Good morning to you. Nice that its the weekend, no real pressure to "preform" and on top of that it is suppose to rain cats and dogs and get rather nasty. Perfect excuse to stay in and get some much neglected odds and ends around the house done. Got a migraine yesterday that was stubborn and didn't get worse but didn't go away, still not feeling 100% so it will be a low key day filled with reality TV (guilty pleasure) , reading and maybe some work depending on how I feel. This has become one of my favorite kind of days (minus the migraines)! I just finished The Paris wife, really enjoyed it. Have a list of things to start...are you reading anything worth sharing? Today is a short hodge podge of some random things going on around here.
First....let there be light! I forgot the thrill of when new fixtures are hung. Well.....we finally got our sconces hung over the main staircase and the hallways, we are still waiting on 6 more but it gives the overall affect and boy, what a difference. Love the way it looks!
We are still short 6 fixtures, they were backordered and we are waiting on them
Amazing the difference lighting makes, don't you think?
And though my paper for the main powder room is not in, I had them also hang the bird sconces I bought four years ago, I just couldnt' stand it....was dying to see them up and I am in love. These are some of my all time favorites and work really well with the paper. At last this bathroom is coming together! Now this week i am on a mission to find fabric for the drapes for this bathroom and then it will be complete!!
And last little tidbit, changed out my amaryllis flowers with new orchids, still have to plant the moss but think orchids and blue and white go together like peanut butter and jelly, what do you think? Hope you are having a great weekend!
Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Sunday!
Wow your staircase is a dream!! Keep posting more!

Lovely, lovely, lovely as usual! That staircase is so grandiose! And the bird sconces are to die for, can't wait to see the wallpaper up.
ReplyDeleteHad a couple of migraines myself too this week, uuugh! I've been advised to stay away from my beloved Excedrin Migraine until they figure out what causes the inflammation they found during a colonoscopy, so I can only take Tylenol and that just doesn't cut it. Fun.
Enjoy your quiet Sunday!
Love the Bagues sconces! I purchased a couple Bird sconces by Bagues and never installed them...you just inspired me. The Paris Wife is such a great read, really enjoyed it. I am currently reading the life story of Isabella Gardner (my husband's nutty aunt) interesting as it is a testament to that period of great writers, actors and flamboyant life style.
ReplyDeleteAm off to look at your new site, and praying for rain to come.
OMG!!! That staircase is divinely decadent and grandiose. I would love to sweep down there with a ball gown.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend from Spain x
Hi, Tina!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! Details...How the railing swoops across that window! You also have that gorgeous railing on the second floor where you can see down below. (In a previous picture) Just beautiful!
Have a nice day!

Absolutely magnificent in every way..that staircase and hallway are breathtkaing! And your bathroom with those fabulous bird sconces, who makes them? I love your attention to detail. Its so old world and elegant. This is a house that I am sure will eventually grace many a magazine page.
ReplyDeleteThose sconces are GORGEOUS!! love the lighting that is in the hallways also! Beautiful touches!
ReplyDeleteHello Tina,
ReplyDeleteI hope that you feel better...a little mindless tv, some snacks and a hot drink are just what is called for on a rainy day.
The rain is horrible here too, I am reading and baking. I loved the Paris wife. Have you read The Glass blowers daughter? Or Good Things I wish You? Both excellent reads, just finished them this week.
I love all of your sconces, they look fabulous! The ones with the birds are my favorite. I cannot wait to see the bathroom finished.
Enjoy your day, Elizabeth
Love the sconces and they look so pretty with their soft glow. I bet you have them on dimmers and at night you can make them look like candles glowing. Omgosh it is so beautiful. Thanks for the reminder I have to get an orchid for my living room. I can just see your two large blue and white urns on your entry console, that would be so striking and grand for your grand entry hall. I love visiting your home even if it is only virtually, always a pleasure. Rest and feel better soon, xo Kathysue
ReplyDeleteUnbelieveable what the right lighting will do to a staircase or hallway. Yours are elegant and beautiful.

Tina,
ReplyDeleteThose bird sconces are GORGEOUS and the stair case is amazing! Imagine the photos your hubby can take as you step down in a beautiful gown :) Your orchids look so pretty and every time I see your home (and all the blue and white pieces!) I feel like I need to pop over to your store to buy more!
Sorry to hear that you are recovering from another one of those migraines.. I have friends that get them and have seen how awful they are. Hopefully as time passes you will stop getting them.
Enjoy your Sunday!

The sconces are lovely! They are like little jewels hanging on your gorgeous staircase. I am so sorry about the migraine. I have had them for 15 years and am just now getting a handle on them. I have had to change my diet and I have to drink tons of water. No fun at all... Get some rest and I hope you feel better!!
ReplyDeleteTina, the staircase with the sconces lit is breathtaking ~ a dream, really. Your bird sconces are simply beautiful! Your home is such a feast for my eyes. Thank you for your posts and I'm sending sunshine and warm temps from Austin!
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteIt is so fun to watch as your home takes shape. Thank you for sharing. The bird sconces are breathtaking and will be amazing with the wallpaper in the powder room. Your stairway is fit for royalty. One suggestion, though. While I love the way you built up the blue and white porcelain on your sofa table, the lamps seem like they are the wrong scale/color for that space.
Your updates are always my favorite! That staircase looks like a queen should be walking down in a beautiful ball gown! Do you have daughters? Whta a perfect house for a grand elegant wedding, and what a staircase for a bride to walk down.
ReplyDeleteLove the lighting in the hall and those beautiful bird sconces. Your blues and white are also amazing and have me on a blue and white kick now!
Your sconces are gorgeous Tina and I'm so loving your staircase, beautiful! This is a remarkably short post for you so I can tell you aren't feeling well. I hope your migraine goes away quickly!

Wow, the lighting up the stairs looks amazing and I love the sconces in the powder room. Hope your migraine is gone! Yuck!
ReplyDeleteHope your migrane is going away. I love everything you are doing, you're a great interior designer. I imagine your floors are marble, I can't tell from the pics. Our floors are black and white marble too. Happy Earth Day.

ReplyDeleteTina used to get migraines really bad 2 day ones. I started acupuncture and their frequency has decreased substantially, worth looking into it if they are a regular occurance. For me they were debilitating, moving on to your magnificent home. Reminds me of a really fine small French boutique hotel, so so beautiful. Love how elegant everything is. The hallway and staircase are just amazing and the bathroom is shaping up to be jewel box of a space. Cannot wait to see it finished. Keep the pictures coming so much fun to follow along!
ReplyDeleteOh dear I hope you're feeling 100% very soon! Your sconces are divine!!
ReplyDeleteHello hello! I am sneaking in at the very last minute of the weekend to say hello and tell you how much I love the bird scones! Just wonderful Tina!
ReplyDeleteI love how the house is coming together and how each corner is filled with your warm energy. Must be so much fun and rewarding to see all the hard work result in something so wonderful. Very happy for you!
Hugs and happy weekend (what is left of it) from Sweden!

PS> I also suffer from migraines and know how paralyzing they can be. I hope it eased during course of the day and that you got to enjoy a pain-free afternoon.

Looking good! Could be The George V - East Coast! Do you get that reminiscient feeling every time you walk the hallways? Only thing missing is daily room service - ha!
ReplyDeleteWe share the same guilty pleasure (reality TV) What's your fave...if you're not too embarrassed to say :)
Yes, love white orchids in blue & white vases as well as white tulips with just the right amount of droop.
I hope those dang migraines go away for your sake! AND...I need to read a book......any book...just something. Things are looking good around "Casa Tina"......!
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better Tina! I just read The Paris Wife too and also enjoyed it - what a different life and time. I love the new stairway lighting - it looks like it would lead you down in a lovely gown to a royal ball...wow!
ReplyDeleteI love how the sconces look, Tina, especially those beautiful bird sconces in the bathroom. I hope you feel better now and that you can find some relief from those migraines.
ReplyDeleteAll the best...Victoria
That staircase TAKES MY BREATH AWAY!!!! It is so magnificent and the sconces are perfection there! LOVE the bird sconces in the bath too, gorgeous. I am sorry I haven't been around, we are just SO busy getting ready for OUR move, and getting this house ready to show. It is a monumental job, as you know. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteYour sconces are so romantic! I am in love with them where ever I see them. But the color and those birds! I am thrilled when ever I see this lovely home. Have fun, Pearl

ReplyDeletethe loveliest of sconces in your bathroom! so pretty! The blue and white display is beautiful, Tina - moss or not :)
ReplyDeleteYour staircase is stunning and I would walk it up and down few hours a day to get a work out and enjoy the beauty(:
ReplyDeleteand light fixtures, it is just a lovely sight Tina, yes they make difference, we have been exchanging ours in the whole house slowly, and it is one of my favourite things to change: the least mess from it and a huge impact!! thanks for sharing, hugs Z
I'm dreaming of living in this beautiful home! That staircase is beyond amazing! What a sparkle you've added to my day, thank you!

Tina: I shared the same day as you did. Chilly here with a fire in the fireplace!! So awesome. Read magazines, ripped images worth keeping and tossed a ton!!
ReplyDeleteLove the grand staircase and your chosen lighting. Yes, you are right, it really sets it all of so beautifully. In fact, I love all that you have done so far.
Give Teddi a hug from me!!

Your home is an absolute fairytale - SO beautiful! The bird sconces are divine - I LOVE them. It's so true about how lighting can make such a difference. I am awaiting delivery of two chandeliers for my home, and the waiting is absolutely killing me. I just know that they will transform my drawing room and hallway so I'm just fizzing with excitement. Of course my husband doesn't see what the fuss is all about - after all, he says "a bare light bulb still emits light doesn't it"! Thank GOODNESS for my Blog friends...sigh!
ReplyDeleteThe lights are gorgeous, especially the bird lights! Lighting does make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI sympathize and empathize with your having a migraine. I pray today you feel "yourself" again.
The space feels a little too empty.
