OK today is a little bit of this and a bit of that, more of that randomness that I seem to be better and better at posting! How much fun was Sharon's "One word" post yesterday? Her blog is like a super mini vacation every single morning! If you missed it, you must check it out, click here. Its one of those, "you cannot miss" posts!
On the home front the most exiting thing happening lately is that landscaping has begun! VERY exciting and I nearly forgot the power and transformative qualities of watching a yard come to life! We are very excited, and it wasn't until I was looking at some of my before pictures that I realized, yes it was needed! This is a very labor intensive, very expensive process so we are doing it in multiple stages. Right now focusing on the front and the patios, then theres a whole looooong laundry list of other areas. But its one step at a time, in any case below are some of the "in the process" pictures, thought you might enjoy them. By next week I hope to have pictures of a newly finished front with the exception of a few odds and ends we are waiting on.
Thankfully Teddy is on guard, watching their every move:)
These planters are "trials" but I think they are going....pretty but not exactly what I have in mind.
Promise to show you pictures in a day or two when the front is done!
The decorating is going slowly, admittedly its no one's fault but my own. I have the best of intentions and know exactly what I want but its soooo time consuming! I am determined to make this month of June a month where I get things on order, we finally finalized a living room layout and now I am just starting to fabric shop. I have decided on one sofa, woo hoo! Keeping the pair of French chests from my old house and basically am looking for a few upholstered pieces, mirrors, tables, chairs, etc......I know it will all come togehter and it will be so exciting when it does. You know i will keep you informed! The pair of chests I am keeping (along with the blue and white of course)
We have this magnificent chest from our old house, bought in France and we are figuring out where to use it. As many walls as we have so many of them are filled with windows, door openings or French doors that we are running out of wall space. My husband wants to convert it to the ultimate bath vanity for the powder room but I am torn, its such an incredible piece of furniture and I am just not sure. What do you think? You have to visualize with the mirror above, the honey onyx countertop and sink......thanks as always for your input.
I put an orchid in my pretty cherub dish, think it looks quite pretty!
Took this wiht my phone and a different setting, isn't it so pretty and soft?
For the powder room off the kitchen, the one that we all use there's a beautiful large window in there. Still nothing on it, which makes for some interesting peeping if one was so inclined:) I think I am going with one of the original paper choices and I love checks, gingham,etc...so am going to go with this yellow and white/gray check in a silk/linen and will finish it with a pretty soft gray tassel fringe to give it a little pizazz. Thoughts?
Narrowing down choices for my hubs bath, another large window in desperate need of some modesty. We have decided on going with a solid neutral linen and jazzing it up with a decorative tape. I silll like the original quite a lot but here are some other contenders......
The three I like best.....
Store biz......for anyone who was interested in the small round dough bowls, I just got 2 in (approx. 13") This size is very hard to get. They are online now. I also added the three beautiful new blue and white porcelain pieces to my store, shown below. Last I have one squirrel bowl left, its such a fabulous item, can't say how much I love it!
Remember the vendor whose things I featured last week, that everyone loved? Well they were almost all bought up within a few days, I am meeting with them again today to place an order for later summer/early fall but they are allowing me to buy some more samples, so I will show "my loot"in a day or two and they will son be added to the shop. For anyone who missed out as I had only one of each, chances are I might be getting another one or two of each item, will keep you posted, be on the lookout tomorrow!
A large 15" round bowl
Beautiful octagonal ginger jar 16" tall
Love the shape 16" tall
Wishing everyone an enchanted day! Thanks for stopping in.
Your home is so stunning, I am constantly drooling over it every time I get on your blog. You must feel like your in a dream every day. I must compliment you on your decorating, there isn't anything you have done that doesn't seem to fit...you have a real touch for this. I can't wait to see all the landscaping you will be doing, I am sure that it will be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLandscaping is so transformative isn't it? It looks like yours is going to be spectacular when it is finished. How exciting to see your vision come to life. And it just keeps getting better. I'm always amazed to see early photos of Poplar Grove, compared with now. The plantings become so lush in 5-10 years, it's like magic!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is one of the ones that I visit every day, along with my daughter's. So you know I love your posts. That chest looks great in your bathroom, but it is so gorgeous it would look fab anywhere........with or without water added. I love the picture of the chest with the orchid planter. I am wondering about the pair of... (not sure exactly what they are) that sit on either side of the chest. They look like girandoles, but do not seem to be candle holders. What are they........they are fabulous! Thanks for the glimpse into your world.
ReplyDeleteTina if you ever decide to do the "E design" that is gaining popularity, I will hands down be your first customer! I absolutely love your style, you have such a gift with color, scale and putting things together, you are one talented lady!! I love seeing your gorgeous home come together, one step at a time, its so exciting!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing as you always do, for the tape for your husbands bath,I love the original and I like the last one pictured, love the idea of a solid linen shade with the tape, perfect! For your powder room, absolutely adore the combination, dont' think twice, it can't get better!
The chest in the bath is magnficent but I would have a hard time converting it to a vanity and I am sure its quite expensive since its from France, to me it belongs in a grand hallway or living room, just too pretty to use in a bath. Just my five cents. Love all you do. I would love to see a book about this entire process!
Oh, I can't wait to see the final product! Landscaping is such an art form and I'm sure yours will be beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for your garden Tin, I admit the sight of the little bushes lined up on the lawn made me laugh - they look like the seven dwarfs lining up for lunch!!
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful weekend, and thank you for the star treatment I got from you and your lovely readers yesterday

Cant wait to see the finished product on landscaping--it makes such a difference. As to you house choices absolutely stunning--I agree with the person who says you should do the e-design!! xo Leslie
ReplyDeleteIs there anything I don't like in your house? I mean, I drool at everything I see!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteYou have an amazing taste and I enjoy seeing everything you put together.
Have a great day, my dear friend.

PS: Matthew is in my arms and says "Hi". :-)
Cut gravel and boxwood. You can't go wrong! It will be beautiful! That trunk is something else! I'd hate to see it cut up as well. Could it go at the end of a bed? I'm not sure if you're thinking of keeping it there, with the wallpaper, but in the light of your picture, it looks like the color of the paper and the stone conflict. Lots of great projects! Enjoy the process! It will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteI truly look forward to your posts everyday! Your house is just spectacular and the landscaping looks to be amazing. The idea of the chest as your new vanity is awe inspiring. I would love to have such a piece in my home. I think it would look beautiful, but I am not sure the stone matches the colors of the wallpaper. Your decorating talent is extraordinary Tina. Thank you for continuing to inspire me daily. So glad to see Teddy enjoying himself again. Has anything come about concerning the dogs next door? Enjoy your week! looking forward to all your decorating choices.
Tina, Love all your plantings! I love a formal manicured looking flower bed and yours is going to be wonderful. I went to the garden center yesterday looking for blue and white plantings with a bit of pink thrown in, I love flowers and going to the nursery always makes me smile. Loving the gingham for the powder room. Gingham is an all time fav of mine and your is so elegant with the marble and the wallpaper choice. Moving right along and I am having fun watching the process, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday,
Kathysue
Tina, love the landscaping. It is the icing on the cake. I also adore the bathrooms. Its always fun to see the design process.
ReplyDeleteCan not wait to see the landscaping in place, especially the veranda. What is in the planter to the left of the main entry? Is that Ivy? where will this be planted? inside..the darker powder room is gorgeous with the dark chest but when I scrolled down and saw the lighter chest in the hallway, it took my breath away! I love everything light & airy and this is gorgeous! Not a fan of gingham for the window treatment, your house is so sophisticated and feel this is just too country. The window treatment for your Husband bath would look lovely with solid linen and either the circle or greek motif tape. The circles would coordinated with the flooring while the greek motif would add contrast, all a matter of personal choice. Your home is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to see the transformations in landscaping, especially when it's your home that's getting transformed. The chest from France, don't know if I would be brave enough to use it as a vanity. It's such a beautiful piece and would lovely as a vanity, but my opinion, keep it as a decorative chest some place else in your home. Thanks for sharing.

Tina,
ReplyDeleteAs always, a tour of your home is such a delight. I'm thinking the beautiful chest would make an amazing vanity...love it!
Karen
The stone top on the vanity doesnt work well with the beautiful wallpaper. I lighter wood vanity with a cream stone top would help to lighten the room overall and would look pretty with the gold sconces.
ReplyDeleteI really like your fabric choices for the powder room - it is elegant against the marble keeps the look light.
ReplyDeleteThe trim for the window treatment in your husbands bath - I like the taupe coloured Lee Jofa. It gives a strong connection to the colours of the floor without being too heavy. The Highland Court is too much of a match to the flooring.
LOVE all of your garden and looking forward to seeing the final plantings in place.
First and foremost, so happy to see Teddy. It really makes me smile just to know he is doing okay. You must keep him safe.
ReplyDeleteSecond, loving the landscape. I thought it was impossible to improve on your house but I was wrong. Hope you let us know what all the plantings are someday.
Tina, I love all of the tailored landscaping you are choosing - so classic! I agree on the planters though - perhaps something in a darker color for more contrast against all of the gorgeous stone? Just an idea. I know what you mean about getting bogged down on the decorating front - my house is on a much smaller scale to say the least and I have hit a wall - I'm done for a while and I never thought I'd say that! The master bedroom and dining room are just going to have to stay "undone" for a while until I get re-energized again!
ReplyDeleteLandscaping beauty abounds! So fun to go from construction zone to the finished look, only to have it mature into something even better. Love the gingham and paper, love the top tape on the first few bath floor pics, the tone on tone circles, for the window trim in your husband's bath. I converted a fabulous Austrian marble top bureau for a powder room. It was so beautiful, I was not sorry. I'm not sure I'd choose to cut yours up, though. I'd know that the direct light was going to damage the magnificent face of that cabinet. I'd find another place of honor for it...that's just my choice.
ReplyDeleteSo much beauty!
And yes, Sharon's post was fantastic!
xoxo, Chris
Tina, I know that your husband's idea is a good one but oooh it kind of breaks my heart as I never see pieces like that here in France! Or very, very, very rarely.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the Teddy photo. My goodness, to look at him today you would never know...!
You never stop wowing me with your beautiful photos of your home inside and out. When I visit you I always go to your shop and my
ReplyDeletewish list is so long. I love your taste.
Thanks for starting up your on-line store.
Hi Tina!
ReplyDeleteOur friend told me you two met! I'm so jealous! I know we would be fast friends...love the Wallcovering and the gingham. That chest is divine too. AND that floor! Gorgeous.
Anywho...good to see Teddy and perhaps some day our paths will cross.
Hugs,
Amy
Oh wow Tina lots of lovely pics today. Loved the ones you took on a different setting ~ very very pretty. The landscaping is looking grand already!

Loved to see the pictures of the outside too! Love love love just everything you showed here today!

Tina all the shrubs are gorgeous and the landscape will be awesome. I'm eyes won't leave the beautiful stone out front. Teddy is looking wonderful, so happy to see that. I'm lovin your choices with the paper and fabric, got to say the gingham is so pretty. Of course I love the blue and white on the pair of chests. Beautiful, beautiful……

The French Hutch
Tina-
ReplyDeleteWithdrawal cured!! So happy to see an update, and please keep the French chest just as is!! Oh goodness, it it SO beautiful.
I can't believe all that you have gotten done outside! Amazing. As always every thing in your home and your shop is impeccable. I love the fabrics, trims, you name it.
Seeing Teddy reminded me to tell you that I had to take my sweet angel, Lady, to the vet this morning. Have been up with her 48 hours straight, and of course they always seem better when the vet is open, but she has fluid on her lungs, and the vet gave us two powerful shots, one being an antibiotic, the other Lasix or other fluid buildup drug.. I am praying it works. Shih Tsu are known to have congestive heart failure at her age, so I am praying and keeping my fingers crossed that all will be well. She is certainly sleeping now. Prayers welcomed!
I love everything you have done,a nd I can't wait to see the living room. I love what I can see of the rug!!.
Happy Thursday.
Teresa

What a spectacular post! Love love that chest, OMG I could not bear to do a thing to it other than to display it in the most high traffic area possible! Too beautiful for words, LOVE the gingham and paper combo as I do the tape and solid treatment idea for husbands bath, the circle or the last one are my two personal favorites.
ReplyDeleteThe landscaping is GORGEOUS! Love that manicured not overly done look, I cannot wait to see it done, I bet you are so excited, we finished ous on our new home last summer and the transformation was incredible. Cannot wait to see the new goodies and I think I need a dough bowl!
the landscaping is going to be fabulous, tina! i don't know that i have seen this part of the exterior before, and my jaw is kind of on the ground. drowning in beauty over here.
ReplyDeletethe french piece is incredible no matter how you enjoy it. i love your eye for fabric and patterns! you have a real gift.
Tina:
ReplyDeleteI loved the new brown , black and gold chinoiserie tray that you only had one of, if you get another I would love to buy that from you. If you have time will you let me know.
Love your blog, love you. Having so much fun seeing the garden going in. You are not kidding it is expensive…look at the size of box you are putting in. Yikes.
Cheers,
Melinda
I am loving the landscaping! I think it will be outstanding and extremely anxious to see it when it is finished. I can already tell that wonderful decisions are being made. How exciting!!!! Teddy is doing a great job by keeping watch. I so enjoy your blog. Thank you for sharing. Marlene
ReplyDeleteLooks like the outside is coming along beautifully! Your right it is a lot of work and a lot of $$ but its oh so worth it when its all done. Can't wait to see the back as well. Question on what appear to be the vining plant at the front door, did your brick mason give you any advice? Ours has indicated that plants will extract lime from the mortar, causing the mortar to break down quicker.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting to see how the landscaping progresses.
ReplyDeleteAs always the rest of your house looks stunning.
Have a lovely day.
Lizx
I absolutely love your landscaping! I really want to put those round shrubs in my yard, as well. They will have to be Florida proof though. Can't wait to see your after photos! You always have great inspiration here! XO
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home. I've been following your progress for the past several months. Is that ivy intended to grow on the house to the left of the front entrance? Also, I know your focus is on decorating, but would you ever consider doing a post about the layout of the home and your process for determining what you wanted in that respect? Your finishes are so beautiful, it would be great to see how all of the rooms fit together. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThrilled to see the landscaping...it's the jewelry and I love it. My only regret with what I do professionally is that I don't have more time to spend in the landscape and gardens...I just love it. Fabulous fabric choices too...to go with that fabulous floor. Mona
ReplyDeleteLandscaping is so transformational....it will beautifully frame your already stunning home. Can't wait to see the reveal!!
ReplyDeleteI really could look and play with fabrics and trims (love those even more) all day. Love the directions you are headed.
And, do I spy yet another, new header? Lovely!!
xoxo Elizabeth
Tina- the landscaping in process is OUTSTANDING! Cannot wait to see the big reveal, love that you are not overdoing it and going with a very structural effect, so complimentary to the magnficent home its framing.
ReplyDeleteThe gingham (is it silk) and wallpaper is STUNNING. A keeper if you ask me.
Ditto your husbands glorious bath choices. I agree the three you said are your top picks would be mine too and I would still go wtih original one mimicing the circles in the floor, FABULOUS!
I love your store, and am really enjoying all the wonderful items I purchased. Next on my list is a long dough bowl, a few of your hunting pillows and more silver.LOVE that stuff, and my husband just doesn't get it, hehe but he likes to see me happy so he just goes with it, GOOD GUY that he is.
Happy to see things humming right along at your VERY enchanted home (anxiously awaiting to see the goods you got)!~
WOW! That is a huge landscaping project! Those are some very large boxwoods going in. I am sure it is going to be lovely. I adore the fabrics you chose for the powder room off the kitchen. They are gorgeous. I fact, I have a very similar one (if not the same) in a different colorway in my house.
ReplyDeleteUnbelievably beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteoh tina, i am LOVING your landscaping. can anyone ever have enough boxwood? no, you can't! crazy for the crushed bluestone drive and your exquisitely formed edging stone. cannot wait to watch it unfold.
ReplyDeletei agree with your assessment on the pots, you can also go much larger
by the way, just happen to think you are the textile queen, always combining lovely contrasts
much luv
debra
Your landscaping is going to be beautiful. Love how Teddy is supervising! I think the piece you got in France would be gorgeous converted!! I think I need to save up for a ginger jar. I have the perfect spot for one! xo
ReplyDeleteWow has your house come a long way. It looks stunning! Happy weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteThat mirror is amazing.
