with the beautiful floor! YourI have noticed today that corner cabinet that opens on both sides! Wonderful! And your library!! I wished my company could have made that for you!!! So sorry we live so far from each other!!
And the fabrics you have chosen are beautiful! I love the chinoiserie fabric for the window seat. And the fabric for the bathroom is one of my favorites!!!
Thank you so much for sharing all these beautiful pictures!!! I can not express how much I appreciate this!!!
    Happy weekend Tina!
Hugs from a very cold Belgium!

  14. The house is amazing!!!! Love the stripe for the hubby's bath - love the fabric for your bath - don't love the fabric for the hall - I know you are traditional but I would choose something that would keep the house more current - and I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with this but I would not do a balloon shade - not current. I really really love the tile!!!! Great job.

  15. Oh Tina, so happy that you are finally enjoying the house! Everything looks amazing...the floors in your galleries and foyer are exactly what I picture for my dream house!
    To your questions...
I think I would do a black stool with upholstered seats.
Adore the fabric for your bathroom! Im helping a friend with her master suite, and she has her heart set on blue and white, so I have sent her to your blog a dozen times for inspiration.
For the hubby...oh those floors are amazing!! I like the one that matches the design of the floor best, but either one will look great.

  16. For hubby's bath, definitely the stripes. Very elegant and a lovely counterpoint to the marble.
    Now, selfishly, two requests--
More, more more of the fabulous kitchen! Would love to see the layout and appliance access.
Please do a blog on jardinieres--you have so many wonderful pieces and I never tire of the porcelain and ormolu accents!
Curl up with Teddy and get a bit of rest, and also don't miss our boy George in "Ides of March"--it's excellent and timely.

  17. I love when you ask us our opinions, not that you need any help. My goodness, your taste is off the charts, woman! But, since you are asking for island, I see black chairs or upholstsered chairs. I LOVE the fabrics, more than I can describe. Each of them, and prefer the stripes for husbands bath, as the other is too bland, the stripe gives it some "pop". Your fabric is perfect for your bath, and I love how you placed the ginger jars, against the marble, it made my knees go weak:-)
I can never end without mention of your kitchen, my absolute dream kitchen. I know we will be seeing your home in many many magazines, when and if you are ready. How lucky for us to have been the first and to have gotten to share this with you.
    Teddy is one lucky fella!

  18. Hi Tina, oh my it is amazing how much your house is looking like home already! I know that it must seem terribly long for you but from an outsiders point of view, it really is coming together so beautifully, as the others all agree. :) I had one thought for the kitchen stools. Why not strip the ones that you have down and stain them darker so as to link both to the beams (beautiful) and the room behind? For the hubby's bath, I prefer the stripe and saw (what I think is) a prettier version of your bath fabric on the Quintessence blog awhile back. Now if only I can find it! So happy to see your sweetie boy controlling the kitchen--I bet that floor is spotless! ;)

  20. WOW, I can not even begin to image all that room. It is so gorgeous. I love love the fabric and am a blue and white lover. Love the stripes for the husbands window. I would think black stools would look really good.
Wow, can you come help me decide what to do in my 1164sq feet of space. It is so very hard to downsize. Relax and enjoy, blessing. Linda

  21. What do I see on some stools? I see my butt sitting there planning menus. I want to cook in that kitchen! I think I would even enjoy clean up... for a while anyhow!

  22. Gah, typos...let's try again: I think the bar stools in kitchen should be should be something upholstered for a nice contrast against all the wood and hard materials. I'd go with the stripes in hubby's bathroom since the floor is patterned. It's all coming together nicely!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Tina, It sounds like the stripe is it! Love it. I would keep looking for your bath. I like that one but it just isn't enough in some way. Follow Heather's lead. Everything is looking great! So glad it feels like home but you knew in your mind's eye it would be that way! What a treat to have the whole blog world help you with your fabric and furnishing decisions! Such a great opportunity!

We saw the Descendants and we both thought it was OK but not great. Have a great weekend!

  26. Hi Tina, I too like all your fabrics. really pretty! For your husbands I think the one on the right with the small circles Is wonderful with the floor. The silver box on your bathroom sink gives me heart palpitations. love it.

  27. Tina, Goodness! You are making so much progress and everything is gorgeous. Your kitchen is amazing - and I love the sitting area for breakfast with the pug chairs. Re/ your husbands bathroom - the stripes for sure. I think fabric you've picked for your bathroom is just perfect. So feminine and staying in line with the blue and white theme. I have several orchid in my home too and have found that they enjoy the humidity in bathrooms and kitchens. I tend to throw them out when their flowers are gone and they look bare .. shameful I know, but I haven't figured out the formula to get them to re-bloom for me. Your pup is so cute! I have two English Springers and often include them in my posts. They are my little pals and always feel they must be included ;) Hope you are able to watch a movie and relax this weekend. I'm trying to get through the movies that are up for awards. I've read The Help(need to see the movie) and still need to see The Descendants.

  28. Hi Tina, Everything is looking beautiful (Teddy too). My choices would be to go with fully upholstered stools in the kitchen, this would soften all the wood/stone hard surfaces say something in blue and white with a touch of yellow. Love the butlers pantry. Always wanted one. The fabric for your bath is great and the balloon idea sound divine. LOVE all the scents, bottles, boxes and purely female goodies in your bath. For the hubby I would go with the stripe. Of course this is only my opinion. Whatever you choose, I am sure will look divine. Thanks for sharing, hope your weekend is great.

  29. You must be elated to be living in your house! I definitely think upholstered bar stools--would make your kitchen that much more elegant, and homey at the same time. LOVE the fabric for your bathroom--it looks perfect! And, I prefer the circle/geometric brown for your husband's roman shade, but both are great. Hope you can sit down to a nice movie and just relax for a bit this weekend. Thanks for sharing all your updates!

  31. Tina- Well, you have come a long way in a short time in the house. You will be SOOO glad to see the last of the workers finish their jobs and be out of your home. I love the fabrics you have chosen. My hardest decision would be the one for hubster's bath. I like them both. I think the stripes would be great as they would give you a bit of interest but then I look at the geometric pattern and like the "match/not-match" appearance of it....tough decisions all the way around. That is probably my hardest choice -picking the right fabric to finish a room. Hope you have a great weekend. xo Diana

  33. Tina, Am I the only one who would love to see the second fabric in hubby's bath? Everyone but me seems to love the stripe. Anyway, I do not think you could find anything lovlier for your bath than the one you have shown. A soft balloon would be beautiful!! You are the bomb!!

  34. It's been said over and over but the house is spectacular! I am a blue and white girl all the way, but the blue and white in your bath seems as Faith put it not "strong enough." I love the stripe for you husband bath. I love the geometric too..could you pipe, trim or line the roman shade with that ? Everything must taste so delicious coming from that deicious kitchen. I can see upholstered stools maybe in fun or whimsical pattern like the dog chairs in the other room. I am sorry this is anonymous but I am embarrassed to sayI don't know how to do the other profile choices! Susan

    1. Susan it is really easy to do so. Where it says reply as: select profile click to the right where the bottom half of a down arrow is, then when you see Name/URL click on that. It will open a box and just type your name next to the name and click continue your name then will be in the reply as box followed by an O just hit publish and it will work. Hope that helps all who want Tina to know who they are.

  35. Your house is stunning! Love your bathroom and the blue and white. I think the fabric you showned will make beautiful balloon shades. I agree with most others - I like the stripe for your husband's bath. Keep the pictures coming - so enjoy seeing them!

  36. It is already a home, Tina. So many wonderful details and special touches...can't believe how much you have done. The kitchen is beyond spectacular and I love the finish on the island, and you know how I covet your butler's pantry(love getting a glance from the kitchen). I know we are suppose to be talking fabrics, but I just cannot get enough of the tiles in both bathrooms, and the knobs in your bathroom...spectacular. Details, details, details here, my dear - you didn't miss a trick. On to the fabric - love the window seat, love yours and your hubby's I'm debating. Love the color contrast on the circles, but not sure if it fights with the floor...don't think it would though being so far away - sure you can't go wrong with either. I see Teddy is adjusting quite nicely...seems right at home...that's the biggest complement of all!! Happy weekend ~

  37. Like everyone else, I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUR HOUSE!!!!! It is impossible to pick a favorite room, but the kitchen and the bathrooms, the pantry, family room, breakfast, what the heck all of them are just beyond amazing. How exciting that you are at the stage to get to start decorating, thats the best part!
I am in love with the fabric for stairhall, whose is it? Looks like either Schumacher or Brunschwig? I like to think I "know" my fabrics! Just a guess. Love your bathroom and for husband really like the stripe a lot, its masculine but enough of a contrast too.
For stools in the kitchen, it is so beautiful you could put lawn charis from Home Depot and they would look incredible but I do think a black stool or a full upholstered look would be gorgeous. I love all the blue and white in your bathroom, its so elegant. Reminds me of when we went to Paris on my honeymoon almost 10 years ago and of the beautiful bathroom in our suite. You must want to kiss that gorgeous tile every time you walk in there!

  42. I have to try and remember everything I want to mention!! So much to be part of over here! I'll go backwards..Hubbys bath I like the darker fabric that mimics the floor pattern, your bathroom would be very pretty with balloons~will you do box pleated or gathered ones (I think they are technically called cloud shades) and for the bar stools I think you could consider an iron stool with upholstered seats or an upholstered cushion over the seat if it is wood and iron~to bring out the iron grillwork...looks like fun over there!

  43. Such a beautiful house! I think the fabric for your bath is very pretty and feminine. I like the stripe for your husband's bath. Look forward to seeing more!

  46. Tina, Everything is looking wonderful! I love the fabric for the window seat very pretty with great color and pattern. As for the kitchen bar stools I would not use stools with backs because they hide the pretty open architecture of the room and as for color look for something with blue and green and white with touches of black! If I see something when I am out and about I will send to you. The bathroom selections are also terrific Keep up the good work and continue to post! We love it. All the best to you and yours

  47. So beautiful!! Thank you very much for sharing these images as you get settled!! I love your fabric choices. My vote goes for the geometric in your husband's bath rather than the stripe. Stunning!
Loved the Descendants and George Clooney of course. Wonderful, thoughtful movie.

  48. You'll laugh, knowing my inexplicable obsession with the foyer stairs/railing/etc., but it is *so* lovely seeing the railing uncovered! It looks beautiful! The pictures from this post truly underline what an incredible difference flooring can make, sometimes it's overlooked for those of us less involved in design, this post proves the impact.

The stripes for your husband make the most sense in my uneducated opinion, I am in love with the fabric for your bathroom, I love the colors and the design, a really pleasing combination.

I hope Teddy found some crumbs, he is such a love.

  49. tina, you know by now i always love your random musings! (well maybe you don't since 3 million other readers agree and let you know!!)

my favorite fabric is the one you slected for your bathroom. i'm dying for it. dying. also suffering from excess swoon-age as a result of seeing the texture of those beams in the kitchen ceiling and reading the word LOGGIA. OHMYHEAVENS i could so roll with both of those details.

it is like 30 below rught now so i am going to go grab chicago deep dish with some friends now and drown my sorrows in cheese.

    LOGGIA. it just gets better.

It looks more European to have a few items that are not too perfect.

Teddy looks content and feeling comfortable with the his new home.

So glad to read that you all are getting settled...Have a great weekend!

  53. Tina-Your home is EXQUISITE! Absolutely love it and look forward to your posts-Love your fabric choice for your bathroom-Think the brown geometic would be fabulous in you hubby's-(not sure of the cabinet color but seems that the darker color would provide some color balance)As for your kitchen stools-check out what Guy Chaddock has available- We have them (wood frame with upholstered seats that swivel) and we love them- They're very comforfable! Whatever you decide, I know it will look WONDERFUL!

  54. Very beautiful! IMHO... I would do balloon for your bathroom for sure, but it would be in pastel (just a tint of blue or maybe antique blue that would have more color) taffeta silk, not the patterned fabric as it makes it more casual. Your bathroom is classic style and very elegant. Besides you got some BEAUTIFULLY painted vases there. I so enjoy seeing you gorgeous home! have a nice weekend :)

  55. Beauty and elegance personafied. I didnt' think it was possible to get prettier but you did it, wowed me again.
Thank goodness you didn't ask us to choose a favorite room, impossible!
In love with each fabric choice (and prefer the stripe over the circle fabric) but both are lovely choices. LOVE your fabric for the bathroom, will you do a trim maybe in a soft blue? And that fabric for bench and window is so beautiful, very old world feeling.
Please tell me where you got that beautifil silver box in your bathroom to hold your towels, I am dying for that!
Enjoy this stage Tina and please keep those pictures coming.

  58. Hello Tina,

I hope you had a great event and are now relaxed and sitting beside a roaring fire with a cup of something warm and a good book.

I laugherd today at your comment, remember I hate the silverware in the dishwasher so loving washing by hand is relaxing compared to the angst of the dreaded silverware basket.

The fabric choices are fabulous! I love the one for the window seat, and the one for your bath as for your husbands I like the stripped one.

I think back chairs for the kitchen would be beautiful. But a fabric that compliments the breakfast room would be beautiful also.

    The library is looking fabulous!

Happy to hear you have the last load moved over! That is cause for celebration.

Have a great rest of the weekend,
    Elizabeth

  59. Love all your fabric Choices but I don't see the stripes for your husbands bath at all... Just feels wrong against the floor there... Even though I love stripes for a masculine bath... Maybe a different stripe with a stronger deeper hue but rather not. But the choice of circles (the other fabric) works amazingly... I think. Perfect Colour and circles compliment the geometric floor enough but don't match it ...
I like the eclectic idea when it comes to the bar chairs... Not making them too perfect...for the surroundings...
    Love your staircase! (((:

  60. OK, I am very sorry! I have realized that I am completely wrong about my opinon on your husbands bathroom romans!!! I LOVE the stripe....not the other fabric as much anymore...what happened? I don't know besides the fact that I was on my ipad in the darkness of my son's bedroom waiting for him to stop messing about and sleep...and I did not see how beautiful the stripe softens the floors and adds another dimension by being paler in colour. I do better seeing the fabrics separately...so I had to cover one side to see just one fabric... but at first glance I did make a mistake in my preference...so I prefere the STRIPES (:
have a lovely weekend and I am off to watch the middle now!

  61. Beautiful home..Lucky you!! I like the stripes for your husband's bathroom, handsome choice..the other fabric is too competitive with the floor. You need a deeper blue in your fabric for your bathroom...to tie it in with your blue & white accessories....the fabric you have is going to fade away..it will not relate to your other blues at all...

  62. I love all the fabrics. Not sure about those for the window seat and your bathroom. Like the stripe for your hubby's bath. For kitchen stools, I'd do black painted wood frames with upholstered seats (and backs if your stools will have them) or a fully upholstered stool. Can hardly wait to see what you do and how everything comes together!

  63. I'm so behind on my blog reading; I'm going to have to go back and soak in all of your latest posts that I've missed.

I love your fabric choices and the way all the gorgeous details are coming together in your house! What a TREAT for the eyes to see it all unfold!!

    Have a wonderful relaxing Sunday!

  64. The house is looking even better. The great light that pours through shows it off so nicely! Love Teddy, he's the best accent, lol!

The fabrics you have picked are perfect. For your hubby's bathroom, I would use the stripe predominantly, and perhaps accent it with the other fabric since it ties so nicely with the floor. But you don't want too much of the second fabric, otherwise it's too matchy.

You could reuse the present stools you have, they are quite nice, just have them painted accordingly.

Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing week-end!

  67. Your kitchen takes my breath away! Do think the idea of an upholstered seat is a good one, wtih not a very high back, as to add a little softness to all the wood and stone elements.
Fabric for stairway is magnificent, the colors are PERFECT for the wood. Your bathroom I love also, its very soft and elegant and for husband I like both but if I was doing one would probably choose the stripe. However is it possible that you could phootgraph the window you are talking about so we can do a whole visual?
How cute is that Teddy...sure hope he found some crumbs. He is adorable.
Hope you are having a relaxed weekend and got to see The Descendants, we are going actually on Thurs. to see it.

  69. Tina you must be having so much fun designing your new home. I would go with some gray leather bar stools in the kitchen. Love your fabric choices and can't wait to see what you choose. Even I'm excited about your decorating adventure.

  70. Tina I really love to see the fabrics you are choosing. They are like the icing on the cake. Speaking of...with the style of your luxurious home, you may want to talk with Debra (above) re some of her antique textiles, or Jane of Empress of the Eye. I have pillows from both of their collections.

  71. Omg your kitchen ... your blue and white ... sorry I'm having a moment. I love everything! I love all of the fabric choices. I like the stripes for your husbands bathroom, but the other fabric would look great too, it's just my personal preference. I love the fabric you chose for your bathroom. You're house is looking amazing and so inviting. I can't believe you're finally living there! Do you just pinch yourself everyday? I would! Thank you so much for sharing!

  72. Hi sweetie,

Just sent you an email... I can't say how much I love your place. It's pure perfection and I mean it. I can't find one thing it's not "my taste". It's classic, chic, elegant, HUGE yet so homey! I think it's because you put your love and soul in every corner of this place.

About the stools, I'd have linen upholstered stools w/ a different fabric on the back, perhaps a washed linen w/ some blue hues, dark stained wood. Something elegant w/ a classic fabric.

    Have a wonderful day, sweetie.

  73. Bravo on the most beautiful home. Your taste level is beyond words. Not a thing I do not absolutely adore. Very few homes I have seen that I can say that about. A true work of art.

  74. Tina,
Yes...your home is a true work of art as your last commenter said. Every time I look at photos I am amazed by all the detail. The floors are beyond gorgeous and love how they are all different and yet they all work together like pieces of art. Your husbands bath floor is very unique.

  77. What a delight and where to start! I adore the interesting fabric for the window seat and the way the colours marry it all up. The library is going to look amazing and I am gasping at the hall floors now that I see them properly WOW! The fabric for your bathroom is great just a pity the blue is not a tad more intense ( so as to pop). I also vote for the stripes in hubby's bathroom. Your kitchen is just a dream girl and Teddy is a grand movable accesory! Upholstered stools would do it for me in the kitchen for sure.

Thank you so much for your emails and participation in my bloggy fun, you are just wonderful Tina. Have a great week!

    Big thank you hug!!!!

  78. Upholstered chairs with a beautiful fabric for kitchen. I have ones with distressed brown leather and fabric that is different on the front from the back..damask on the front and stripe on the back side with nailhead trim and a creamy white distressed finish on the legs. Love em'. Very french country!

  79. Tina I love everything. I adore the fabric for your bathroom. And my choice for husbands bath is the smaller dark print....looks great with the floors. I know you are having a great time finding a home for all your stored aways pretties. I am so glad I get to come along for the ride. I have started my own little blog.I hope you might check it out thedressedupcottage.blogspot.com
I am just starting and I have a lot to learn. But I have had such fun enjoying other blogs I decided to give it whirl. Wish me luck.

  81. Just sensational...my friend recommended me to your blog and has anyone told you its addicting? I cannot stay away and so far have gone through the last few months of your posts. One home run after another. Your home is "otherworldly", there are no words.
    Keep it coming!

I love everything, and would love to know where you got the ginger jars in your bath and that beautifful silver box resting on your vanity!

  83. I am always drooling when I stop by, Tina! Seriously.
Every little detail is simply spectacular! So thrilled
    for you.
I would choose fully upholstered barstools. I think a little fabric in the kitchen is good. I love the fabric for the window seats. Great choice.

And finally, I like the strip for your hubbies bathroom shade.
But that's just one girls opinion! I know we will all love whatever you decide. Can't wait to see it all completed.

  84. Tina,

I'm back (now that there is a little temporary quietness in my house with the kids in bed) to soak in your pictures one at a time. Every photo has something amazing to admire. I love the hallway floors.. all the floors and every other detail for that matter. Here's what I think: when Betty Lou Phillips writes her next book, your house most definitely should be in it! Either that, or you need to write a book about this house, full of huge double-page photos!

    Have a wonderful week!

  85. I can't believe I rush in each evening to drool over your home!
Everything about it is to die for. You are such talented people with so much style and flair. I love all the fabrics and at the risk of being a minority might select the darker fabric for your husbands room I just adore the fabric in your room - it's so feminine and clean without being fussy. The silver towel holder would look much better in my home I think!! Just kidding. You must wake up every morning so excited to walk around each room and just see what you have achieved. once again congratulations Girl it's one of the best.

  86. I like your bar chairs and I would paint them black! You have a teenaged son and I am sure lots of friends that will be over. While I like upholstered seats, if you can get away with not upholstering it's more practical with kids. I raised two sons and as I am sure you know by now, boys have no awareness of fabrics, other than to wipe fingers they've just eaten chips with! hehe
I do like the fabric you have chosen for your bath and I love the ideal of a long balloon, not too fussy. AND for your hubby's I like the stripe and the dimensional both but prefer the dimensional as it feels more 'manyly' and will be a nice contrast to the flooring!
Love love love all your wood work, the floors through the main hall...oh my goodness, just lov-er-ly!
You have outstanding taste, so whatever you decide with be fab I know!

  87. OK, loved seeing all the rooms coming along. And of course, I LOVE giving you my opinion on what I would do to your totally fabulous house. Love all the fabrics you have selected. For the hubby's bath, I would go with the stripe (thinking the other is to matchy matchy). Then for the kitchen, I love these barstools. I have seen them before, but can't seem to find the original link. But they immediately came to mind for me. http://pinterest.com/pin/94083079685020763/. The ones in this pic are painted white with burlap, but I could also see a deep warm wood tone with linen fabric! Just my thoughts - All that and a bag of chips and you've got lunch!! M.

  88. And now the best part begins.. picking out fabrics is literally my most favorite thing to do. I do have somewhat of a problem with it however, as I get so carried away and end up with dozens of fabrics, trying to make them all work in my house somewhere! What fun.. The Brunschwig and Fils with the blue wavy stripe and toile is fabulous.. FABULOUS!! I've not seen it and feel all anxious inside wondering how I've missed it! SO wonderful!!
You are really coming along.. some of those photos look like you've lived there forever!

  89. Oh my gosh, I just found your blog via Velvet and Linen - Stunning is too wimpy of a word!! Your home takes my breath away, and I'm only on the first post! I love seeing your process, the fabrics, the deliberation over the choices. So... my 2 cents.... I would go with either a wooden kitchen stool that picks up the wood tone in the ceiling beams, or maybe (if you can find it) pick up something that has the same antiqued brass of the fixtures - either one making your eye move around the space and catch all the details of the fabulous materials. I think black might get swallowed up in the island, and there is already a lot of white. The blue vine pattern in your bathroom is gorgeous - just perfect. For hubby's bathroom - the stripe doesn't seem to complement the flooring as well as it might, so I guess I'd go with the darker circular pattern, if it's not too matchy or simply too much "circle" pattern. Would need to see them up against the window (or on the wall) away from the floor a bit. Wow. Vicarious decorating. Love it!!! Thanks so much for sharing your home... I'm off to look through more posts!
