Bonkers over belljars!

Hi there, hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  Well its obvious that I love belljar lighting. Besides the fact that I sell them, have them in my own home, I have also used them for different design jobs that I have worked on and find them to be some of the most versatile lighting out there. They are classically beautiful and with the different designs, they can lean more towards very traditional all the way to more modern. I love them!

As I am starting to wrap up some lighting decisions in my own home (a number of areas that still do not have lighting), I had a "aha" moment and realized that the perfect solution was under my nose the entire time! The belljars of course. So, several are en route to me as we speak and I can hardly wait!

I particularly love my line (yes I am partial) as they are done with beautiful hand etched detailing...very special plus the heavy discount makes them even prettier:) So today a look at gorgeous belljars and all their many possibilities. How about you? Own any? Would like to? Putting this post together has me wanting to put belljars in every room! Take a look and see what you think....

  1. Oh that photo of the PORCH with the aqua ceiling from The Newlywed Diaries, Tina! YES! They are not just limited to the inside, although they make a beautiful statement there! Lovely as usual, and I really am enjoying Brooke's fabulous Patina Farm style that she's been sharing!

  2. Tina- what a beautiful beautiful post. I was drooling over every single picture and you saved the best for last, your kitchen!

I love belljars too and you have me thinking about a few spots in my home that might work perfectly for a pair of belljars. Love your collection.

  6. I love the look of a bell jar. However, I have found that they are a pain to clean. While most of these shown look fairly reachable, my former home had one in a 2-story foyer. It was a major undertaking to get a tall ladder high enough to be able to get your arm down into the jar to clean. (It was a pretty deep jar.) While I love the look of the ones shown on an exterior porch, all I can think about is the amount of bugs that will accumulate in there every night.

  7. Tina-

These are such amazing images. I am bookmarking this page. We are moving in Oct. after a year long renovation and I am so excited and antsy to begin the decorating. We are just now starting on lighting. I definitely want belljars in my kitchen and in a few baths, but now think I need them in the hallway after seeing this post! Your belljars are so beautiful too and I know the prices are really good.

For the person above about the cleaning, Frontgate made a special brush of sorts that was specifically for cleaning lanterns/bell jar type lighting that is super to keep the dust and bugs out. You should look at it, its a great little item.

Thank you for this beautiful post so full of great inspiration.

  10. Can I trade my master bedroom and all that goes along in it for that private reading nook? How often I have dreamed about curling up in an alcove like that. Heaven! Off to read about your trip! Have a great week, Tina. I'm adjusting to the new testosterone at home again. :)

  11. What a beautiful post. I am in love with so many images and having a ball pinning away.

Love your kitchen the most, Tina. I cannot imagine any other lighting there but those belljars. I never realized how many rooms they look so great in though, foyers, bathrooms, and hallways. I love them in 2's and 3's. Really appreciate the work it took to put this together.

  16. Fabulous roundup of bell jar lanterns! In April, I shipped, from Paris, a fabulous antique garden cloche converted to a bell jar lantern. It arrived perfectly intact. But I didn't tighten a screw when I hung it :( Yes, it was a devastating and costly error. Your collection is beautiful and very elegant!!

  20. Tina your belljars are gorgeous! I love all the images you've shown. Unfortunately I do know one place they don't work well and that's an antique farmhouse. We've tried them in many places and they just don't really work. I'll just have to drool over yours from afar.

  32. Hello my beautiful Tina!

Before anything, I want to apologize for being gone for so long... We're having a busy summer, so many activities for the kids and when we're not doing something here, we're traveling. I love summer, but I'm looking forward some quiet time in September! :-)

How's everything with you? I hope you're having a great summer too, Tina!

Now, this post is incredible, but I have to say that I love your kitchen more than any other image here... your kitchen is PERFECT!!!!

    Lots of LOVE to you,

  35. I love bell jars as well. I have one hanging in my foyer from a very high ceiling. While that cleaning tip might be helpful--my bell jar is extremely fragile. The thought of using a brush to clean it I find nerve-wracking. I'll stick with the ladder and dust cloth method.

  36. Have always loved bell jars. Even took one from our old house when we moved. It was an inexpensive one that I found at Home Depot years ago, but it had the classic lines. They discontinued it, and I was alway nervous when I was cleaning it, cause I new I wouldn't be able to replace the bell if it broke.
In our new house, my husband and I 'compromised' for the lights over the island. I wanted Bell Jars, but he didn't want clear glass, we ordered school house pendants, cause of the milk glass. They came in, I didn't like them, so we returned them, went to a different company and found bell jars with milk glass swirly glass. I got my 'shape', he got his 'glass'. can I upload a pic here? I don't see how.

  37. All so gorgeous and we're bananas about belljars too. Sadly, our antique homes have low ceilings and we just can;t see how we can use them. We'd be banging into them all the time! Welcome back from your travels.

  41. Just was at the Paris fleamarket (Les Puces) yesterday and inquired about a bell jar hanging lamp. Pricetag: 1000 euros. She said it was authentic Charles X....great but, I could use the repro! Gorgeous cut glass grapevine design and rimmed with bronze. One of those 'AHHHH' pieces - so beautiful it takes your breath away for an instant.
