And a happy Saturday to you. I am SO excited. My long long long awaited floors (the reclaimed limestone floors for my kitchen/breakfast/mudroom/pantry) came in yesterday!! They look AMAZING! The installation is starting today and you better believe I am going to be snapping away with my camera!
What is more enchanting than a beautiful, slightly overgrown, lush garden? Then when you top it off with a gorgeous aged moss covered piece of statuary- you have yourself a little slice of heaven! Even if you don't have the blessing of a green thumb, you will still be able to appreciate the incredible gardens here. I have never been a fan of an overly landscaped yard and cringe at some the butchering landscaping that I have seen at newer homes around me. Give me a few old trees, a piece or two of old aged gracefully statuary, maybe a small lily pond if you are feeling so inclined and a few flowering bushes......I am not hard to please!
What is it about old mature landscapes that captivates us the way it does? Is it because we see it as a representation of a different era, a quieter more gentile period where time actually stood still and you could pause to savor and bask in the beauty compared with our hurried lives now where we barley have a moment to breath? Nothing can "take me away" quite as much as a beautiful garden or landscape. So enjoy this little slice of heaven for just a few minutes and join me as we go back in time to a few enchanted gardens............(I feel like this is the part where I should have beautiful background music playing preferably Mozart or Beethoven to help set the mood for this post...but I am not quite that tech savvy...........yet!) So please use your imagination, relax and enjoy.....)

ReplyDeleteYour choices that you shared here are enchanting and exactly the types of gardens that I love too. Your posts inspire me daily. Today I am adding Pachysandra ground cover and urns to my list of spring garden up-dates.
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm ready to start digging - wow!!! Love it. Linda (I'm a new follower!)
ReplyDeleteAhhhh beautiful gardens.....I love places to sit and hear the birds sing. Can't wait to see your kitchen!
ReplyDeletethese are some lush landscapes! quite inspiring too since i'm yet to plant anything in the yard! great Saturday morning post:-)
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine with all items starting to arrive for your home it feels like Christmas in spring. How exciting!
Of course I also love historic estate gardens, church grounds gardens, memorial and park gardens. Finding visual motivation is the best source for gardens projects. Hardscapes, softscapes, water features, plant identification, lighting, ornaments and a persistent attitude is needed because these projects are phased in layer upon layer at a time.
We all love secret gardens because it's wonderland live. I'm always so taken, even to the point of tears, by beautiful gardens and some garden tours. It's nature's scent, stone, light, color, texture, all landscaped beautifully into a
symphony. Highlighted by the sun rise and set, wind, rain, and fog of life with gardens like these it takes one breath away.

For someone like me who loves gardens this post was a dream. I loved all those images, such good ones, of mature gorgeous gardens with old statuary and ornamentation. I went on a garden tour of the Cotswolds in England last summer and many of these pictures reminded me of what I saw there. You might enjoy the book "Elizabeth and Her German Garden" by Elizabeth von Armin, it has the mood that your are writing about, escaping from the world in a garden paradise.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!! I love the formal, symmetrical layouts..like the royal French gardens of Versailles!!
ReplyDeleteThese gardens are stunning! Love the old world ambience of all the beautiful limestone, gazebo's, urns and statuary. Nothing better than the soothing sounds of a bubbling fountain, now I need to get outdoors and get busy. Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'm so looking forward to the pictures of your floors. Always amazing posts!

ReplyDeleteThese gardens are beautifully luxurious! We live close to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa. and are members so visit it often! It is gorgeous and ever changing. It was the former estate of Henry Francis DuPont. Hope you get to see it one day! Can't wait to see your kitchen come together!!!!! XO, Pinky PS, we do have a small pond with fish in our yard. It is so relaxing to hear the water falls and watch the fish. I can't wait to open it up and get it running again!!!!

ReplyDeleteI was going to work in my garden today but have been derailed with gardens of grandeur, besides it 95 degrees so I am easily swayed to be appreciative of others. Beaux art walls and railings have always been a favorite of mine. I can't wait ti see your fabulous floors! :)
ReplyDeleteThe most beautiful gardens are those Bunny Mellon has planned--including the Rose Garden at the White House. Here are some examples--it's even more enchanting in person.

Wow your blog is amazing and thank you for your kind words about mine! So glad to have found you! Heather
ReplyDeleteStunning! Those gazebos and water features look amazing! Have a lovely weekend, Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteI love all styles of gardens, but I'm particularly fond a my style...."controlled chaos" I call it. That's a garden that is just about to grow completely beyond it's boundaries, where everything is a few days away from a good clipping, very full and lush, just about to get way of hand. I do have a soft spot for a nicely clipped parterre and some smooth gravel walkways though.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely images...they put me in the mood to garden!
every image is outstanding.
ReplyDeletethe good news is ....
you have enough property to make your garden
{or several}
a life long project.
keep visualizing xxxxx
