Things I am loving Thursday and house updates!

Good morning...hope everyone is well. We have had so much rain lately, it poured like crazy yesterday and the howling wind made me realize summer is long gone.  Another week going by, all so fast! I cannot believe we are nearly at the end of October. Two months until December......until Christmas? Oh boy.....better buckle up, chaotic endless days are in my future. I must admit it has my head spinning just a little, makes me weak at the knees to think about the growing pressure of moving in, settling, unpacking, preparing for Thanksgiving and then Christmas shopping (this always makes my heart start beating a wee bit faster), as much as I absolutely love Christmas and the magic that is this holiday, I tend to work myself into a frenzy every year. Deep breaths, deep breaths.
This week over at the house, things continue to buzz right along. I think I will be saying this for quite awhile, but most of my time and energies are spent over at the house. At this stage of the game, I am often there more than once a day, but its all good. And fingers crossed yours truly will be moving in mid November, our goal as of right now! Today's post is really all about "house biz", haven't had a lot of time to look into much else but I am NOT complaining one bit!

Before I begin, has anyone heard from or spoken to Angela and Renee from Under Spanish Moss? They are so sweet and haven't posted in over a month they stopped by here practically daily and I haven't heard from them, then I emailed to see if everything was OK, and haven't heard back! I hope all is fine, and they are just super busy or were on a wonderful extended vacation, but if you have spoken to them, please let us know.

First before I begin, here are the results of this weeks Which would you choose? I was happy to see my two personal faves were in 1st and 2nd place!! Though to me, they were all pretty incredible and I don't think there was a slouch in the bunch! Here are the top five with a record number of  over 140 people commenting! Thank you all for participating. You spoke, I heard and here are the results....

Thank you all for participating, I love seeing what all you stylish design divas are loving!

HOUSE UPDATES. Unlike last weeks anti climatic updates (to me at least) this week is a lot more exciting. FINALLY the limestone has arrived for front and they are laying the groundwork to put in the front entrance, I think by next week I will have some great progress to show you. Front door also gets put in today! The butlers pantry had the backsplash put in, I actually had left over from one of the bathrooms, subways so decided to be practical and smart and used that, I really like the way it came out, very timeless and classic. Upstairs floors are done and came out beautiful, we went with a rich medium brown with  no red. Family room staining is just about done...love love love the color! I was going to get pictures tonight but at 6pm they were still working so I couldn't get pictures of it almost finished but the ones below are "in progress"pics! Carpeting getting put in next week and my stove and remaining appliances being delivered on Monday. Painting continues, and overall we are as you can see, making lots of good steady progress!

Kitchen getting ready for ceiling treatment

Family room 1st round of stain and stipping

Just had to peel back the paper and take a peek at my floor....so tired of the paper and cardboard!

The little cabinet between kitchen and butlers, completed with backsplash subways

Window mullions in process of getting painted/glazed

Finish for ceiling in kitchen, to be done by next week

A NEW WALLPAPER FOR BACK POWDER ROOM. I was at the D&D building this week and had so much fun. The three showrooms I spent the most time in and found what I loved was Schumacher, Zoffany and Ralph Lauren. If you are looking for great  wallpaper I think Zoffany and  Schumacher are hard to beat and for traditional, timeless classic kind of fabrics to me, Ralph  still reigns king. I was very very happy to have found a gorgeous wallpaper for the back powder room and I am not looking anymore. I fell in love with it, its the perfect blend of being crisp and fresh but still traditional. Its a done deal!  I found a second similar feeling wallpaper with the slightest hint of metallic gold which I am also determined to use somewhere!

And this is the other that I love, has a hint of gold in the flowers, maybe guest bathroom....

And finally the paper for our guest powder room, went back to one of the originals, it works so well with the honey onyx, its a no brainer. Why overthink this?

Wow I just realized these pictures are REALLY bad, sorry!! But you get the idea, right?

NEW TOPIARIES AND ACCESSORIES FOR MY FUTURE KITCHEN ISLAND. Without giving too much away (still very early on) I am working on a potential future business and have been "experimenting" with different trades people to help me realize a few ideas I have. So far things are looking really good but I am not one to talk too much about things until they are really definitely without a doubt happening. I also know the importance of timing and though I am doing my 'homework' I cannot spread myself too thin, so am concentrating fully on finishing the house and moving.   As things become more definite you can be sure I will share any details with you, but for now this is a pair of topiaries I designed, they are VERY tall about 3 and a half feet, and really pretty!~ Also how do you like the French tray? What do you think? Feedback is important!

HOT OFF THE PRESSES.....the long awaited doors were installed in butlers pantry late today, its an official LOVE for me! ( It was dark and pouring outside so pardon the fair quality in the pictures and they are really dusty but you get the idea)! Hardware comes next week:)

So that's about it for me this week!! Would love to know if there is anything you are loving or want to share!! Always love hearing about something new and exciting. Thanks for stopping by and wishing you all a wonderful day!

  10. I'm so excited for you, Tina! We went through a kitchen redo this year when we bought our present house and let me tell you, my kitchen is probably a quarter of the size of yours, but every little bit of progress gave me chills, it was so much fun! You ask us to tell you what we love about your house, well, there isn't one thing I don't love and I am being really honest. Your choices are impeccably tasteful!

I would love to know what the brand of your powder room faucet is, it's quite a little gem.

  11. I’m so thrilled for you that the limestone has shown up, I can feel your excitement from here. I have to say I’m a tad jealous of your floor in the butler’s pantry it’s stunning! The stain throughout is going to be so rich and warm it’s a gorgeous color. Doesn’t it make you crazy how slowly things move along I would be chomping at the bit to get my kitchen set up and the wallpaper hung.

As for Angela and Renee I have been wondering about them too and haven’t heard a word I hope they fine and simply busy. Keep us posted if you hear from them.

Such elegance~now you must dress up everyday when living amongst such splendor darling!! lol. Your topiaries came out fantastic! And I think I'll have to do another post about beautiful windows just with windows from your house! :) But I guess you could and should do that post. :) That's a good point about the ladies from Spanish Moss - they haven't left a comment on my blog for a while now either...strange that they *both* would be MIA so I'm going to hope for the best and think they are on vacation or just busy with exciting work! I love the wallpaper you chose for the bath - looks great with the tile!

  31. This home reminds me of those breathtaking architectural wonders built in the early 1900's all around Philadelphia. I always get nostalgic for them and wish I could have lived during that time when attention to architectural detail and beauty were of up most importance. Your home has that same wonderful look and it's great that you permit us to see it taking shape before our eyes as well.
Thanks for allowing us to be a small part of this beautiful evolution.

  32. Am a newer subscriber and like everyone else am in awe of this home, built with such fine taste and integrity (not something you see too often with big homes today). Its a nice change! The details are really something, the kitchen and butlers, that floor...LOVE it. And love that you did a black butlers, always loved that really old world vibe.

A few questions, LOVE the topiaries, will you sell those at some point? I am looking for really good ones and haven't found them but love those and really like the silver tray too, it has a nice vintage appeal. I assume its new?
Who makes the wallpapers, I love all three, and am going to show this post to my decorator, I would love to use one or two of them, if you could provide the name and information.
Also who makes your faucet in the powder room? I love the shape, its fantastic. I am in the plumbing stage for my bath and the powder room. If you could share, I would really appreciate it. Thank you for all you do, with such flair and fine taste. Its not a surprise to me, in the short time I have been coming that you are destined to turn your gift into a business of some sort.

  33. Hi, Tina,
I have been wondering about the Spanish Moss ladies myself. Hope all is well.

I am excited that something I picked finally made it to Number 1. I love that kitchen.

I am about as excited to see your house updates as I am for my own kitchen reno. Your house absolutely blows me away. Your attention to detail is amazing and inspiring. I love the new wallpapers you have chosen and that arch-topped glass door is amazing. Where is it in the house?

Your topiaries are dramatic and fabulous, as is the French tray. I have been collecting vintage silver trays and meat domes in anticipation of decorating the display cabinets in my kitchen reno and love the look of silver almost anything. I also use trays throughout my home in virtually every room. Collections look so much better to me when they are displayed on a tray.

Be assured, Tina, when you get your new business up and running -- whatever it may be -- you will have a built-in fan club anxious to become customers.

    Best...Victoria

  35. Hi Tina,
I love reading your blog. It is very inspiring. I think you did a fabulous job with the topiaries. They are perfect scale and balance. I love that they aren't too frilly. The large artichokes/items help them to look a little masculine along with the balance of the curvy lines of the base, they are perfect. Also, I searched and searched for a tray like that silver one. I wanted one that had interesting lines to it but I wanted it to be flat so that I could put it on a counter and place items on it.
I am so excited for you and your new venture.

  38. Beautiful...seems like an understatement, but all the finishes are amazing...the beams, everything! The topiaries you designed are gorgeous and the tray as well. It must be large if the topiaries are 3'...but the scale looks perfect. You really do have exquisite taste and lots of energy!

I loke all of the above comments are excited to hear about your new adventure and look forward to updates as you move ahead with it. But as you say, the house and family come first! 71. Where to begin.....I adore the wallpapers, they are truly magnificent and so nice to see something with creams and golds rather than the usual silver and white. Your bathrooms are going to be glorious. I love everything about your house, but those stained beams are really spectacular and I love your dark timber cabinetry.I can't wait to see you deck the halls for Christmas and a whopping great tree standing there laden with decorations and presents. It's going to be breathtaking.

I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips?
