A serious blue and white pillow quandry!

Good morning! Oh my gosh.....it is feast or famine. When it comes to blue and white anything......there really can be too much of a good thing! In trying to add some finishing details to my covered porch......I couldn't find any pillows I loved, now I have found over a dozen and cannot make up my mind....HELP!  I have never admittedly spent much time on Etsy so never really "got" it. Oh boy once I started looking for blue and white pillows however, it won me over. And won me over fast. I have been looking for about a month now for the perfect set of blue/white pillows and found a few I liked but not loved, at Frontgate but just could not justify spending $150 on a simple cotton pillow (not to mention I need a lot of them).

So by chance I stumbled onto Etsy and I was floored by the selection and the prices!  My only quandary now is narrowing it down..I want them all!! Which do you love the most? I always love to know your thoughts. I will be mixing and matching 2 or 3 different patterns and will have squares and lumbars. Here we go.......

Now here is where these bad boys are going...I want pillows on everything!

Just ordered  two garden seats for either side.....

Now do a visual with the pillows........

(if you want to refer to any of these just say row A, B,C,etc......)

And then there were even more (some are repeated).......

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6. I really like these three 6,7 and 8  a lot also....
7.

8.

9.

10. Love 10 and 11, one of the first I found that I loved!

11. I do  love this one too....
12.

13. These three were originally what I was going for.......
14.
15.

16. I like the colors and how fresh this feels....

17. Thought this was pretty and elegant too

18.

19. I like the idea of using a trellis pillow with a pattern

20. I like this a lot too
21.
22.

And just when I thought I  couldn't take another batch of blue and white temptation to confuse me even more,  today I found these..........and I really like these too!

I have seriously not been this confused in a long long time.Normally I see something I want/love and just go for it. There are so many combinations here I am loving...... I seriously want them all!! On top of that I need to make a quick decision, we have a Fathers day party happening and I would really like to have the loggia almost done (or at least as much as possible).

Could I change out the pillows monthly? Just kidding kind of. So many beauties!! Help...need your input!  What's exciting you here?

  1. Ugh! What a lot of great options! My favorites are 5, 8, 14, 19 but you have a tough decision ;)

  2. Tina! I can see why you are confused, haven't seen this many pretty pillows in one place ever! From the top graph of pictures,I love the 2nd and 4th row. I also love the last batch (bottom) of pillows you found. Honestly you could close your eyes and pick them and they would look beautiful, they are all winners. Good luck, can't wait to see what you pick.

  3. Just get one of each :). I love too many to decide. Good luck.

  4. I have to say 6, 7 and 8 too, Tina! They are all gorgeous, but yes, it is SO HARD when there are so many wonderful patterns! AND I LOVE that you are extending your blue love out to the veranda! This is going to be exciting to watch! Anita

  5. I am confused too and cannot be of much help. Too many beautiful choices, would stay away from ones with pure white in them since the furniture looks to be more creamy white.

I know whatever you do is going to be gorgeous.

  6. Yikes, what a lot of choice.

I like 6,7,8 or 10, 11, 12. I can't wait to see what you choose, I'm sure it will look spectacular.

  7. OMG.....I am with you...love them all but do love the last 4 maybe the best....they have your look! Etsy pillows are the best deal going and being a pillow addict....it feeds my addiction!!!

  8. Wow Tina, you weren't kidding! I can honestly say that you have a great selection and I know you will choose a collection that looks fabulous. Etsy is addictive and has some amazing items! Hope all is well with you--lunch in late June early July???

  9. Hello Tina, I see two distinct pattern groups. Why not stick with one or the other. But then they are all beutiful. Isn't it amazing what you can find on Etsy. What I like most about Etsy is that everything has to be hand made or vintage to qualify to be listed. As a seller on Etsy, I am so pleased with the way this site is run...easy for the buyer and easy for the seller. Gina

  10. I, too, love blue and white. I would say you should buy three kinds of pillows : just plain blue, a floral pattern in blue and white, and a graphic pattern in blue and white. Those matches are always a winner.

  11. Hi Tina, wow so many beautiful pillows to choose! I am liking 13,14,8,B3,c3, ugh, I think....
How do you choose? Definitly work in a stripe, busy and simple...

  12. Wow! They're gorgeous, Tina! I am a fanatic for PILLOWS & RUGS!!! I keep changing them around my house. I love how they can change everything... :-)

Wishing you a wonderful Tuesday, sweetie and thank you for your lovely comment yesterday. I saw that house and I actually thought about you... I knew you'd like the interiors. :-)

    Big hugs to you!

  13. I would put more than one pattern layering the look. A solid pillow with strong colour like 9, and layer with it 11 and/or 13. The pattern on the ikat mimics in a more subtle way the solid pattern of number 9.
With so much traditional blue and white adding something a bit different will break the look a bit and ensure that it all doesn't just blend.

Mix some square cushions with smaller 'back' pillows {I find those the most used on because they fit right in the curve of your back}.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I love the paisley blue, white and camel...and the suzani blue/white/camel at the beginning of the post. I have seating quite similar to this in my backyard and cast iron furniture with off-white cushions in our cabana. All of my pieces have pillows on them. But the ones I like the most are the rectangular lumbar type because they stay on the furniture so much better. Once you put cushions on this furniture, the size of the cushions take up a lot of the seat area, giving you not much more room for a pillow, especially the square ones. The wind blows them off, or they just don't stay neat looking. The rectangular pillows are lower on the back cushions, look better and stay better. I wish I had gotten all in this shape.

  15. Look at the posting on My Design Chic today - she has layered the cushions with pattern and size.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'd say #22 with the tan in it to complement the wood tones and if you mix patterns, put it with the most solid blue with the white graphic (quatrefoil?)

  17. Hi Tina,
I agree with Gina, there are two distinct styles here. Personally (since you are asking), I see the classic style in your home as opposed to the IKAT style which I find quite contemporary.
But pick what you love, that is always my motto! Then you are happy wherever you look :-)

  18. I love the second from the bottom. I'm not sure what the flower is in the pattern, but it mimicks the hydrangeas somewhat. Before seeing that, row B was my choice because I liked the pillows with more of the natural color in it I would love to have the seats you ordered next to pillows. That would really help. It is already a gorgeous room, but will look even better. When guest come, what do they do with the pillows before they sit ? I have that dilemma sometimes inside ??!! I too am hooked on Etsy. It is amazing what you can find on there.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Tina, I would go with the middle photos on rows B,C,D. love the crispness of them, and the tie in with the blue and white garden stools. I'm sure whatever you choose it will look fabulous

    ReplyDelete
  20. This is fun and easy! I know exactly what I like. Now listen to me. : - ))) H and N in the first group. They are the classics.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 1,3,5,6,11,13 and 19 and absolutely the last group minus the very last one! I'm sure the area will be breathtaking and comfortable. Also, I agree that the lumbar size pillows are most practical but a mix is more interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I love all of them.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Definitely hard to choose. But I'd have to say I love the last set the best. Love all three of the patterns. Or you could change out the last pattern for a trellis design that would still work with other two.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh goodness Tina! I'm running out to work and will have to come back!! #2,5,8 .. they are all gorgeous and Etsy? I need to visit more often! Enjoy your day!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Yikes. I think changing the pillows monthly- or maybe weekly - may be the best choice. I can see why you are so confused! If you must be more practical than that I would say 6,7,8, but serious I think you could pick any three blindfolded and come up with winners. Good luck and let us know what you pick!! XOXO

  26. Wow! You were not exaggerating when you said feast or famine! There are so many beautiful choices. My favorites are all of the pillows in row D and E!

I think whichever of these beautiful pillows you chose the loggia is going to look fabulous!

    Have a great day Tina!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Too many pretty choices- love them all and trust your superb taste, I do think the last batch works well with your style too. I can't wait

  28. They are all beautiful! You could literally close your eyes and point and have the most gorgeous pillows. :-)

  30. Holy cow, you found more blue & white pillows than I ever knew existed!! The paisley could be my favorites, although some of the geometrics were awfully elegant as well. Love just about each & every one!

    Sending you a smile,

  31. I love all of them. Are any of them Sunbrella??? We have dark green wicker and cushiond and would love blue and white, but live in AZ.

    ReplyDelete
  32. We love them all! Why not pick a couple of patterns and mix them all up? You can't go wrong with blue & white! Your porch looks like the perfect place to spend a day like today.

  33. Dear Tina,
Please forgive me for not commenting since a while!! I am so very busy and don't find the time to comment my friends' blogposts! This time of the year is the most busy period for me! I do hope to slow down a bit in the month of July!

All your pillows look gorgeous! I couldn't choose! I love them all!

  34. To my eye pillow #16 repeats not only the colors but also the motifs from the garden seat. If you want 2 different designs, #21 seems to be the same casual style. As much as I love the paisley, I think these are perfect for the porch. Jo @ Let's Face the Music

  35. So many beautiful pillows! My mind is racing- I never knew etsy had such choices!

I love the med blues and the ikats are lovely mixed with trellis patterns, also like the last grouping- love them!

Mind if I ask thr source of the pretty garden seat?

  38. OK sorry no way could I narrow it down (so glad I do not have to make the decision)! But I love the pillows in row, B, D and E. I also love 10 and 11 and the last batch though I would love to see a pillow with more white and blue trim if you go that route. They are all so beautiful and I have to say you found the best of the best on Etsy. You have given me a new reason to go back!

I do like ikat in general but feel its too trendy for your grand and very traditional home. It could look dated very soon, I say go with the more traditional classic styles, that's my 3 cents. I have no doubt you will pick the perfect pillows!

    ReplyDelete
  39. also love 6, 7, 8 OR 6, 8, 17's. Each trio has one that has a hint of the warm brown tone for your furniture but look fresh and summery with the blue/wh/off white. The Ikat is trendy but I never tire of classic paisleys! The porch is fabulous! Our screen house gets so much wind - every year I have to fix screens from a chair blowing over and through or a tree branch. But it continues to be worth the trouble. Just wish summers in southern Minnesota were longer. Really enjoy your site!

  40. Well I thought this was going to be somewhat easy just from the first grouping but then there were more pillows with wonderful designs. Go with the first heavy dark blue then a few softer ones to round it out and that's all I'm putting into this. To many choices Tina!

  41. Order all of them and send back the ones you don't want! Also, there are beautiful outdoor trims available that could be added to finish them off! :)

  42. I would love all of them.. For me it would be 10 & 11 for some reason they stand out in a soft way. I am sure you are going to make the perfect choice. Regards Esther from Sydney. PS thank you for the retail therapy.

  43. Hi!
I would combine 5 and 9. I like paisley pillows but somehow they don't blend well with your china.

  44. OMG - you think you're confused! I'm having a blue and white meltdown from overdosing on gorgeous images of cushions and having a panic attack about how you're possibly going to decide! They are all fabulous. I have three of them which I bought on Etsy. 1 and 3 and the last greek key one. I do love the florals though, and I think the suzani style one in row B far left is very pretty. I don't envy you - hard choice!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love Etsy and can always find exactly what I am looking for, no matter how obscure! I would suggest a geometric to compliment the floral and chinoiserie patterns of your blue and white jars. What a lovely porch!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh Tina! The pressure! They're all so pretty and I can see why you are having such a difficult time choices 2-3 patterns. I do love row d and 6,7,8. But I really can be honest in saying that any of these pillows will look gorgeous in your loggia. Can't wait to see what you pick! XO

  47. Hi Tina... All lovely pillows....my faves are the ones with a touch of tan to tie in you dark wicker and wood ceiling. Thanks for the reminder to check out etsy for pillows!

    Take care...xoxo

  48. Love the blue with the beige.. very warm/inviting as well as the last bold blue and white batch that is shown! It would be nice to buy them all and rotate each selection by month or season :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. i am partial to 17 & 22.
i think they will work well with
what you have done with your home.
    and besides.
that pattern is what i used in my showroom
    in a different colorway.

  50. I would pick a feeling I get when looking at each one, NOT the potential in them. So Chinoiserie IF in your house is your favorite type of accessory, then bring it out to the patio to coordinate the house mood.

I think some that have different blues in them so they are not matchy-matchy. Do not get some with white in them as a background IF you do not wish to bring more white out there.

Get the idea? LOVE them all and the are all exquisite, I can see why your choice is HARD!
They all would be perfect in ANY setting! I am getting into Blue and White for the first time in my home we recently moved into. So, I can relate to your overwhelming selections out there for Blue and White!

  52. I think I like Rows A and B best, although they are all lovely. Just to make it more confusing, I think I would use the third pillow in Row A to replace the middle pillow in row B and then use row B. I do know that whatever you choose will be gorgeous, and I'm glad you found etsy – I buy pillows there all the time!

  53. You can't go wrong anywhere here, Tina! Row D appeals to me the most, I believe. Are any of them outdoor fabrics? That's what would sway me.

  55. Okay, Tina I like A3, B1, and a stripe with them. I don't think you need a solid myself.
For the loggia I think going a bit more bold/ as opposed to flowery and feminine might be better.

  56. Wow there are so many beautiful pillows here I would be hard pressed to narrow it down to 8 much less 3! I do like the idea of patterns and then adding a Greek key or chevron type print. I think you can make the outside more fun and less formal than the interior, so I think adding something like an ikat or fun print like that would be great looking. I prefer the darker blues with the garden seat you ordered but honestly Tina, these are all so beautiful. I just pinned a ton including the board with all the options. Best collection of blue and white pillows I have seen yet.

    Isn't Etsy the best!

I would go with A3 as a base mixed with D3 and then some more colorful lumber pillow or stripey! But you know what you are doing!

I have not been able to comment for about week (I have been using a loaner computer while mine was being repaired). I could see all comments but the comment box was missing! Perhaps an older OS version? Anyway, if you still have the antlers/silver salad set then I'll take it!
