Dust is settling and moving update.....

Before I begin this post, I want to thank the 50 or so of you who so kindly and generously gave so much amazing information on London. Wendy and I are both so grateful and now I am craving a trip there myself. Needless to say several already told me they are bookmarking this post as I already have. You are the best! Fodors has nothing on you!

Hi, well suffice to say I am feeling a little calmer today than I was this time last week. I cannot believe we have been in the house 10 days! It has been exhausting, exciting beyond description and exhilarating all at the same time. Moving is no laughing matter and the last time I did a big move where I fully unpacked was 10 years ago and lets just say theres a big difference between 30 something and 40 something:) But I do believe the worst, most exhausting and hardest part is over and I will admit its been fun opening up boxes and rediscovering so many of my pretty little treasures (treasures to me).

At this point I am putting things away and know that they will be rearranged all over again in the future. After all that is part of the fun, don't you think? I remember after being in our old house even after 7 or 8 years, I was still always fiddling around, adding to, moving things around. So here's some of the latest, not a tremendous difference from last weeks post but little things here and there, a real hodge podge of things happening around here....

Though I am petrified of heights, had to share this cool view from 2nd floor down to basement
Teddy adjusting to his new digs, took a few days!! Thanks to many of you who asked about how he was doing!
Finally he is happy.......

I love the sun that streams through in the late morning
Feeling right at home....and that window is perfect because he can see right through!
Remember the hardware for island? Well here it is completed, love it

Family room is a room we are enjoying immensely!
Got the antique mirror and panel applied above opening (hard to see the ant. mirror in this pic)

2 chairs flanking doors in my room

My favorite chest, this picture shows the color better for those who asked.....

Beautiful desk and chair from France

Floors all done
Small landing

More boxes arriving......WARNING for anyone not into china,silver,etc...this might be incredibly boring to those of you not obsessed with this stuff :)
Loved getting reacquainted with all my goodies and collectibles!
Love these glasses, but upset that I so far haven't found them all!
My beautiful antique Limoges

Love this service too!

And of course always had a weakness for beautfiful silver pieces......

And my pair of crystal dolphin bowls

My silver ice bucket from my wedding!
One of my favorite gallery trays (yes thats Dayquil on the tray) forgot to take it off, was about to take it for the cold I have been fighting:)
Love the detailing on this exquisite soup ladle, I bought at an antiques store in Vermont

Love this beautiful little covered dome dish for things like asparagus or veges

Isn't this cherub dish beautiful?

Love and missed my Dolphin crystal bowls

Love this silver angel compote dish, its quite old
The Limoges to my left were the very first set of Limoges that I bought!

My good luck "charm", my wedding cake topper from 26 years ago! Its goes wherever we go!

Love my coffee and tea pots in silver

Remember these little beauties that I found at the antique store?

This is a beautiful service from Nippon

Lots of polishing in the future!

And at the end of another long day of unpacking, a dear friend brought over these scrumptious cupcakes from a favorite bakery and the most beautiful housewarming gift, this stunning William Yeoward domed cake plate!! Love it......

Clearly it has many new "family members" to get acquainted with and plenty of company:)

Love it!! Will be cherished for many years to come......

We are using the family room a lot, its such a comfortable and cozy room

I am sorry for including so many pictures of the china, crystal, etc...clearly you can see I love that stuff! For anyone like me, hopefully you enjoyed it and sorry for boring anyone else. Its just so exciting for me to see these things after being in hiding for 4 years!! Much more to come soon I promise! Enjoy your day....

  1. Hi Tina! I loved looking at your treasured collections~thats what makes a house a home, doesn't it? I am in love with your limoges!! Oh my, from the first set to the last, all so fantastic. I bought a big collection of limoges from my elderly neighbors estate sale, but it is more simple in pattern with a pretty garland of lilac roses and green leaves around the rims and a bit of gold as well. So pretty~love all the silver too!! I just am going to love seeing all your house progress as you make it. Happy to see Teddy has a world view over his shoulder there...one question it brought to mind was do you worry about his nails scratching all the wood floors? Ours are so scratched now from Dillon. Do you cordon off an area just for him?

  2. Hello Tina! Your blog is AMAZING! You wright very well!
I LOVE these stuff too! I´m a china painter...and Limoge is so beautiful I also like Sévres.
Thanks to share your beauties, your home and so many other things (girly stuff):)
Have a nice day and be happy!

  4. Well, that was fun! As I sat enjoying all your lovely things, I wondered what you use to clean your silver. Serena

  5. Good Morning Tina,
That is a wonderful collection of china, crystal, & silver. I never get tired of looking at beautiful things. I told you, when you start unpacking boxes after having them in storage for awhile, it's just like Christmas all over again. Love the house warming present. How beautiful is that!! You are very lucky to have such great family & friends.

Did you take you pills on the silver tray?

Hope you are feeling a great deal better. Cannot wait to see the next round of how your new home is shaping up!

  6. Oh it's really looking like home now! I can see why you are weary with so much to do, but, yes the excitement of unpacking and being reunited with favorite things is second to none. We've finally begun unpacking boxes that we brought over from the U.K three years ago that have been patiently waiting for us in our garage. We just never had a place for all my china, or enough bookcases for my mountain of books until now, and it is a joy to finally place these loved treasures. Enjoy, the worst is over! hugs Sally @ Enlightenment for the Sleepy xxx

It is looking fabulous and I adore the second image with the sun streaming in, the gorgeous chairs and even fresh flowers in the vase - you are too much, Tina. As a Southerner, I love all things silver, crystal and china, so your display is a feast for my eyes!! Love the gallery tray, but the antique limoges china...gorgeous!! It is all coming together beautifully...

The staircase is incredible, you so need a bride to waltz down that staircase, do you have a daughter?

The peeks I am getting of the house are just jaw dropping, Tina. This is the start of the fun part, so enjoy it. I remember unpacking all my finds too and it felt like Christmas all over again after being stored for 2 years I cannot imagine 4. Keep it coming, so much fun to see. 23. Hello Tina,

Everything is coming along so beautifully, I am in love with your butlers pantry! So many fabulous treasures to keep in there. Limoges is a favorite of mine too, I also went to school there for a summer and have many friends that live there still.

I have to say that Teddy looks beautiful and comfy in front of the window, and the cupcakes look yummy too.

Hope your cold is getting better, take care.

    Happy groundhog day!

  24. Tina= so much beauty, its intoxicating! (in a great way) Love it all, your collectibles are beautiful and fit perfectly in your magnificent home. I love the floors, the pantry, everything. Can you reveal where you got that beauitful hardware for the island? I am in love and am in the market for cabinet hardware but its all looking kind of the same. Please tell me the source if you don't mind. Looking good!

  25. Oh my goodness! I am swooning over your china, crystal and silver things! And when I saw those gorgeous crystal dolphin candlesticks my heart skipped a beat. Have been searching and searching for a pair for myself and so far have found NOTHING that is suitable! The WY cake plate and dome is incredible! What a GOOD GOOD friend!!! The house is coming along beautifully! Keep SHARING! We love it !

  26. Hi, Tina,

Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and the process that you have gone through to get to this point!! Really love seeing an email from you in my inbox with a new blog post!! I, too, love seeing all of your beautiful things and urge you to keep sharing!! That is why you have so many happy readers of your blog. It is fascinating and rare for many of us to get a glimpse into your lifestyle.

So sorry to see the Dayquils out and ready to be taken!! Hope you feel better soon. We have had such a mild winter and yet seem to be fighting all kinds of bugs here in Washington, DC. One cold after another. And, of course, no surprise that you are fighting germs with all you have going on.

Anyway, all the best to you as you continue to unpack and get settled.

  28. Oh my, now I know that my first remark shouldn't be about Teddy as your new home just is so unbelievably gorgeous but I have to say right up front that I love him! I have only been a follower for a short time and so though I knew that you also had a Golden, had never seen him. Look at that sweet sugar face. When I moved last July, my Ben was in such a state--I am glad that Teddy is having an easier time with the transition.

I can't wait to see more of your home. Their is so much that calls to me--those floors, the long hall, that staircase! The light! Rediscovering our treasures is the best part of moving, isn't it? I have been surprised how things that have been in hiding for sometime finally look "right" here.

    Hope that you feel better!

  30. Everything is so exquisite. That is the staircase of my dreams - I didn't know I had one but yes, that's it!
And do you know what the beauty of this house is? It looks as old as the grand houses around these parts, that's an incredible feat. I wish you health and happiness in your new home.

  32. Every one of my senses is in overload right now! I live for this stuff, are you kidding? Teddy is so cute and looks so happy in his new home and living in a room like that, he should:-)
The pantry and family room (the glimpses I got) are AH MAZ ING! And I have to tell you I found it very endearing that you have your wedding cake topper after all these years. Speaks a lot to the kind of person you are and why you are so well liked. That is very sweet.
Best of luck as you settle in and may you make the best memories in this exquisite manor. Been meaning to ask...does the house have a name? Will you name it? A home of this caliber absolutely needs a birthright!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I look forward to your posts about your house and all the lovely things you own. Your first Limoges china is similar to my "Old Abbey", except that mine has more pink roses on them. They were my in-laws'. I am glad I decided to take them at the last minute or the whole lot would have ended in an estate sale. We also got a ton of silver and several crystal glassware. The 5 boxes of brown transferware are still in storage. One day, I hope to be able to use and/or display them all.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh! I have the very same need for Limoges !
    But the staircase railing ..beautiful!
    Then the angel compote!
The windows in any of your rooms!

  38. Lovely little collection of silver and china. Enjoy using them! The silver "ice bucket" to which you refer is actually a repository for champagne. People often use the terms interchangeably -- Champagne bucket and ice bucket -- however an ice bucket, technically, is the silver container in the photo above the champagne bucket. Champagne (on ice) is placed in a champagne "pail" or bucket, whereas ice is kept in the ice bucket. Often people use ice buckets for champagne buckets when none of the latter are available, but, in your case, you have a beautiful example of both!
Hope you are feeling better soon!

  54. I am also obsessed with dishes. My collection includes vintage jadeite and azurite as well as antique Minton china made for either Tiffany's, Davis Collamore or Gillman Collamore. The last two were specialty stores in NYC from the early to the late 1800s. I also collect footed compotes, Hotel silver and antique sterling, etc., etc., etc. I don't mind in the least having a look at your pretties. Feel free to share anytime. The William Yoeward covered cake stand is quite a fabulous house gift.

I would love your secret to
keeping it all so well polished.
I have many pretty pieces, but
    the thought of polishing them
    before using them keeps most
of it in the cupboard, which is
really sad. I often wish that I'd
    registered for pewter instead
    of silver-plate, 25 short years
ago, but no one steered me in

    Many, many blessings for a

That incredible staircase, its breathtaking 3, your French chest, how I would love to find one like that and finally 4. the gorgeous wood floors! There are too many rooms to name a favorite but its a dead tie between
the kitchen, pantry, breakfast room and family room. Just breathtaking.
Hope you are continuing to pace yourself and enjoy the journey as you go along.

  78. My husband would have a heart attack if he saw all that stuff you have been keeping! All that china, glass, silver - and he thinks I have a lot of stuff! I'm dying to show him these pics so he can see how little I do have! It all looks wonderful and your family room looks so welcoming and cosy. Love it.

  79. Wow wow! You have such beautiful things! I'd love to come and spend a day just looking at all your beautiful silver pieces!

  80. Oh Tina what a lovely post. I admit I was naughty and checked my email at work and could not resist time drooling. First chance tonight to spend more time drooling. Teddy looks comfy settled into what is so far my favorite room even though I love it all. Love the butlers pantry too. Isn't fun to rediscover all those treasures packed away and get them settled into their new home. Hope your cold is better. Take care and thanks for sharing.

  82. Tina! I have not been away from blog land that long - but you have already managed to get the house up and running (looking great!), Teddy settled (and happy looking) and you have dived into a zillion boxes and lined up rows and rows of beautiful table top decor. I am very impressed! (I need to pop over and see what kind of water you are drinking...).

Warm hugs to you my friend and happy weekend.

  84. Tina,

Aw there's not place like "Home" great family room already a great place to melt into your new space.
Teddy that little cutie...and lovely smile as he poses for the camera. How fun for us to enjoy and share in as you unpack lots of beautiful memories and great pieces! Stairs look great and that would make a wonderful architechural picture with sunlight rays coming through the windows. Love all the furniture pieces and the handles in your closet on the island drawers really really nice.

Stay well and glad to read everything is unfolding and blossoming as we approach Spring.

  86. I love your antique Limoges but then you have such exquisite taste as all the pictures attest. Do you have a favourite or everyday china? Cant wait to see your gorgeous pieces all displayed in that beautiful butler's pantry. Glad to see you were able to do so much unpacking in such a short time.

  87. Teddy found his place in the sun, huh? He looks happy. That staircase is gorgeous!! What a work out going up and down those stairs! xo

  88. Looks like you have made some incredible unpacking progress! I love that view of the spiral staircase! Such a coincidence that you highlighted your Limoges China. My grandma is sending me an antique Limoges platter that she has been wanting to gift me for awhile, which is currently on it's way to my house!

  89. This is so much fun. I know you are busy but I hope you will show us more of that spectacular kitchen, prettiest I have seen and of the bathrooms! It is such fun seeing your house turn into a real home. I see your elegant and exquiste touches everywhere and I cannot wait to see more!
Teddy is so cute and looks so comfortable in his new home (wouldn't mind being Teddy myself)! Its traumatizing for dogs to have to get adjusted to a new home, so taking as many familiar things with them as possible is a great idea.
Thank you Tina for sharing. This was such fun!
