OK I will admit it....I am a bit obsessed with white marble. Carerra, Calacutta, Thasos,Bianco Venata..... I am on a first name basis with each and every one.  Is there any room that isn't beautifully enhanced and transformed with the use of mans oldest material...I think not. It is timeless, elegant, fresh and adds a certain amount of light to a room. I have been getting myself knee deep in marble lately, between choosing bathrooms and now looking at slabs for my countertops in the kitchen and all the bathrooms. (just starting the slab looking)

So today I honor my good friend, white marble in all its glory and all the magnificent ways it graces our homes.  Used in countless bathrooms, kitchens and throughout other areas of the home, white marble is the ultimate in luxury, beauty and understated elegance. Some of the skeptics say it is not practical....personally I do not agree, in Europe its used everywhere!

I lived with it for almost 8 years in my old kitchen and can say that with the exception of a few things that you have to be aware of (not putting lemon or red wine directly on it) and using common sense as you would with any surface, it proved to be very practical, durable and more than anything so beautiful. Every time I walked into my kitchen, it gave me such an incredible feeling.....I never tired to being in my kitchen and the white marble played a big part in that. Sealing marble is key and it is recommended you do this once a year, which I was pretty vigilant about. So here is the white marble parade......and if this doesn't make you a white marble convert, I would venture to say nothing will... I personally am and a big one at that! Let me know if you have a favorite..........

  1. Hello Dear Tina!

Wonderful post in every single way! Every image chosen was taking my breath away! I'm also obsessed with "white" marbles. Obsessed!

This post didn't help much with my obsessions, actually! It made me love it even more! :-)

    Have a great day, sweetie!

Wow this is sensation overload! I love white marble and this comes at a good time becuase we just decided to give our 12 year old kitchen a makeover and I really would like to go with white marble. These pictures are a m a z i n g!
I cant believe how much eye candy there is in one post. Excellent post and really helping me visualize.

  3. I absolutely adore white and gray marble. I have it in my kitchen in one home and I'm redoing the master bath in our Hamptons home with white marble. It is timeless, chic and always lends itself to a sophisticated space. Also, that laundry "room" half way down the page is off the charts!

  4. Very nice pictures as always, but I am afraid I still find it hard to like marble. Maybe it's because I am from Europe, because, as you say, it is mostly everywhere here and more often that not it has not been taken care of. I guess this is why marble always make me think of dirty hotelrooms that have seen better days and forgotten stairwells...

I do agree that is is beautiful though... it's just that it gives me bad associations.

  5. I'm obsessed with white marble in kitchens and baths. My favorite for the kitchen is a white honed carrara marble...so warm and classic!! Gorgeous inspiration to start my day, Tina

  7. Oh, what a way to start a day! Marblelicous!

My response to your question:"What do you think about the mix of porcelain and marble?" I don't like it. I think it looks like they ran out of marble or money. I think a herringbone pattern made out of marble subways would have been better, in my opinion.

  9. Such a remarkable selection there really weren't any rooms or uses I wouldn't love looking at everyday. The immense slab in the bathroom is very effective, and the black dots also stands out. An amazing collection Tina, very (very!) appealing.

May you enjoy a stellar Wednesday,

I also love that "sink loving" shot - one of my favorites. And just wanted to point out the in #7 Tria Giovan is actually the photographer - she is wonderful and I am doing a photo shoot with her tomorrow!!

  14. Tina,

I'm obsessed with white marble in ALL it's glory and stunning appearances in kitchen's and bathrooms. So Tina you're not alone. Seeing all these beautiful images, my pulse rate increases, and I can visualize myself being in all of these spaces anytime on any day.

Love it in herringbone, checked, mosaic, inlay, subway tiles, basketweave, solid, and mixed with shades of white, off white, creamy beige, alabaster, dove gray, deep gray, gunmetal gray, and walnut browns, ebony and of course black.

Marble transforms a space as well as a space softens marble despite it's solid feel it has a masculine and feminine side. I love it and it affects me emotionally
in beautiful design. I'm so excited that your using it in your new home and I love
the floor choice for your son's bathroom.

Marble is, for me, is exciting in a home and in hotels, it's classy, and jaw dropping, chic, and timeless in seduction. I agree that common sense care makes it's allure that much stronger. I wish I could wear it...LOL!

    Bette

I'll be looking at it for three bathrooms and kitchen counters also when it's the time for our renovation.

I used honed white carerra marble on the countertops and a combination of white marble and black granite on the floor.I've loved the look of black & white floors since I was a young girl, so I know I will never tire of it.Have a beautiful day.

  26. I love the clean white marble - also, I'm a sucker for the black & white marble floors...timeless. I like a touch of marble - countertops, a floor, not so sure I like it top to bottom everywhere. Marble in the laundry room...hmm...Remains of The Day. House next to mine - an old mansion, has marble in the butlers pantry, fireplaces, molding in entryway, all bathrooms - old marble. I don't think the new (very young) owners appreciate what they have!

  38. This house screams luxury. This is almost castle-like. White is said to be a boring color, but the way you designed your home, it doesn’t have even just a speck of boredom at all. Just be careful with those. It is very susceptible to dirt. Marble tiles won't go out of trend. In fact, it even adds value to your home!

What is good about marbles is they blend well with various furniture styles. Also, marbles come in many colors. But if you want a style that won’t fade easily, choose white!

There is a certain sense of elegance and orderliness created by the use of marble tiles. What I love the most among these photos is the marble bathroom at Hotel Le Meurice in Paris. I’ve been there once, and I was simply amazed with how they were able to make beautiful use of marble tiles.
