Designer spotlight: Scott Snyder

Hi there, can't believe it's already Wednesday! How is your week going? I am a little under the weather, and fighting either a virus or bad allergies, allergies are bad around here. Today's post is one that warrants taking a little "break" from whatever you are doing. Trust me on this :) The first time I spotted a room done by Scott Snyder, I knew we were meant to be friends (at least virtually for now). Well, he just doesn't know it yet:) This is one talented man, I cannot tell you how many times I have been mesmerized by a room and sure enough when I look for the designers name..there it is, Scott once again!

Based in NYC and Palm Beach and established in 1984, his work takes him literally all over the globe, it is no surprise given his limitless talent, he travels the world in pursuit of creating incredible one of a kind interiors. Those kinds of rooms that hold your eye for a long time just so you can take in each delicious detail. So today I pay homage to the brilliant work of Scott Snyder. Ready? Feast your eyes on this.....

Forewarning! This post has the potential to induce serious heart palpitations, pace yourself people!

Still breathing....deep breaths, deep breaths, drool read on.........

Amazing, don't you think? What do you think of Scott's work? I think he has enough talent for an entire small planet. He just "gets it" and I love that he obviously has a real love for chinoiserie, blue and white porcelain and Asian art. Then you throw in his clear love of flowers specifically orchids, love for blue and ample use of  velvet...and we are kindred spirits indeed!

It is to surprise at all that he was named one of Architectural Digest's top 100 designers. Scott, you are incredible at what you do and this was a true visual feast for every one of my senses. Guess what! Scott, as I just discovered, has a blog...click here to visit him.   Hope you enjoyed this and thanks as always for stopping in!

  1. Wow! Thank you for the introduction. This is one fabulous post! I love his work. The chinoiserie powder room is over-the-top perfection, and I could jump in that lap pool right now.
I love his use of neutral with pops of unexpected color.
    Happy Wednesday.

  2. We're on the other side of the coast but allergies are especially bad this year here too. My house is coated in yellow pollen and I'll have to have to have it power washed off shortly because it's making me feel sick all the time. I definitely sympathize.

Love the photos! The black chinoiserie powder room was particularly amazing.

  3. What sensational work. I was drooling over every picture, the ivory and blue bedroom caught my eye as did the gorgeous pine paneled rooms with the earthy tones (similar to my colors). He is definitely a very talented designer. Wish he could come work his magic in my house!

  8. Tina, Really love all of these spaces. I was not familiar with his work so thanks for the intro. Hope you get to feeling better soon! I always look at allergies as the price we pay for all the flowers mother nature gives us. -Tonya

  10. He and his staff are amazing...when I was working for Scalamandre, I called on them in their Palm Beach office...what an office. Beautiful Fortuny soft blue green drapes, linens and antiques and framed architectural drawings that were water colored...it was so fun.

  14. Good afternoon there Tina! Well, first of all, it is snowing here AT THIS MOMENT so seeing your post is picking me up, giving me hope that there IS spring in the air, somewhere in this country!

OK, these rooms. Good heavens, that marble bathroom, that white and aqua kitchen with the blue Grecian-style floor and that room with the arched ceiling and beams? You really know how to sprinkle in something for everybody.

    Be well, wonderful Tina! Anita

I have profiled him a couple of times as well (love that Palm Beach Chic!) but there are several new images here that I have not seen before. I hope you get to feeling better! If this eye candy doesn’t help speed your recovery, I don’t know what will! :)

  26. Beautifully designed rooms. How refreshing to see not one single chevron patterned rug, chalk painted furniture or antique buffet turned into something new with a coat of paint or any other "trend" that seems to be taking over many designers rooms these days. Love them all!

  31. I learned of Scott Snyder's work last year when one of the designers on his staff commissioned eight prints from me for a bedroom. If that excitement weren't enough, they were using one of my favorite Jim Thompson fabrics in the room! His work is so elegant. Everything is just beyond lovely. I hope you're feeling better, Tina! So sorry to hear you aren't well!
