Good morning......Based in Cape Town, John Jacob Zwiegelaar set up his design firm in 2005. His glamorous style, known for the ultimate in bespoke design and with incredible attention to detail has taken him all over the globe. I love the way he layers rooms with so many interesting elements, it is impossible to look at one of his rooms at a quick glance and take it all in. You need to look at all the many elements of his rooms to understand the finished product, and the end result is always beautifully executed.
It appears he is most comfortable working with a neutral palette...lots of creams, grays, tone on tone, and earthy colors punctuate his rooms. His favorite style is contemporary classic though his works run the span from Belgian influenced design to neoclassical. One thing is for sure he has developed a winning combination in his approach to interior design. His interiors are just exquisite as you will see in this parade of works by John Jacob.....could you possibly choose a favorite?
I would be hard pressed but a contender for sure would be the putty/gray colored dining room with the beautiful table setting.....I could see myself having a dinner party there quite easily, but then I love that black kitchen, and really could see having a cocktail party in the black and white living room and oh that neutral colored bedroom with the canopy bed is so dreamy, and that luxurious sumptuous bath....oh well...too many to name just one.Take a look and let me know what you think!
So what do you think of his rooms? I think he has great style and a beautifully trained eye at creating elegant, non fussy interiors that are soothing and so inviting. One of the important hallmarks to me, of good design is that you actually want to linger in the room, not admire it frorm afar....... each and every one of these spaces just feels so liveable yet incredibly elegant. So do you have a favorite room? Have an enchanting day!
Beautiful! Just beautiful:)

ReplyDeleteThis designer does so well rooms using quite a few accessories, but not to feel overwhelmed or cluttered. I would feel so at home in any of these spaces. Beautiful........

He is new to me but I usually love S. African designers somehow - I think it's because of the combination of European, ethnic and coastal that makes it such a natural, yet sophisticated combination. His work is so stunning!!! I loved the second photo and the fourth - but they are all gorgeous in their own way!
ReplyDeleteNeutrals are my favorite. Just add few little blue and white and done! Great inspiration here, thanks!

ReplyDeleteI especially love the dining and bathroom with tub and hide. Perfect.
Have a great day, Tina.

The warmth of the room with the fire in the fireplace is not just from the flames...but the interesting mix of textures, modern and traditional touches and the great old portraits. I could see lingering there for many contented hours.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all the thought you put in these lovely posts. Checking out your blog is increasingly becoming a morning treat/treasure.
So serene, I love the kitchen and the dining room.
ReplyDeleteI promise I will come if you invite me but just one course for me!
Gorgeous! I love his style. As much as I love an elegant colorful fancy room when it comes to where I want to live I prefer more casual elegance and a neutral color palette. He does that beautifully! I could easily live in many of these rooms. I also spy some cozy nooks, which I love.
ReplyDeleteTina great design style, dreamy , comfortable, classic.

ReplyDeleteI literally want to jump INTO my computer screen every single time I read your blog. I love it. Thank you for making me smile daily. ♥
ReplyDeleteThe ultimate in CLASS, but not at all "offputting". He achieves a pinnacle of aesthetic without one bit of stuffy, formal, old fashioness. I too love the modernity of his rooms, but again, not at all minimalistic. Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteHe has great style. His use of texture to create warmth is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThese spaces are fabulous! I love what he does with those master baths! Enjoy the gorgeous day, Kellie xx
ReplyDeleteLovely - and many of the rooms feel like they have a British Colonial legacy.
ReplyDeleteI think Mr Jacobs has got some really great talent and I just adore his work!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I am loving the cages he uses over several of his over-sized lights. So appropriate for the spaces he uses them in to give it that certain edge.
ReplyDeleteThe black kitchen is one of my favorites too.
