So what do you think? Do you like wine cellars? Would you want one and think you would use it in your own home? What do you think is the most important thing when designing a wine cellar? Hope you have an enchanting day!
My dear, I think you should definitely have a wine cellar...for the reason that they are usually quite cozy and beautifully built. I am going to have to take a trip to visit when it's done!
ReplyDeleteAll fabulous. My favorites are the neutral colored cellars by Bourgondisch-Kruis. I did a post a while back on an amazing wine cellar by Gil Schafer - also a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing wine cellars. More like wonderful living spaces than storage rooms. You're right, I am green with envy over the one with the brick arches!
ReplyDeleteMine is much more simple. I used the area under my stairs and I keep just over 200 bottles in there as well as having some cabinets for liquer. I'll post pictures on my blog tomorrow.
What fun! I think I link the modern space in Vancouver - so cool! xx
ReplyDeleteI love wine, but like you, can drink it anywhere. My husband, on the other hand, is quite the connoissuer and would love to have a little wine cellar. It just won't work in the house we currently live in. But, one of these days if we ever build our dream house...we just might have to find the space for one!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers to you!!
Oh, how I love these and wish I had one.
ReplyDeleteAltough if I did, I wouldn't see the need for a bedroom, lol!
Happy Monday Sweets,
XO
A riddling rack, several wooden cases of wine and God knows how many bottles in our basement, that's our wine cellar! We keep meaning to do something more organized but it just doesn't seem to be happening. Our cellar is totally lined with giant boudlers and is the perfect temp to keep the wine, good enough! Like you I can drink my wine anywhere and during the summers it just happens to be our front porch stoop looking at all natural has to offer. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI need to drink more!
ReplyDeletePerhaps if I had any one of those lovely wine cellars, I would.
We have a small room in our basement that our children, now in their teens, use for video game playing, but we plan to convert to a wine cellar when they fly the coop. I love the idea of having a table and chairs in the space as well to sit down and have a glass of wine.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes were practically popping out of my head looking at all these beautiful images.
I absolutely love wine cellars as dining rooms. I designed one for a client where you went through an old, spooky door , down a staircase to enter in to a cave with old stone arches and beautiful old English dining chairs and table. Magical space for entertaining. Would almost want it even if you don't drink wine!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think that wine we found in Napa would be happy and right at home in any of those gorgeous spaces!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Jeanne
Perfect timing for your post! Our finishing carpenter is starting today on our wine cellar, the Hubs is going for a look similar to the 5th image with the frame-less glass wall. I just hope we have wine left to put in it by the time the house is done!
ReplyDeleteSuch a luxury- I'd actually be happy for a wine fridge, let alone a whole cellar. I actually like the last one most of all- relaxed, a little quirky, understated and very feminine. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe Elizabeth Carney cellar is gorgeous. I love the more rustic cellars also.
ReplyDeleteI have friends who have the wine cellar rooms with the tables and parties are held in the cellar and a re mostly rustic.
Have a great week, Tina.

xoxo Love visiting.
Who wouldn't want a wine cellar? It's such a good excuse to shop for fine wines, too. Love these examples. Thanks for the follow! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE photos one and two. Those are so me! Any of them would be so my husband because they house wine!
ReplyDeletewhat i wouldn't give for a house with a wine cellar. or just a wine wall!
ReplyDeleteI like cavernous feeling wine cellars. Our very good friends have one and the wife uses it go walk into when she's having a hot flash! Duel purpose! lol! I would totally go for it if I were you! I can't wait to see your place all finished! And thank you for your oh-so-nice comments you leave me. They really make my day. :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteAll cellars evoke feelings of: discovery, mystery, history and architectural fact finding. Shared in intimate settings the materials, lighting, colors, textures and of course the archive of wine is the art of the presentation.
The goal is experience of feelings that and afford us celebration it's a treasured one. The cellar draws us through our love of mystery. It is a current day
adventure that we live to take on any one of these cellars will handle that task and store the history of corks perfectly. Salute!
Bette
I think I'd be happy in any of these, I'm sure their wine is divine! I do like the four lounge chairs in the middle. Comfy spot to do some tasting!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found my blog. Your blog is exquisite.
I so much would love a wine cellar but it would have to be in a cozy and inviting way such as the first two images. A place where I can go sit down and actually use it for something more than to store wine. what do you think?
Have an excellent week.
Hi Tina!
ReplyDeleteI have seen several cellars that had a tasting space incorporated and I think those are fun for serious wine lovers. I designed one awhile ago that had a seeded glass door with leaded details which echoed the detail running through the kitchen. It was more of a wine "walk in" closet though :)
Amy
I love the idea of having company over and dining in the wine cellar.
ReplyDeleteWe have a small wine room that we can't seem to keep stocked. We keep drinking all the wine. Ha! Ha! If you have the resources to stock it and love wine then why not?
Great post!
Have a great week and thank you for all of your wonderful comments! I love every one of them.
Heather
What a luxury to have a wine cellar in your home...I would absolutely love to have one! My favorite you pictured was the cellar from the Belgian firm of Bourgondisch-Krui, amazing!
ReplyDeleteThese are ALL amazing.
ReplyDeleteI covet a cellar with a table in the middle of it for wine tasting. There would have to be a fridge down there to store cheese though!!!
These are all lovely but my favorites are the smaller more intimate ones. We did a tiny wine room under the stairs between the kitchen and dining room, in the butler pantry area. I love it. It's small and quaint and really functional. You should be able to get lots of ideas from these when you are ready to work on yours. That will be fun! Mona
ReplyDeleteWoaw its really luxury to have a own winecellar..if I hade a house with the space, and intresed in wine I would definitly have a cellar..no doupt about it !!!
ReplyDelete..and the images you show us today..I like the first one best..It reminds me of a lovely and amazing wine cellar from franch
This is something my husband would love...but for now the "La Cave" is a wine refrigerator in the garage and a small one in the house. It would be fun!
ReplyDeleteThose are amazingly awesome wine cellars! Which one of those have you chosen to get some ideas for your house?

We had a wine cellar growing up that was more hole in the wall than fabulous tasting room... Love these images but would have to agree with you that there are at least 25 other things I'd like to tackle before building one myself. My favorite place for a glass of wine is by my bath!

I am now receiving your posts as a newsletter in my email box, just wanted to let you know that when I saw these wine cellars yesterday I was so amazed! Never thought such glamorous - and magical! - places even existed...
ReplyDeleteHugs & kisses from Rio!

I don't drink wine, and my husband rarely drinks, so no need for a wine cellar, but I love the north Vancouver apartment :)
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful! We had hoped to put a wine cellar in, but (long story short), it just wasn't feasible. so instead we turned the bonus room over our garage into a wine "attic" (HA!). It's actually going to be on Brooklyn Limestone as my favorite nook in the next couple of weeks!
ReplyDeleteFantastic cellars - truly stellar. They are quite inspiring. For more modest budgets have a look at our racking and modular cellar. The permutation are endless meaning every cellar could be bespoke.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I may have to try this with myWine Fridge. So many ideas....so little time. :) Thanks for the tips. :)
ReplyDeleteToo much time on your hands methinks!
ReplyDeleteIs this what having loads of cash results in? Endless daydreaming....come on people, get a life and try doing something productive with your time!
Wow, as a home cellar some of these are little more 'inspirational' than what I had in mind. I have to date found one that seems interesting. Spiral Wine Cellars look great and take a little less space. (Essentially a spiral stair sunk into your floor with wine bottles or produce stored in the walls as you descend). Search Spiral Wine Cellar on Google and you will find - enjoy
ReplyDeleteThese are some incredible wine cellars. Any idea how much wine cellar installation in Lawrenceville GA would be? Looks like the design would be the most time consuming portion.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for a way to incorporate wine space under a floating staircase! We're renovating a large beach house and blogging about it. Please stop by and share your thoughts on the wine/staircase. We'd love to hear from you. http://www.yourmoneymattersinc.ca/2013/07/1510/
