Which would you choose?




Good morning!! First a few things...... May I just say that once again, I feel so blessed to have such an amazing group of people following my blog! I know I keep gushing but  I just have to let you know!!   Your comments and emails yesterday just melted my heart, and I truly mean that, your support and friendship is amazing and certainly validates what I do and why I do it. 

Second, onto my knob dilemma from yesterday, I knew by days end that it would make me crazy to have this nagging doubt that they were too big, I mean they almost looked like small doorknobs! So off they came and they are boxed up and ready to go back today and I will wait for the right size. I get hung up on these things so know I did the right thing. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT!!!!

To anonymous posters, I have NO problem with someone expressing their point of view and that is why I allow anonymous posters which many bloggers do not but I will not tolerate nor let it go unnoticed when someone is mean spirited or unusually judgemental. If you do not like my blog, what I like, what I am doing or anything about me or my blog you do not need to come here, period. This is who I am, this blog is an honest representation of myself and what excites me and what I love in life.  There is a blog for everyone as there are millions....so when I see a blog that is not for me for whatever reason, I move on. You know how it goes "you don't have something nice to say you just don't say it". That's how I was brought up. That said, if you want to "play nice" then you are more than welcome!! Here's a "free pass".......


Now onto the fun part.......

Its that time again...you know the drill. And its a continuation from that wonderful Tapas dinner party you just gave, you know the one you slaved over last week...... Everyone ate to their hearts content, you utterly amazed all of your adoring guests who are now urging you to either open up your own tapas catering company or at the least write a book, yep you were that big of a hit! Perhaps working in a sumptuous kitchen helped just a little :)

Its now time to relax a bit and some of your guests have chosen to go to the library after dinner,  to hang out with a a glass of brandy or port, have a second piece of dessert and continue the lively conversation with your guests.  A library is a room that most of us equate with a roaring fire, loads of captivating and well read books, maybe a great rug and a room that oozes coziness and warmth. At least that's what I think of when I think of a library. 

So.....here we go, time to choose your library. Certainly something for everyone, big and grand, cozy and intimate, more modern or transitional or ultra old world and traditional. You have earned this much needed break to prop up your feet with an after dinner drink and its time to gloat in all the accolades over your fabulous tapas dinner and why not....you have earned every minute of it! So kick off those shoes, get cozy, and decide which you will be chilling out in. So which will you choose for this next part of the evening?

    Choice 14 for me. Its very old world, love all the wood, the tall ceilings and an after dinner drink would just feel right in a room like that!

    I always get stuck on these because you offer us so many fabulous choices. You are going to laugh at me, but I would like #1 for reading a Christmas story and #4 for spending a cozy weekend curled up with a wonderful book that I can't get my nose out of!! xo

    Good morning, bravo to you for what you said to the anonymous commenters who are anything less than kind. Jealousy is a very ugly quality and I am glad you will not tolerate it.

    Now onto this yummy post, this is a very hard decision but with the lovely setting you painted, its a dead tie for me between 2 and 3. They are both just the right amount of glamour, transitional elegance that I love, drama with their dark dark woods and interesting printed fabrics. I would be happy as a clam in either!

    I love these! My vote is #1 then #12! Have been crazed here as I assume everyone is these days.. painting a couple of rooms here and starting to think about Christmas. Yikes!

    Glad on your decision about the knobs... follow your intuition - it will always be 99.9% right!!

    You are very supported on your comments on the Anonymous - good grief...you are right again.. there are sooo many other blogs they could follow and be happy with as all the rest of us are thrilled with yours!

    I love #12! It's my style. I love lots of natural light and big rounded doors, the beautiful fire place and the feel of enjoying the outdoors while still inside.

    I would pick #9. There is something inviting about all that green, and the big fire so close at hand. The room is small and cozy but laid out perfectly for talking and hanging out!

    11 or 13, they are grand and both so cozy, different styles but I could so see curling up my feet with a glass of wine in both of those rooms, they are so pretty!

    Impossible to choose! But I adore 16! Pink in a library! I've never seen it work so well. It is time for us to redo the walls in our library and I was considering lightening them, so I was fascinated by choices 12 and 8. Perhaps I will show them to my husband in an effort to convince him! Such beautiful photos. Where do you find them all!!!?? Really enjoy your blog.

    You make this so hard! I love it! I have to go with 13 or 9, as a second choice. I used to think I was all over the place when it came to room designs but after playing this fun game so many times, I am beginning to see a pattern of what catches my eye. ALl the best to you and your family.

    I have been a follower of your blog for about a month. I'm a little behind the times, but I just now have realized valuable information there is on home decorating blogs. I am always updating my home....I always purchased magazines and books, but this is Free. Oh my goodness what a deal. I love your blog and admire your taste. This is also my first comment on a blog. I did not understand why people would comment, but I have come to realize that it is to let you, the blogger, know that we appreciate what you are doing.     Love #1 and #8, but would have to be #12! Although, I would change out the painting over the fireplace for a gorgeous mirror or perhaps a piece of fabulous, soft contemporary art...maybe Dusty Griffith. Love playing this game :)

    #9 for sure. I love green and to see that luscious green paneling and green velvet ottoman and chair in the corner - oh my! I love the print they put on the curtains too! Did you notice the little fox statue staged to stare at you? Also, to have a velvet tufted ottoman to set things off is a big plus! This should be the winner and I'll keep my fingers crossed!

I will choose #1, love the light and the fire place, and the mirror above the fire place and the herringbone parquet floors, and, and, and! although the chicken wire didn't work for me, the bench by the window make it a winner! ... however I will keep room # 11 as a second option (if the sofas were a little more cosier....)

    Ahh I love a cozy library! I think I have to go with #1. At my friend's beautiful home in Dallas, their library was just off of the kitchen and thus became the family room where we watched TV while eating goldfish and drinking Dr. Pepper after school. I love the idea of the library being the central room in your house.

    Tina, if you were to ask my boys what one of my favorite sayings is they would tell you, mom always told us, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." it's just such a great philosophy to live by!!!

    On to the contest. This was hard. Earlier someone said they would choose #12 but she would have to change the art. I totally agreed. I think my favorite is #1. It looks like linen fabric on the upholstery--I love it!

    Let's go into our library, #9! It's a lovely, earthy shade of green and best of all, a great ottoman to put out feet on! Total comfort!

    You are clearly "living the dream" but are never pretentious! (I thought I had it good! ) at the end of the day, we all want to rest our head on the pillow at night, knowing that we mean something to others and are living a life the way God wants us to live it and one we can be proud of.

    Well, there was something for everyone in these beautiful libraries, contemporary, masculine, exotic, but I am a traditional girl and had to go back and forth between 6 and 16 but #6 won my heart as my first choice, followed by 16 as my second and then #9 and #1 as my third and fouth choices. Good decison on the knobs, that kind of thing can drive you crazy after a while!!

    I loved #1, love the mirror over the fireplace and the layout of the room, #9 looks super comfy to curl up and read a book in...Love the fun spunky pattern and style of the chair on the right front corner in room #15, I love the clean lines and feel also of #12....just to hard to decide!!! I want a room with a few elements of all these! Happy day to you all!

    tina, I know most libraries are on the darkish side, but I am a light and bright gal so it is #12 for me. I would have to have the fireplace with a fire in it though!! That always makes a room cozy to me!!I think I would have to remove Mr. Washington's picture too. He looks a bit stern, in its place would be a seascape, to take me away....... xo Kathysue

    So glad you did libraries as I am thinking of what direction to go with mine!! love them all, but after seeing #9 I am leaning towards green!!! I was going to do dark paneling-my husband has a lot of sports momentos (sp?) i have to work with and I was trying to make it a little more sophisticated. The green kind of reminds me of a football field or golf course!

    Such hard choices, but my husband and I are going with #9. I love your blog and thanks for reminding those mean spirited anonymous postings people to be kind. My mother always used that on us! The only reason I am using anonymous is that I am beginner on the internet--not sure how to do the others!

    I'm going with #5...although I love your idea of having a second piece of dessert in any one of these gorgeous rooms. What I love about #5...the color of the leather chairs against the gray backdrop of walls and draperies...the mix of the Johnathon Adler pillows and a zebra rug. I'm going back to look for your oatmeal cookie recipe!

    I might not leave a comment very often but I do look forward to reading your blog daily. You certainly have a gift in writing. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into it.

    As for the library selection I'm going with a classic tried and true choice, #7.

    My daughter and I both took the style quiz you had posted yesterday. Not only was it enjoyable but I found out I'm "Old Money Extravagance" and she's "Antiquated Espresso". We really enjoyed finding out our styles.

    I love the "feel" of #4, but honestly I don't like the furniture! I love looking at your blog and watching your beautiful new home come to life. I can't wait to see the finished home.     #7. It is warm and cozy, not too formal. I can see me or one of my fam taking a nap there after curling up to read a good book!

    Perhaps the Cranky Commenter just needs to get to know us better! It won't be long before he/she discovers that no there are no unkind words spoken here!

    I, myself, used to not be a big fan of the Fall season. But after reading so many beautiful blogs on the subject, I have become enlightened and I think it is now the best!..Was blind but now I see!

    I really don't know if I should choose n°6 or n°7. I like them both a lot.
    It depends on the style of the home! N°6 is a French styled library and n°7 an English styled one!
    Ok I choose for n°7.

    I love the colors and finishes in Space #1 but Space #9's furniture layout is ideal for great conversation and the textures make you just want to settle in and enjoy the rest of the evening.

    Love number one and (several others) of course. I enjoy using my iPhone and MacBook Air to look up maps and words I may not understand their meanings. It's an enriching experience for me. Love books in all their formats, physical books and digital books as well, pocket size and coffee table.

    Oooh! Number 1! I love the pine, the light, the beams on the ceiling, the detail on the moldings and the wire on the doors…DELICIOUS!

    I'm surprising myself a little with my choice of number 5; I'm usually more traditional/French/English. But I really like the eclectic spin on that room.

    I love your description of the evening eating tapas then retreating to the library. I watched the 1996 movie, Emma, last night. I loved how there were so many gatherings of friends in the movie, and I noticed that the closer friends were often entertained, on casual occasions, in the library. Such a cozy and friendly place to entertain. Great post!

    I like 1, 2, 3, 12 and 15. LOL. Sorry for the multiple choices but they're all great and each have a feature that I think would suit that library of yours! I do feel that a window is a must... especially during those rainy days perfect for curling up with a good novel and the occasion glimpse of raindrops on your library window! :)

    I do love number 1 and I love the old world feeling of 15 and 16, it reminds me of a much bigger version of the coy but elegant library in the house I grew up in right outside of Philadelphia.

    #7 - I love the cozy feel of the wood ceiling and the sofa against the bookshelf. I could see myself curled up in there in the evening with a crackling fire going and reaching for a good book while sipping on a hot chocolate.
