Early week musings, a giveaway and a guest post!

Forewarning...this is one of those looooong posts. I just kept adding on, and since I didn't do a musings/update post for a few weeks, there's lots to talk about! So just sit back, put those feet up, pour yourself another cup of coffee and relax.........

Hi there. How is your week going? Hope well! Things are good here, it's so great to finally feel that spring is in the air though they are talking about another cold snap...say it isn't so! It's not stopping me from tackling my spring cleaning list, which is quite long but not impossible!! Organizing is a big to do for me, as some things never really got put in their proper place from unpacking just a little over a year ago. Today is house heavy, some new things that have been done. Small things but just a few more things to check off my list!! A great giveaway too....all details at the bottom.

Also, one very exciting thing  that I am going to be a part of is that super chic Desiree over at Chic Coastal Living has asked me to be a contributor to her blog, I will be a "regular" over there for the next four months.  Chic Coastal Living is a wonderful blog all about well......chic living on the coast and Desiree covers this to perfection! I will be posting over there once a month, I am honored and am excited to be doing this and I hope you will visit me there TODAY. and check out my post on spring entertaining........ Click here!

Inspiration. I find it in so many places, its almost intoxicating sometimes. Doesn't stop me from pursuing beautiful images though:) I love to keep the really special ones in my online album to refer back to. Here are a few I am loving lately.....

Makes me want to throw an elegant outdoor shindig...this isn't over the top but is it every beautiful!
Love everything about this....need to get some big boxwood orbs pronto!

Carolyn Roehm does it again!

Can you believe this Mt. Vernon inspired playhouse? I want to live there! Allan Greenberg architect.

Are you a horse lover? I got an email from a wonderful new blogger, Charisse who started a new blog, Whimsical Home and Gardens,  and knew of my love for horses (and beautiful real estate)! and sent me a link to her post. The post is so beautiful, makes me want to pack up and move to horse country! Click here to visit her and welcome a new blogger (we all know what its like when we get started) feels so great to hear from others. A few pics as a teaser........

STATIONERY. You know by now I loooooove it, amazing I have not gone into that business. I am always excited to discover a new line. Atelier Austin Press is a new find for me. Their simple, elegant line is just stunning!  Click here to visit them. Letterpress gets me every time and love the detailing of the scalloped envelope. Check this beautiful line out.....

HOUSE UPDATES. Finally got the chandeliers up in the family room! You have no idea just what a herculean "all day affair" this was!!  It was a nail biting experience at times, seeing two of the electricians 24 feet in the air on a tiny hydraulic lift! And they were ready to ring my neck after I asked them to lower it, the raise it oh only about five times!!!!!! In the end though, its done and I am madly in love, they coordinate with my sconces and I think they are perfect for the room!

And after a full day.........the finished result!

Also hung up this small chandelier/lantern in the vestibule off the main hallway between the powder room and coat closet. Also fiddled around in my powder room. You know me and my flowers....and the way I love tweaking my bathroom vanities!

And in my powder room......

Love the signature Williamsburg line of handsoap and lotion...smells heavenly and you know I love that Pagoda packaging!

Also bought this beautiful sterling silver shell dish....perfect for my monogrammed soap bar
This paperwhite potpourri from Pottery Barn is not only gorgeous but smells heavenly!

I, also in my travels went antiquing and was soooo excited to have found a beautiful antique shop that carried some really exquisite silver pieces. I had been looking for a very special antique tea set and was beyond excited when I found this amazing set by Sheffield of England, this gorgeous bowl and this beautiful crested monogrammed box. All keepers that are right at home.....

And am in love with this magnificent bowl!

Finally got around to organizing my costume "jewelry drawer" This is half of it.....but I love that everything has a little place. I found these nifty organizers at BJ's wholesale club, the entire set was under 20.00 and it took my drawer from looking like a disaster zone to looking neat and organized, I love when everything has a place!! One thing down, twenty to go!

ONLINE SHOP

And one really really exciting new addition (within the next week) is this truly fabulous line, by far the prettiest I have ever seen of this melamine/outdoor dinnerware. They look so real, just like Italian pottery...have a nice weight to them and beyond being totally gorgeous they are dishwasher friendly!I am truly in love and so excited about carrying this line! Look at the stunning patterns......

Gorgeous huh? I am excited about carrying them and think they are going to be a big hit! Thanks as always for stopping in, wishing everyone a fabulous day.

  2. Where on earth do I begin? So much to comment on!
    1. LOVE the silver, that tea set is amazing. Your family room? out of this world, are you able to share who makes the fixtures? I love them. Love also how you dressed up your bathroom vanity. I am taking notes!
    2. Am in love with the new outdoor dinnerware, what beautiful patterns, cannot believe its plastic! I will be looking for that I hope soon.
    3. That Mt. Vernon playhouse is amazing, what lucky kids! My kids might not ever come out.

Always love your tidbits and the stationary is beautiful. I love letter pressed too just wish it wasn't so expensive! I splurged for a big 50th birthday for my husband last year and couldnt' bring myself to throw away the invitation :-) It could almost double as a coaster its so thick!

Love the Angelas' Garden line and happy to know of it, love the pink gloves and matching knee pads and apron, maybe having some cool new gardenware would help me garden more successfully.
Thanks for a wonderful post Tina.

  3. First, the chandy installation! They are totally divine. I love how the arms of the fixtures you selected repeat the beam work shape. Just lovely. Also, I cringe a bit to see that lift on your rug! I've not had a good experience with that in a past installation. They got grease on my clients brand new rug! So, glad that did not happen to your Oushak! As for the giveaway, such a fun one! I love the performance gloves in green. It's hot here to the mesh works best. Gardening is one of my escapes - I forget about everything, even at times, a child who needs to be picked up from a practice! Yikes! M.

  4. Good morning Tina!

I love you new chandeliers! They look fabulous. And the stationary...I too am a huge fan and will be hearing over there to add a few boxes to my collection. Afterlife, one can never have enough.

Thanks for the new blogg tip, sounds like one thing I would enjoy, will head over after leaving here.

Having just traveled to Dc, and parts of VA that Mt.Vernon playhouse spoke to me, can you imagine the adventures in that house.

  5. Wow..lots of beauty to start my week. You know how we love a statement chandelier and you certainly nailed it with this one - it's fabulous, Tina- makes the whole room!! The melamine is amazing - so fun and perfect for beach house dining...maybe one day I'll need this?! Your silver service is GORGEOUS. We are lucky enough to have inherited an 1838 silver service from my in laws and each piece was engraved with the date and person that presented it to my husband's great grandparents as a wedding gift. It's one of my favorite things in my whole house...Happy Monday!!

  6. I love the green willow gloves! Fun giveaway - it's finally warming up in my part of the states and I can't wait to go digging in my gardens!

  7. So much gorgeousness in this post! I like the powder room updates and that chandelier is amazing! I, too, am partial to letterpress. My letterpress (wedding) save the dates should arrive this week. Can't wait! Thanks for hosting the giveaway. I love the classic gardening gloves. As an avid gardener, they are probably my most essential piece of "equipment".

  8. I always enjoy the updates on your home. It is just exquisite! The product I love most is the gloves, but the hats and aprons are terrific!

  9. TINA, TINA, TINA!

I am super excited about this post. First of all, that second photo with the boxwood orbs? YOU CAN GET THAT LOOK, I KNOW IT! Off of your sunroom or anywhere off of your home, you can do this! THEN....I did not know that YOU TOO had a "love jones" for horses! I WANT ONE but yeah right....I live in Minneapolis! I just want to go visit one at least!

YOUR CHANDY! I had forgotten about this magnificent room and it looks like the old meetings places at the universities in England! You are having fun my friend! THEN THERE IS YOUR SHEFFIELD TEA SET! Just about three months ago, I came upon a Sheffield set myself. I was watching too much Downton Abby and got inspired, and there was my set, waiting for me at an antique shop!

Enjoy this sunny and gorgeous day my dear. Anita

  12. Hi Tina ~

Those chandeliers make the room - so fab!

Thanks for sharing the stationary find. It looks great and I was just thinking of giving stationery as birthday gifts to my cousins this year.

Glad you're enjoying the spring weather we're having finally - I'm off to Paris today and it's supposed to snow there on Friday!? but I'm not complaining...I can't wait to get on the plane tonight!

  15. Hi Tina. I love that you found more antiques on your travels, they are lovely. I LOVE the Denim hat and matching gloves from Angela's Garden, as well as the Classic Glove in Indigo - love the floral trim along the bottom.

I am really looking forward to ordering some of your new items: particularly the melamine outdoor dinnerware (GORGEOUS), and of course, the Cherry Blossoms. Enjoy the day!

  16. I love the chandelier Tina.. gorgeous, and the tea set is perfect for a ladies luncheon (may I come?!) The gardening them is lots of fun. The colors on the dishes are perfect for the (pending) summer:) Thanks for the intro to the new blogger. I popped over and will follow.

I'm finally back and looking forward to my schedule calming down. Hope all is well!

  18. Tina, that room is specatcular!! I am in love with your new lighting. What a beautiful, huge yet somehow cozy room! Love it. And your powder room is a dream.

My mother collects antique silver and is actually very active in the antiques world. She had a career at Sothebys way before all of the changes took place. That silver set is just amazing, you have a great eye! You should it appraised (if you haven't already) and the bowl is also a beauty.

The new melamine outdoor dinnerware is fabulous. I could see using that for many of my outdoor dinners, we live on the water so do lots of dinners in the warmer months. I look foward to seeing it in your online shop.

Thanks for sharing. Would love to win the great gardening set, I would choose the green.

  19. Tina, the new melamine is FAB!! What a wonderful selection--can't wait to see them in your store.
Angela's Garden is wonderful--I just received one of their gardening aprons as a gift from a friend and the quality is excellent.
I am waiting for spring fever to hit so I can order the gauntlet gradening gloves--perfect for pruning roses.

  20. No post that includes images of your beautiful home could be too long. Love the new chandy, it's absolutely made for that room.

  21. Whoa, the chandeliers and sconces are TO DIE FOR! Great choice. That room is just incredible. Going to be pinning away ;-) Love all the touches in your bathroom too. Love the outdoor plates and blossoms and tole, what can I say I love it all.

Love how you share you generously, your blog is my guilty pleasure every morning, and a perfect way to start my day (and day dreaming). Have a good one Tina!!

PS Would love to be entered into the gardening giveaway. Just about to start plans on my new vege garden, so these two items would really come in handy!

  22. Wow Tina, I love the chandeliers! After visiting Angela's Garden, I really think I need one of the hats. And although this is unsolicited, I must tell you that about four years ago, my sweet daughter in law gave me the acrylic beverage pitcher. After considerable use during the warmer months, it looks just a pretty as the day I received it! If it should stain after repeated ice tea uses, simply wash with a watered down bleach solution and it will look brand new. Great product line! Hope you do we'll with it.

  30. OK - wow... so much!
The new light fixtures look incredible. Shame on the electricians for putting the skylift on your beautiful carpet without covering it and the area coming into the house. Boys, boys - this not an IKEA carpet!
The images with the blossoms on the side board with the silver and crystal sparkling - so divine.
Atelier Austin Press has beautiful pieces that I need and want. And speaking of wants - those outdoor plates are perfect. Finally, something pretty and elegant for the patio dinner table.

I am ordering the blossoms. You have convinced me I must have them :-)
I love to garden and could use new gloves desperately, even if I don't win, I will buy them, they look so soft and beautiful. Happy to know about Angelas Garden. Thanks for the chance to win and for giving me such enjoyment through your beautiful blog.

  37. WE've been away for Easter and I'm just catching up. But I need another mini break to catch my breath after that amazing post! OMG! I am still reeling from those stunning light fittings - they absolutely make the room, and are so perfect for the space in every way. What a clever choice. The rest of your house is so beautiful, every time I look at it I think it can't get any better but then every time you show photos it does. Just loving all your new stock for the shop, and you are a great inspiration for me to get my bum into gear here and do something!

  60. I had so many thoughts running through my mind as I read this post until they were all blown away by that melamine dinnerware! I had just been searching for great looking outdoor dinnerware and had come up empty-handed. I'm totally in love. Some of these will surely go great with the new patio design Debra is working up for me.

The chandeliers and sconces look really splendid, and it was totally worth having them adjusted over and over until you got it just right. Bravo! Ah, and that playhouse. Have you ever seen anything so exquisitely adorable?! The kids' tool set on Angela's garden is really cute. Perfect for those tiny helping hands that like to dig right next to me. :) I'm headed over to check out the stationary. It's kind of sad not seeing as much stationary with attention to its detail in the mail lately. Everyone is so into electronic correspondence, and I understand that. But I think that makes receiving or sending something beautiful in the mail all that more special, and beautiful stationary is still important to me.

    Cheers,
