Can we talk? Hair products!

Good Thursday morning to you! Wow this week is flying..cannot believe Labor day is upon us, any big plans for your weekend?  First,  I just have to say I am have THE most amazing readers. Seriously.......I  was so moved as I read over each and ever one of the 91 (at last count)  comments on my " Why fall makes me sometimes cry" post and between that and the many emails, I was so comforted to know I am not alone.  If you didn't see it, hope you might take a look here. Thank you thank you thank you!

Life changes, and I do know that childhood doesn't last forever and there is plenty of happiness to be found and shared when our young kids begin the metamorphosis into young adults but it is not without some sadness (and a few tears)  and nostalgia that this happens particularly for someone who enjoyed the journey of motherhood as much as I did:) But yes, there are I am quite sure,  lots of happy times ahead and I cannot wait...bring it on:)

Moving along.....today lets talk hair! My hair has changed over the years and as summer turns to fall it changes yet again. But for the first time in my life, I have found a battalion of hair products that I can say I  am madly in love with and simply cannot live without. So much so that I need to share them with you! And of course part of the fun with these "Can we talk" posts is hearing what you have to say on the matter, so do not hold back...tell us all about your favorite hair products,  any tips or insider secrets to great hair. I think we can all agree, we are just a wee bit happier when our hair looks good!

Lets get started........

Left to right top row...

1. KMS flatout, great anti humidity spray that does not leave your hair heavy at all, once this goes on its ready for battle even on the most humid summer nights!

2. This product, the Kerastase mask,  first off smells sooo good, every time I use it I want to take a bite:) It is a very rich super nourishing leave on mask (I try to leave it on for a good 15 minutes), it leaves my hair super soft and smelling amazing, I use it about 1-2 times a month

3. Unite 7 seconds, one of the best products ever! I love this stuff, its a detangler and makes combing/brushing through my hair a breeze. I swear there some kind of magic potion in there, with amazing powers. I no longer dread having to comb through my wet hair after a shower, also fantastic for the beach.

4. Neutrogena triple moisture is my "every day" conditioner, I use it about every 2-3 days, a little goes a long way. I use about a dollop about the size of a half dollar  and work it into my hair. It is consistently rated as one of the best hair bargains out there and is under $10.00!

5. LOVE this shampoo, Clear scalp and hair therapy. It is literally the best one I have used period, on both on the high and low end. It smells great, works into a salon-esque lather and leaves my hair squeaky clean. I am a fan for life and this is now the only shampoo I buy.

6. This little brush saved my life :) The original wet brush is simply A M A Z I N G! OK, I am being a bit dramatic, but seriously I have ridiculously super sensitive scalp, I still cry when my hair is brushed too hard. This brush actually makes me want to brush my hair. I don't know if the bristles are magic or what..but this brush rocks! I have three to be sure I always have one on hand, used for wet and dry hair...its AMAZING!!!! Click here to buy it and be taken to their website.

The Clear shampoo and Neutrogena conditioner/mask can be purchased at any pharmacy. I get the Unite 7, Kerastase  and KMS on Amazon.

So there you go..those are my top 6 hair picks. I am a fan for life of these six amazing products...now its your turn? Your turn to spill the beans on what makes your hair happy:) Thanks as always for stopping in to see what's new and wishing you a fabulous day.

  1. Good morning beauty!

    Ahh....hair.

I have my own philosophy on my hair, and basically, I use whatever product that allows the natural shine to come through. I never dye my hair, I take pride in my slowly appearing grays (I AM SO EXCITED TO FINALLY HAVE LIGHT HAIR!!!!) and I love Pantene. It's the only shampoo that leaves my hair shiny without a greasy or dull feeling from the conditioners. So that's it....simple Anita for ya!

    Big hugs, Tina. Anita

  2. I can't wait to try some new to me products. KMS flatout sounds like a great spray. Our summer has been so humid in the South, and I so need to try something new. Thanks for the recommendation!!

  3. Tina- I love Clear shampoo and conditioner too. I have to get the wet brush and the 7 second product, my daughter has such a sensitive scalp and is always crying when I brush her hair, these sounds like mini miracles!

Also I am a fan of Pantene, especially the shampoo for color treated hair, its fantastic.

  4. My favorite shampoo and conditioner are both by Kerastase: Chroma Reflect shampoo and Bain Miroir conditioner. They are very pricey, so I buy them in the professional size and decant them. I have used them for years and they are well worth the effort. For hair spray, I use Aveda's Air Control because it is light and my hair is thin. Maybe I'll give your KMS a try. We certainly have enough humidity here in SW Florida.

  5. Hi Tina,

Thanks for sharing your products. I've gone "low maintenance" since my twins were born, but the one product I can't live without is the Aveda's Confixor. It is a liquid gel I apply on wet hair... It gives body and shine and help with the dreaded frizz...and it smells great...

  9. Humidity and North Central Florida with it's rainy afternoons in the summer.. well, I need help :-)
My hair went through a HUGE change this year. Due to treatments, it fell out! The new growth is curly, and I am ay a loss as how to style. I have sensitive scalp and an allergy to soaps :-/ So I ahve to use sulphate free shampoos and conditioners. Sooo... But I am going to try the KMS Flatout. I have never had to deal with frizzy hair before now.
    Thanks Tina!!

  10. Yes! The hair, like skin, changes and becomes less resilient and more coarse over time. I rotate my products and unfortunately am not loyal to any one particular line. Right now I'm using Kerastase and
the Davines line. I have hair that is below my shoulders (long for my age..) and it's VERY difficult to manage and to keep smooth looking. My grey hair is not the smooth sexy kind either. It's sort of like antenna that sticks out so I'm always battling that (Grumble, grumble) The rain in Seattle is a constant but it's not as humid as you'd think so I'm thankful for that because I CANNOT control my hair in the humidity!!

    Have fun today!

  11. Always get such good ideas here. I use the KMS product, can't live without it, for this Atlanta humidity it does the trick. I am going to try the shampoo, not liking what I use and MUST get that hairbrush! I also have a sensitive scalp. Can you please do one of these on eye treatments and creams. Need help with that too!

  12. Great recommendations! I am especially excited for the KMS Flatout. I have wavy, frizzy hair. It has given me so much grief! I like to wear my hair straight. I feel that I look my best that way, but it has been difficult. I seldom can achieve that silky, smooth look and keep it. Well, now that I am in Utah, and the air is much drier, it has become more controllable, however, when I travel back to California, I am right back in the same frizz boat!! So thanks for the recommendations. I am going to try it out and all of the other products as well.

  13. Tina, the clear shampoo just got voted on by Allure magazine as one of the best, not sure if you saw that so I went and bought it and just love it! I am sold too.

I love Fekkai anti frizz cream, it keeps my wavy hair manageable during the hot and humid months. And he makes a moisture mask which is really good too, very rich and I use it about once a month. Good regular trims are also very important to healthy looking hair!

    Off to buy that brush.

    1. Thanks for the tip on the Fekkai anti-frizz cream: nothing I've tried ever worked. And Florida is the PERFECT testing ground!

  14. Own that brush, bought it at Sephora and agree, it makes hair brushing wet or dry a breeze. Thank you for your hair product recommendations, anything you have suggested that I have bought I have loved so I am going to be trying some of these :-)

  15. Hi Tina...Always love your recommendations with one qualification. I agree that Aveda's Confixor is an excellent products as someone mentioned. I also highly recommend Nioxin Cleanser and their Scalp therapy conditioner. Great smell and they really work. You had posted several weeks ago about Neutrogena hair Mask and since I like Neutrogena products I bought and tried it. During Texas summers my hair can get very dry if I am not careful. But the mask made it so dry and my stylist asked me what I had done to my hair on the last visit. When I told her she said - throw it away - their other products may be good but not that one. I got my Nioxin 1 out and my hair is back to its lovely self with no dryness (I mix a bit of Redkin on the ends too. Thanks for your tips......

  16. This is a high quality canvas print of a photograph or original art piece. In some cases these pieces are touched up by the artist so well, that you can hardly tell the difference between the original and the print. However, giclee’s have one particular advantage over other types of art work. They are prints that look original and come at very affordable prices.

  17. Yay! Tina!! You know how much I love product post, you and I share a love for all things girly and fun when it comes to products. Now for hair, I have fine hair, tends to be dry. Living in Calif. I don't have a humidity problem, but having fine hair I do have a volume problem. My hair goes flat, and I do mean flat.

I am such a stickler about using anything that changes the shine or silky feel of my hair. I am trying a new shampoo, that actually did give me more body and did not change the shine or feel of my hair. It is called L'Anza, so far I am impressed. After the first shampooing I did not see a difference, but the second shampooing I saw a big difference.

I use a leave in conditioner by Joico, have used it for years. It is light does not change my hair except for making it easy to comb out after washing.

Hairspray, I use Alterna Caviar, anti-aging hairspray. I love it, not heavy leaves my hair shiny and smells divine, expensive, but I won't buy any other.

I do wear my hair smooth in a long bob. I have to have shiny bouncy hair and these product seem to do that for me. Oh I forgot, I do use a masque 2 times a month, Moroccan oil hair masque another tried and true product for my hair.

  18. With a family of 4 girls....we go through A LOT of hair products. Pantene and Neutrogena are both good and reasonable. The Unite 7 seconds I have read and heard about a lot, think I need to try it and the brushes are a must buy. I am going to go check them out now. Always enjoy these fun beauty posts!

  19. Hi Tina,

I SWEAR by the original Sebastian Shaper Hairspray. I've been a devotee since 1984! It gives my fine hair that "just right" amount of hold and it smells good. This is probably the only product that I have become addicted to. I love trying out new things, but Sebastian Shaper is non-negotiable for me.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend,
    Melissa

  20. Tina these are such fun. I love products and make weekly stops to try new things. I used to work for Lucky magazine in NY and the biggest perk was all the products. I love Unite 7 too and have used it for a few years. I also like Moroccan Hair products but find the mask too heavy for my thin hair. Going to try the Clear shampoo, it always gets high marks. I think a good trim off the ends is a great idea and my grandmother swears by olive oil treatments once a month that she does herself for shine.

  22. Thank you for sharing these. I love trying new hair products. The ones I am using now are from Aveda for thinning hair. It works wonders, but does not grow hair. Menoxidil does that. I will see if the Clear Shampoo can be purchased in Canada.

  29. Right now I am using Aveda hair products and like them very much. (I am 61 with long hair turning white--highlights to blend with the white). The shampoo I am using is called Dry Remedy. The Aveda conditioner has the same name. The leave-in Aveda conditioner is called Damage Remedy. I love all three. In addition, I've stopped blowing my hair dry (except occasionally) with good results.

On a humorous note, I was in a elevator in a medical building a couple of days ago and a man told me that I have great hair. I thanked him. I guess I must be doing something right with my hair!

  30. Good morning Tina! Thanks for the product recommendations - I also use several of the products (including the Clear shampoo and Unite detangler based on one of your previous posts). Kerastase has always been a favorite but it is so darn expensive. I need to check out the brushes though - I am not familiar with them. Any recommendations for a pony tail holders? (my usual way of dealing with unruly hair!)

  31. With very thick and dry hair, I am a fan of Moroccan oil products, especially the make. I am going to buy that brush and try the KMS, Sounds like a must have for me!

  32. With fine hair and well water, Clear did not work for me. Bumble and bumble thickening shampoo continues to be the only thing that works unfortunately. Clear left my hair frizzy and weighted down. FYI to any who may have a similar combination and be thinking of trying this. :(

  34. Generally around the age of forty the hair gets thinner and falling of hair is common by using any branded shampoo for thinning hair will be the best option for thicken and strengthen the hair.
