I am excited to be here today along with a ridiculously talented group of blogger friends as part of a new series entitled By Invitation Only. This is the brainchild of fabulous Marsha from the splendid blog, Splenderosa.  Please visit her to be directed to other blogs and see what they came up with! We will present our interpretation of a certain quote or theme once a month collectively, and today's quote, a beautiful quote by William Henry Channing is our topic and inspiration for today's post. When I read and thought about this quote, what it means to me is simplicity, seeing the beauty in the simplest of things, the small things we are so busy to overlook. Nature, our families, a bountiful harvest from the earth, our changing seasons, are all things that to me are my symphony. So below is what inspires me when I read this lovely quote.

"To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart, to bear all cheerfully, to all bravely await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony."

A sImple setting in a small courtyard in Europe
Sitting alone watching a brilliant sky
Watching my kids enjoying each others company along a quite shore
Talking a walk with family and friends along a jewel toned path of falls glory
A simple meal made with ingredients just picked from the ground
This just strikes me as magical
A lone Tuscan farm deep in the belly of a fertile valley
Lavender fields aglow in purple splendor, I can almost smell the decadent scent wafting through the air
White crystalline snow glistening on the branches and trees like little jewels
A dinner for two on a quite beach on a perfect summer evening
A quiet moment with mans best friend admiring natures magic
A quaint Tuscan town right before a rainstorm
A simple and beautiful meal in the company of friends
A fabulous vineyard with the suns magic smiling upon it....

Hope you enjoyed this and do visit the other participants, its always fun to see how everyone else interpreted this. Wishing you all a wonderful day!!

You write from the heart, expressing all that you love, through your writing and those amazing pictures; fields of green and lavender, walks on the beach at sunset, a woman who is really inspired by nature. Thank you for sharing all these beautiful thoughts with us. Your home is amazing, May all the love, you have and share, be built within each brick to share that love with all those who enter it.

  26. Tina- That is just a beautiful portrayal of a quote I have always admired. It is hard sometimes to live simply when there is so much of the "worldly" pulling at us. I have taken a few steps back in the way I used to live and am re-discovering all the precious beauty that is just at my own doorstep. Love this concept and will go visit the other bloggers, too!

I smiled coming in here because my friend had a place called By Invitation Only and sold -guess-? Invitiations for weddings, parties, baptisms, beautiful papers and pens and all that went with it.

Have a wonderful week-glad you are back online~ xo Diana

  28. Tina, what a lovely group of images that speaks to the passage so wonderfully. For some reason when looking at this post, taking Sunday drives with my grandmother in the spring to look at the dogwoods blooming came to mind. That was a special time.

  30. This is so much fun seeing how everyone is interpreting this lovely quote! Your images are, once again, stunning. The FALL one took my breath away! And the snow covered scene too. The beach scene reminded me of our daughters honeymoon. They ahd a dinner on the beach for 2, compliments of the resort they were staying in. Magical! I see beauty through your eyes in these photos! 36. Hi Tina, this is a wonderful concept, and what a wonderful quote! I promptly saved it, because it really encompasses the values that we should all strive to live with. It also puts me in mind of a French saying, buy like you're rich and wear like you're poor. In other words, pick classic elegance over trendiness and make it last. Learn to appreciate the simpler things in life that are free. We once met an older couple who was incredibly wealthy and yet you would never have known by their demeanour, they were so modest and unassuming, and they put their family above everything else. They stayed true to themselves. This I admire most. Thank you for this lovely and inspiring post!

  38. Tina, this is simply splendid, as are YOU! Cruising off the wild Alaskan coast left me without internet almost the entire time, so I'm tardy to the party. Your post has made me smile & think how beautifully you interpreted the theme. Thank you for participating and making our 1st venture completely 100% successful. Sending love, my friend....
