Who has the biggest, baddest, fluffiest, bed?

Anyone who knows me also knows of my obsession with my bed. They know of my quest to have the fluffiest, softest most "cloud like" bed known to mankind and by golly, I think I have achieved it! I LOVE a soft, cozy, fluffy, heavenly bed. I mean, seriously after a long hard day doing battle in the trenches of life, is there ANYTHING better than sinking into a deliciously soft bed? I don't think there is anything that even comes close! Lets face it...you spend nearly half of your life in bed!! What better investment to make than in a place where you spend anywhere from 6-10 hours a day in? First it must start with a good mattress, and that cannot be emphasized enough but then again I know all you savvy readers know this already so no need to belabor the point.

Then the bedding...aaahhh, the fun part! Get the softest highest thread count sheets you can afford. Ideally try to go for at least a 400 thread count.Today, they happen to be more affordable than ever....and are more readily available in more stores than ever not just very exclusive ones. Then the comforter, it must must must be down, super light, goose down. Remember, fill power is generally determined by the sleep temperature of your room, not the outside temperature of where you live. The fluffier the better! Pillows? Goose down all the way!!!!! At least for me there is no substitute. Like the comforters, most good companies also make different fills for the pillows, think of this as an investment in your sleep therefore in your life and well being. A goods sleep has such a HUGE impact on your day, as we all know. So today I bow down to the softest, fluffiest, baddest, biggest beds I could find.........and here they are! 1. I like a soft fluffy bed too, and since our dog sleeps on the bed, it is most important for us to have a washable duvet, in flax color, although I would prefer white!!

  2. Such beautiful bedrooms! My mom used to call me Princess and the Pea because I was so picky about my beds. Ashley Goforth really makes the most inviting beds! After having a baby, I appreciate my bed even more (probably since I spend so little time in it now, ha!) Great Post!

  3. I love all these fluffy beds. It does make me want to jump right back in! I am due for a new comforter...any suggestions. I like high quality like you and don't skimp when it comes to bedding. One is as pretty as the next though I favor the crisp whites no matter what color the room is its so just clean looking. Fantastic post that will be bookmarked for future use and eye candy.

  5. So glad to see you include (photo 12 from top) the work of Womack & Associates of Atlanta. That bedroom was in the 2008 Atlanta Symphony Designer Show House. Also those are a pair of Swank Lightings White Opaline Seguso Lamps by the bed.
Great post as always. Now I must go back to bed.

  6. Tina,

I think we have so much in common! It's amazing!

My bed is the best place in my house! :-) I love white sheet, 600 thread count. It should feel like a cloud! I agree with you. :-) Nothing worse than an uncomfortable bed. Save money, but buy a good one. Who doesn't deserve to have a good night of sleep? Right?

    Have a Happy Day!

  8. - yup back to bed I go..:-) You always have such an extensive gallery.. The green room is beautiful..

I am one of those people who can't tolerate an unmade bed. when I was a teen, i would make it before i went to bed.. Today, it has to be made first thing.. and I love layers.. Cover sheet, then matelasse coverlet, and then a light comforter.. I love my bed!

  10. So many beautiful choices. My bedroom is my favorite room in our house. And although I fought the concept forever, we now have an "air" mattress where we can adjust the different sides because my husband likes soft and I prefer firm - the best of both worlds.

  11. Tina,

Great topic sleep and what makes it sweet. I absolutely love to sleep and I prepare mentally to get the best from it be it a power snooze (20 min.), a nap (1 hour) or full night's incredible sleep (7-8 hours). My bed is equipped to handle the task easily with the pillows, sheets and mattress the best I can afford.

Additionally, turning the mattress every three months, laundering and rotating bedding (comforters, duvets, blankets flannel sheets cotton sheets etc.) adds to the ambience of sleeping on a cloud for me.

Given that we all define our ultimate bedrooms and sleep requirements differently
as you said it's getting easier to supply our homes with the best. Given all this I find that I can sleep anywhere.

  13. Tina We are definitely kindred spirits!!! I am so with you on a comfy bed, it is a must and it is a must for my guest. I have actually been told my bed is like sleeping in a cloud and you used the same expression!!! I do a little trick when making my bed. I put my extra pillows at the bottom of the bed with the duvet over them and it looks extra fluffy that way. I did a post on this very subject if you want to read it you can go here:

  15. Wow what a great post on such yummy beds!! Makes me want to do a bedroom makeover!! I love white on a bed with lots of cream and maybe some blue or green. I have a pale aqua now but would to change it to a softer green down the road. I got LOTS of great ideas here, so many beautiful favorites, especially those by Phoebe Howard and Ashley Goforth.

  16. OMG I love this post... it couldn't have come at a better time as I just bought a bunch of new bed linens at the Bella Notte sale over the weekend and have been in heaven sleeping on my new linen sheets! I'm going to do a post tomorrow on my "new bed".
Thanks for all the fabulous inspiration!!!

  17. Light goose down, perfect. Bunny Williams, feels as if you are outside & breezy. This is what I have to add. My family & I are 100% linen sheets only for various reasons, plus I am a LIBECO premium seller. For one reason, as a family we have used LIBECO for nearly 20 yrs(tried many always returned). Makes sense that was the very first item (brand) I chose for my little shop of my most favorite things) Plus we cant sleep well on anything else. No luxury simple necessity. Loved Cathy Kincaid bed but I am not an orange fan, so the bed would be just fine CANOPY with round about curtains, cozy!

  24. I am very picky about my bed. White sheets. Dust free environment. Curtains that can easily be taken down and washed. A down filled pillow top for the mattress. The very first photo is close to what I like. All were beautiful.

  25. Oh my, I do want to hop in bed now! I love white sheets and white duvets, to me it just looks inviting and super clean! This post makes me think of when I was pregnant with both of my children, my husband would joke with me and say that I was like a bird fluffing my nest! And, still I like my bed to feel like a soft escape from a busy life.

  34. First of all, looking at this at the end of the day when I want to crawl bed is so not fair. Waaaahhhh!

How can you not love the Bunny Williams? Or the Phoebe Howard? The elegance is only topped by the snuggle factor, and that is tough to pull off successfully. The Tracery is what really blew my skirt up! (So to speak.)

Thank you for more stunning inspiration!

  35. That first bedroom bed looks so yummy....it makes me want to go to sleep...yawn...goodnight! I think I should invest in down. I have a comfy comfy bed with a pillow top and it could get even fluffier!

  36. My friend Devon teases me about all the pillows I have on my bed (boys just don't get it..). Aside from their importance to my decor, they are also necessary to make my bed extra cushy and comfy!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love so many of your beautiful examples! I love the formal but soft, crisp white beds the most. This is how our bed has always been. Mattress was specially made firm from edge to edge. Always crisp white sheets 400 count or higher. My husband is a pillow monster so there are always lot's of them. For summer I do a white cotton RL coverlet and for winter the best fluffy down wrapped in a beautiful white duvet. White matelasse headboard and bed skirt and that's about it. Pretty simple but absolute heaven to crawl into every night! Our bed is high and our bedside tables are too but still reading light is not sufficient so I think we are going to install swing arm lamps on each side.
Your choices were excellent and your advice is great! Everyone deserves the best at the end of the day!
Thank you so much for your darling comment today. Looks like we just might be cousins!
