Bring on the green.....and a green thumb giveaway!


Good Thursday morning to you!  One of my favorite things, especially this time of year is gardening, watching everything turn from a pale dull brown to a rich vivid green. Of course normally in April, we are getting our gardening gloves out, and hitting our local nurseries on a weekly basis. Don't know about you but over here we are still having winter like weather....mother nature are you listening? Assuming spring really is coming.......is anything more exciting than seeing a simple long stalk start to bloom into something wonderful, floral and fragrant? I think not! I love it and except for the potential poison ivy risk (for those of use who are allergic like me), nothing can keep me away.

I have a particular obsession with white flowers against manicured boxwood, have for years and my online album is chock full of reasons why this combination works. So today, we are taking a look at all the beautiful ways to grow a beautiful lawn/garden and then the lowdown on a wonderful gardening gloves giveaway courtesy of   Angela's Garden, home to some of the prettiest gardening items  I have ever come across.  So its a double treat today.     Good morning, precious Tina! Put me in on this fabulous give-away! Like you all out there, we too are slow in getting our spring in place. The days are remarkably sunny but COLD and windy, so no gardening yet. But I am with ya on all of these photos, every single one of them. Though I love a colorful garden (more English), I am partial to the French style gardens that are more clipped, symmetrical and focus more on GREENERY and white. Last night as the sun was setting, we were enjoying a movie in our family room and off to the side through our French doors, we say a large rabbit enjoying himself in our boxwood garden. The snow has melted and now the orbs are exposed. He was jumping from one quadrant to another, and EVEN CAME UP to the platform leading up to the French doors. Last year, a rabbit and a squirrel sat there and looked in on our movie watching!!!!!!!!! So for us, the garden experience includes the wildlife that feels comfortable with our surroundings.

    Any heavy duty work gloves gets my vote since I go through three pairs a summer. Love all the images of gardens and I can't wait to dig into the earth. Our snow is finally melting but not fast enough but soon we'll have green under us!

    I LOVE the extra long garden gloves (the ones on sale for 20.00). I have soooooo much prep work and cleaning to do this spring after our fall hurricane, blizzard, and torturous winter. I am so excited for spring....for warm brown earth and life!

    Great giveaway! I can never have too many pairs of gardening gloves. It's been way too chilly here, was in the twenties on the way to work...brrr! Hoping to get out and do some cleanup and moving mulch this weekend! All of your pictures inspired me, I need some green time! We are covered in pollen down here in Alabama. Spring has definitely sprung in the South. Very stormy today but before this it has been truly glorious weather!     Good Morning Tina! The pictures of the beautiful gardens in your blog today are so inspiring. I live in the desert, but am constantly striving to turn our desert landscape into an English Garden. A daunting task indeed. Behind the wall leading to my back yard is a wonderful oasis with climbing rose bushes, giant Irises and any other flowering plant that I can get to grow. All of which are in bloom right now. My back yard is my oasis and spring and fall here in the desert are my favorite seasons where I can actually get my plants to flower before and after the intense desert heat. I visited Angela's garden facebook page. The green English Ivy garden gloves are so sweet.

    Hi Tina, this has me dreaming. We just bought a new house with beautiful old mature trees. Though it was somewhat neglected I have a vision of turning it into a lush oasis like many shown here. Like you I am a huge fan of boxwood and white flowers, no color for me. Something about the white is so elegant. I cannot wait to get busy. We are working with a well known landscape architect out of New Canaan who is coming up with such wonderful ideas, it has me so excited! Seeing this post is just the inspiration I need and I am going to show him this post, as so many of the looks I love you covered.

    Good Morning Tina! Toss my name in! I need gardening gloves and these look perfect. The white and green combination is common here in Seattle. We have lots of window boxes, topiaries, and hanging baskets around:) It's still too cold to get into any serious gardening .. but I can feel the weather changing and I expect to visit the nursery in a week or two. If I start planting too soon, that will guarantee a dip in temperature!

    I'm back and have a post up but it's not refreshing on your blog roll (blogger does not like me). Hope you are having a great week. Looking forward to milder temps and some sunshine so we can all get outside!

    Oh my goodness, they are all such enchanting gardens. I can almost feel what it feels like to be sitting in such beautiful, manicured outdoor spaces like that. I particularly liked the garden in the 5th photo with the water feature in the center and the open area of grass all around, and those long stemmed pink tulips are to die for! Off to look at look at Angelas garden now!

    The black door is spectacular, love it. Your examples of white gardens are so beautiful. I can see that I have a long way to go to getting my garden into the shape I want-although I do have over 100 iceberg roses already-so it's a good starting point.     Absolutely heavenly - such beautiful gardens. My parents are avid and talented gardeners, but I haven't got the patience. I want everything to be fully grown NOW. It drives my husband to distraction too, but he insists on buying and planting the smallest and cheapest plants possible and waiting for them to grow. I don't have the patience as I always want an instant garden.

    Thank you for the beautiful posts on gardening and then sharing Angela's Garden. In Australia right now it is Autumn but as we do not have winters like yours, where I am it is pretty much always gardening season (apart from the hottest summer days). I love white in the greenery but need other colour so as not to fade out in our bright light.
    The gardening gloves etc look wonderful and there really is only ever one colour for me and that would be blue. Cannot have too much! I love that the patterns at Angela's Garden include blue.

    My first visit to Angela's Garden Shop and I'm hooked! I love the Green Garden Collection, especially the apron. I have a cart, but the cart and I become separated along the way. The apron would be just what I need for those in between areas.

    Hydrangeas are my fave! Loving the white. There is a house in Chatham, MA called Hydrangea walk and it has blue hydrangeas lining the length of a brick walk stretching from the street to the front door - it's beautiful!! xo

    I agree...there is nothing quite so elegant and classic as white flowers on a green background. With a white house, I end up choosing flowers with color, but I so love the look of every single photo above.
