Good morning, hope everyone is doing great on this Sunday morning. Its been a fairly relaxing weekend so you won't hear any complaints from me though I am sad that summers end is near. This is going to be the last Sunday I will be featuring Sunday showhouse, I am stopping it for a few reasons. One is time, I am finding that to put together this post in particular is taking more time than I sometimes have on the weekend (and don't want to feature just any old house) and I also believe its important to change things up! Perhaps in the future I may start it up again but for now I am going to take a break from Sunday show house and brainstorm to come up with something new.
With summers days winding down, which has me quite melancholy, I don't have to tell you its important to savor every last drop of summer. Slowly, the fruit and farm stands will start closing up shop, the summer crowds will thin out, the "beach traffic" will be no more and we will creep into falls splendor, crisp mornings, changing foliage,etc.....but for now, I want to enjoy summers last few weeks! Being on or near the water is summer at its best. So today we visit three fabulous homes all on or near the waters edge. Starting in beautiful always sunny Punta Cana and ending up in idyllic Nantucket, I could happily call any of these three beautiful abodes home. Always love to know which is your favorite....
PUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. This fabulous home decorated by Juan Montoya defines elegant island living at its finest. Consisting of 5 guest suites, almost all rooms offer a view of the magnificent ocean. The style is an updated version of an old world Spanish Colonial. The decor is tropical and refined. The views would be keep me outdoors all the time, and I could be chained to one of those chaises by the pool staring out to the ocean and not utter a peep! Step inside and see what you think.....
Look at the height and drama of this indoor/outdoor space....
So lush
That view framed against the dark wood of the window is quite dramatic!
Architecturally this home is spectacular....just look at those windows!
Hints of Moroccan themed decor are found throughout
This is my new screensaver.......fainting over how gorgeous this is!
What place for a pool party!!
This is where you would find me nearly all the time, this right here is perfection!
PALM BEACH, AUSTRALIA. This fabulous beach home was designed for a family that lives in Sydney during the week, which is approx. 1 hour away from coastal Palm Beach. Built in a protected environment conservation area, it has the double blessing of being in a protected area and being on a peninsula with lush greenness and golden sand, not typical for that region. The interiors were beautifully executed to reflect the families formal lifestyle but remain welcoming and warm as a weekend beach retreat. I love the end result, see what you think......
Beautiful and welcoming
Love the color palette, of the creams and blues
Great dining area
Family room off of the kitchen
All the outdoor spaces are so beautiful and charming
NANTUCKET, MASSACHUSETTS. Finally we arrive to this newly built fabulous Cape Cod style shingled home/compund. Elegantly appointed in coastal chic, the house is very light and airy, with lots of open space, love the seaside decor. An enterainters dream, it also boasts not one but two spearate adorable charming guest houses perfect for those big get togethers. Distant water views and a beautiful pool and tennis setting complete this incredible home, and make this home a perfect summer getaway!
The compound with its main house, two guest houses, pool and tennis....wow!!
How adorable is this guest house?
Elegant entry.....
Love all the white and in the living room....
Cozy slipcovered chairs in the pretty dining room
A TV/family room
Breakfast room right off the kitchen
Master, love the with and seagrass with touches of blue.......
Love this sitting area/living room with coral accents
Another view of the master.......
Boasts its own movie theater!
Cozy sitting area/guest room
Elegant master bath
Another charming guest room with its own fireplace
Big open upstairs den/great hangout for the kids!
The living room of one of the guest houses......beautiful!
And yet the living room of the other guest house!
Cozy kitchen sitting area of guest house...love the chairs
Adorable charming guest room
Outside terrace, a perfect place for everyone to convene
You know I alwawys like to know what you think and which is your favorite! I could see spending a few weeks in each one, that would be perfect! Something to love in each. Wishing you a wonderful Sunday.
Hi tina. I can just imagine how hectic things must be getiing the closer you draw to completion of your beautiful home. I just gave my son a tour of your Thursday posts to show him your wonderful home. He has impeccable taste for a young man and says he loves it and it is similar to what he has in mind for his dream home! Now on to todays post, well its no contest that the first home is an clear winner for me. Love the detail and those windows in the bedroom is stunning.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a great sunday. Thank you for all the great Sunday posts. I have enjoyed them to bits.
Hugs
Veronica
Hi Tina,
ReplyDeleteI completely understand the time involved in creating your wonderful show home posts, although I will miss them and their ability to create a 'visual weekend escape'.
The home in the Dominican Republic is beyond breathtaking, inside and out. While the other two homes are amazing as well, the first has to be my favorite.
Enjoy your Sunday!
So much pretty to look at here. I am going to have to say the Nantucket is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to new things.
Have a nice Sunday, Tina.

The view at the Dominican Republic home is breathtaking. We can picture ourselves hanging out there for a while.
ReplyDeleteThat Nantucket home is so absolutely gorgeous! I love every room and can imagine taking a summer nap in that guest room! Love it love it! I may have to share this one on my blog so that I have it for future reference! God bless and have a great Sunday Tina!
ReplyDeleteNantucket - ahhhhh! I LOVE that master bedroom with the bold blue on white! I love all white rooms!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow all beautiful but the one most calling my name is the Nantucket home. I could imagine long weekends spent with plenty of family and friends, and since it has 2 guest homes there would be room for everyone with "breathing room". I love the decor, perfect for a coastal home. But that Punta Canas location and views are unrivavled. Beautiful Sunday post.
ReplyDeleteOh, I totally understand not posting during the weekends, or sunday, in your case. I work on my blog every day of the week and try to come with some ideas (posts) during the weekend. It's a full time job really.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit sad summer is most gone too. Both my kids will be at school. Mornings will be so quiet...
Loved all the houses but if I had to choose one I'd go with the last one. That one is so lovely!

That Nantucket guest house is ENOUGH FOR ME! Let me be by the water and I will be so happy. OR....in the hills of PRovenCe...oh yeah!!! Dearest, your post is as wonderful as ever!!!! BISOUS, Anita
ReplyDeleteI would happily wipe my sandy feet to stay in that charming Nantucket guest cottage. Can you believe that I have never been to ACK? I hope to go one day with my paint brushes.

You made it too hard to choose today Tina! For an unforgettable vacation I'd choose the DR resort but I really feel like I could live in the Australian home...and I loved the coral accented room in the Nantucket home...like I said, hard to choose!
ReplyDeleteI am enthralled and like Patricia would be happy as a clam in the guest house. I love the yellow walls, that basket in the dining, the perfect touch, the views, it is a Wow if ever I have seen one!
ReplyDeleteSome great art as well!

What choices we have today! I think the place in the DR is my style exactly, and it may actually be the closest to Houston. Beautiful beautiful images, Tina. Don't know how you do it! xx's
ReplyDeleteof course
ReplyDeletei love the tropical home with the white washed chair.
and, well,
nantucket is always a favorite of mine.
how ever do you do all this everyday.
your'e the best!!!
xx
I have a weakness for anything Colonial, whether British or Spanish, so I choose the Dominican Republic. I had a memorable visit to the DR, back in the 80's, that included a private tour of Oscar de la Renta's home in Casa de Campo. I think that helped seal my love for the style. He has since moved to Punta Cana, and from your photos you can see why!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the Palm Beach Austraila home today but the Punta Cana home is a close second. Love the decor of the Punta Cana home.
ReplyDeleteI am buying a ticket to the DR immediately after posting this! LOVE the Punta Cana home, the decor and that setting are just my style. Enjoy these final days of summer. I have my swimsuit on and am ready for a jump in the lake!
ReplyDeleteHi Tina,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you about that pool post! It takes your breath away! I am one to always go to local designer showhouses so I always appreciate these virtual ones. You have awesome taste!

Tina, definitely the Nantucket house for me!! Wonderful pictures!!
ReplyDeleteYou are right... maybe there should be a designated "day off" for Bloggers and those of us who read them!! Something to think about...:)
Gosh I can understand why you want to claim your Sundays back a huge post to have to put together. I love the second property put that on the land of the first one then I would be in heaven :)))
ReplyDeleteMy favorite shot here is your screen saver. What a spectacular view!! And I totally support your not posting on Sunday - everyone needs a break!!
ReplyDeleteTina, it is so, so hard to post 7 days a week, and your posts are always so long and well researched....you obviously do not just throw them together. I hope you enjoy your well deserved break on Sundays!!
ReplyDeleteStacy
I hope you enjoy your Sundays ... It is sooo hard to post 7 days a week, and you deserve the break! I'm sure it will be filled with other work, but hope you have some time to relax!
ReplyDeleteStacy
Hope you had a fabulous weekend, Tina.
ReplyDeleteI take any of these houses, maybe Palm beach in Aus. Close, convenient and beautiful.

Gorgeous EVERYTHING. I am still thinking about how crisp the green stripe and green and white headboard is...very pretty. I am sad that summer is over...or getting there. Well, still so much to look forward to...like the developments on your home. Take Sunday off OF COURSE...how much enjoyment you give us...I do not know how you do it!
ReplyDeletePUNTA CANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC!I would never move from the first 2 indoor/outdoor space places. EVEN to get in the bedroom with most perfect windows I've seen for my taste. OTHER than to get to pool, FAINT! & the reflecting pool/ foutain has my tip top fav. squirter thingys. BUBBLES lit at night, ha!
ReplyDeleteAND..I see tables NO kitchen. Thank goodness. Love to eat, cooking not my trick. Perfect set up for the food I plan on having DELIVERED or the handsome chef (think Anthony Bourdain) I would employ, whew:)& yay. Living large my style!
That Sydney Palm Beach house is divine!!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you on giving yourself a little break from Sunday Showhouse, it has to be an *immense* amount of work. Having said that, Nantucket please. Just gorgeous! The Sydney house is also amazing, but the commute to Australia would be killer. (Heh, heh.)
ReplyDeleteSending you a smile for the new week,
tp
What a way to finish your Sunday Showhouses. That Palm Beach house is my all-time favourite house in Australia. It's my ultimate dream home. Love everything about it. So that's probably my favourite, but the Nantucket house is a very close second. The same thing but on a considerably grander scale. Thanks for all these wonderful weekend posts, you deserve a break.
ReplyDeleteI'll take the Dominican Republic home! I'll miss your Sunday Showcase, but you deserve a break. And although the actual construction of your home is almost complete, the task of beautifully furnishing and decorating it is just beginning. You're going to be one busy lady. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteHello! Could you kindly share the source for the Nantucket home? We are in the design process of a beach home, and I'd love to know the architect etc. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHoly manoly....those are some really yummy homes...stuff dreams are made of for sure! I am partial to the last one...the setting of the home is unbelievable!!!
ReplyDeleteThis pictures are just so dreamy. I want to be everywhere at once!
