Which would you choose?

Good Monday morning to you! Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was good...a perfect  combination of seeing friends, down time, a lazy Sunday and finally got to go to a movie last night! Saw The Descendants, which was fabulous! I loved it, a few people I know that saw it had mixed results, two really liked it, one said it was OK and one found it too depressing. It was poignant and the character that George played I thought was exceptionally graceful given the card he was dealt. I found it fascinating. To me its real life, George was amazing and it was a darn good movie, plus with the backdrop in Hawaii, who can complain!  Anyway because I am craving a getaway big time, I have daydreamed about everything from a jaunt to Paris to a perfect ski trip in the Rockies. I had so much fun putting this post together. Admittedly I do not enjoy skiing as I once did. Now if I go and its a big if,  the conditions have to be perfect, by that  I mean 55 degrees or higher, no moisture in the air, brilliant sunny skies, fluffy white powder to ski on, absolutely no ice, a perfect weather day oh and did I mention no one else on the trails that I ski on. Yea right, keep on dreaming, I know!

This brings me to my post today. Here's the deal...you and a group of your best girlfriends have decided to rent a luxury ski house for a long weekend (and I do mean luxury with a capital L), its a celebration of friendship and just so happens a few of you are also celebrating birthdays! So this week, you get to choose your ski house. I mean seriously I wouldn't even have to leave these houses, give me some great food, an unlimited amount of aromatic coffee, great board games, fun magazines, interesting reading material, and I am good. I will even stay and cook up a storm so that all you adventurers can come back to a bevy of amazing meals at the end of a day.   I will let the others go brave the elements, with a house like this to stay in...I will be happy camper just staying in! This will give new meaning to the words "cabin fever"..... So as difficult as it is, time to pick your ski house! Good luck!

A little "vent" here and a question to all bloggers who use the word verification when leaving comments...why all of a sudden is every word like a mini novel? I am having to spend more time figuring out the bleeping word than I did leaving the comment! Its so frustrating, is this a new Blogger thing???

Ugh...news flash to my family.... I might not be going home!  I may just decide to wing it out west and become a modern day cowgirl. Seriously how beautiful are these homes!!!  How fun would it be to hang out there for a long weekend with your nearest and dearest! Does anyone second a bloggers confernece in one of these snow palaces? Can't wait to hear which one you choose!

  1. I SECOND THAT EMOTION! I will meet you in that FIRST lodge for a blogger's conference my dear! YIKES, but every one of those places would suit me just fine!

HI TINA! HOW IS THE CASTLESTEAD?????? LOVE IT ALL!

Enjoy a relaxed Monday, sliding across those slick and elegant floors!!!!

  2. I really love #1, I think it is because it is decorated in a more classic traditional style.

  3. Hi, they are all incredibly beautiful. But somehow 4 really does it for me. I think its so appropriately "ski lodge" in how I envision it in my dreams that is! I love the outdoor areas as well. Oh what a fun weekend that would be! I also really liked The Descendants.

  4. These are amazing. We went to a beautiful home, kind of like these four years ago in Vail (husbands partners parents) for a long weekend. It was incredible. Skiing in Maine isn't the same as skiing out west, thats for sure. If I had to choose, 2 would be my choice but I would be so happy in any one of these.

  5. Number 3 would be my first choice if I skied. I'm a klutz and don't put slippery things on my feet!

    Happy Holiday!

  6. I would pick number 4 - it has all the perfect spots to relax (even if you went in the summer time - that outdoor dining space it AMAZING). M.

  7. Hi Tina. I will choose number 5 for sure but only if I could hop over to number one for a soak in that tub! Gorgeous, each one. I have to say number four is s very close second for me. Blogger conference would be fun in there as well. Stunning images...wherever do you find all this fabulosity...lol.

About those darn mini novels word verification affairs...what the hell?? drives me nuts... half the time I cant make them out even with my glasses on! and I feel so rude not to leave a comment...but honestly??

    Have a great week.

  8. I liked the first one!~they all are fabulous, but the first one had me at the get-go. No idea about the word verification, but it is almost impossible to decipher them. Bloggers need to eliminate the WV~they have to realize it cuts down on the comments! No fun.

  9. No question for me #1..... however when I vacation with 10 of my best young, buff MALE friends, we will go to #3 so we don't have to waste water.

  10. Those homes are so crazy gorgeous! I pick #1! When can you book it? I would love to take girlfriends vacation so a chic place like that!

  11. Hi Tina- this is really really hard. They are all increidble! But if I had to choose, I think I might go with 5, love the great room, that beautiful pool and that wine cellar sealed the deal! Have a great day and YES I agree about leaving comments being annoying with the new longer word verification, it now has me not visiting some of the blogs I regularly like to viist because I cannot figure it out!

  12. Darn your life is tough ha ha-it's choice 2 for me also love 4-right now I just trying to get my color back from being green with envy-Have a ball!!!

  13. Verification.... so annoying! :-)

I can't choose today! I love them all! What about we book of each every year? ;-)

Have a blessed week, sweetie and I'm happy you had some time to relax!

  14. Wow, in case you have 50 million lying around, these can be yours, too.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Number four seems "mountain castle-like" without being palatial in proportion like number five. Do like the ceiling heating in number 1 and the wine cellar dining in number 5 - but the master suite in 4 speaks to my heart (although the colors could use some warming up...)

  16. Love to dream....how fun! Tina, you make these so hard. Actually five years ago, we rented a darling home in Marthas Vineyard for my sisters 50th birthday and had a girls weekend, we all agreed it was our best vacation EVER!! (just didn't tell our kids and husbands that, hehe)

If you really want me to choose, will go with 1, the decor is amzing and those outdoor spaces are a dream.

    ReplyDelete
  17. WOW, love all of them and some of the outdoor space is awesome. BUT you asked which one so I thought I'd choose #3 with its gorgeous tub and shower until I saw #5. It has to be 5, staying in with that kitchen and great room and the view. For me, perfect!
    Have a great week Tina……

  19. Tina, I don't know what is going on with blogger, but it is a pain! All of these homes are to die for.Its always so hard for me to figure out which ones I like. I guess I would choose #3. I love the geometric rug.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Defs no. 5 for me! The bedroom is amazing and I love the kitchen. Plus the pool outside makes it perfect for all year round.

I'm like you, I am the après-ski, reading by the fire type. I don't like the cold. I don't get this sliding down a mountain on two sticks, lol!

  22. Your idea of a "ski vacation" is right there with my idea, staying inside, reading, bubble baths, just hanging out especially if i was in a home like these above! When I was 20 I was able to stick it out but at 44 who needs it!
Anyway love love love number 5. Its a winner for me.

  24. Since you're doing the cooking Tina, I'll let you pick your favorite kitchen, and that is where we will stay! (When ever we take a ski vacation, I end up doing the cooking for the six of us, after skiing all day.) I am partial to #1 though.

    ReplyDelete
  25. It is ridiculous, Tina! I agree! I bet a lot of people will not go through this to post a comment. I have disabled this on my blog.
I choose the first home. I could live there easily.
    Happy MOnday.

  29. I have to go with #5. The creamy color palette, the pool, that wine cellar would be wonderful! I live in the cold with the snow, far too long for it to be enjoyable. My get away might be the house, but not for the outdoor activities.

    ReplyDelete
  30. High Mountain Fabulous!
I would choose #5 - the pool and gounds make this a year round vacation dream!
Second choice - #3 - just for the shower alone! Excuse me while I spend the day in the shower!
Third choice -#1- views, views and more views!
Thanks for the chance to dream!

  33. I can't decide amongst the houses. I think I could be just fine in any of them!

And I'm with you, Tina. Those stupid words you have to try to decipher to leave a comment? Forget it. I just leave the site and move on. I mean, what's the point? WAAAYYY too much trouble.

  34. Tina- than you so much for mentioning that wrtechec word verification problem. I now refuse to visit blogs that have it, its become a chore. In fact I have noticed that the really popular blogs (yours is one of them) that has alot of comments doesn't use it so I cannot figure out why others do. I have to type and retype 3 or 4 times the darn word till I get it right, no more!
Now onto these killer ski houses. I wouldn't leave either! Number 1 and 5 get my vote, it is a dead even tie between them. Spectacular post!

    ReplyDelete
  35. This one was easy for me. I loved #5. I live in Colorado but I'm not crazy about the snow. #5 was beautifully decorated and there was no snow on the lawn. ha!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'll stop torturing myself and just choose #1 even though the Master Bedroom in #2 has me crying, the antler chandelier painted to look like coral in #3 is brilliant, the bar in #4 has me longing for Happy Hour, and the pool in #5 gives new meaning to the word 'wet dream'.

P.S. I'd happily be your sous chef! P.S.S. Is Locati offering you a rental discount?

  37. Ms Tina,

Thanks for showcasing Mountain Homes! Utah Welcomes your Son, he has some fresh powder to play in! I live in Park City, Utah and number one speaks to me because I went snowshoeing just yesterday with my darling on the Mountains that I look out of my home office to everyday! Much of those homes are like mine. From the stack rock, fireplaces inside and out. I do believe you can see a few pictures of my home both on my blog and on my FB fan page! So which was your pick? http://Lindaaburt.wordpress.com

Perhaps you need a winter home where you can ski in and out, to go along with your beautiful new home. (No I don't have one of those!)

    Smiles,
    Linda

  38. Thank you for having the courage to talk about Blogger's new word verification thingy. It is very hard now to prove you're not a robot. Sometimes I have to try five or six times and have even given up on occasion.

Hard to chose this time as I don't like to be cold. That's why we're not at home in the mountains this time of the year. But I would love any of the kitchens and porches. Porches are my current love "thing."

    Such a fun post..

P.S. Don't see much reason to use the verification..it is getting a bit frustrating trying to read the letters.

  41. Another choice of #1. It is quintessential...

    ReplyDelete
  42. HOW can I choose??? They are all magnificent but #1 gets my vote. I wouod LOVE to meet there for a getaway. I have never skiied though so would be right there with you in the kitchen cooking for the others:):) Soaking in a tub sounds heavenly and sipping wine outside next to the FP is my idea of luxury too. XO, Pinky PS, THANK YOU for mentioning the word verification thing. It DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!! No need for it at all. "prove you are not a robot????"

    ReplyDelete
  43. I am not a blogger but I would become one if you were holding a conference in any one of these, ha! I love them all but 1 stole my heart at first glance. I would be one happy girl to stay there! We go to Jackson Hole every March for our annual ski trip and there are many magnificent homes like these there. We get to "rough it" at the Four Seasons.

Tina, I agree about The Descendants, what a great movie. (also made me and hubs crave a trip to Hawaii) but I do hope George wins, think he deserves it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love the Descendants. We saw it the weekend it came out. And my husband does not really like movies but he liked it a lot too.

I would choose 1 because of that TUB surrounded by windows. LOVe that and would want to soak there after a long day of skiing.

As for the word verification, I am going to beg my peeps to take it off too because I cannot read those darned things. It makes me not want to comment anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  45. THANK YOU for mentioning the word verification. I am not a blogger but am a blog visitor and I cannot tell you how frustrating it is!!!!! I dont understand why people even have it. I have found that in recent days since they now make the words so long and barely legible I am staying away from blogs that I used to like to visit becaues I am spending too much time trying to type the word, then i get frustrated and leave! Glad you dont have it Tina.

Now which house I love....house 4 for me. The colors, how soft it is and forget those outdoor spaces, that is heaven!

    ReplyDelete
  46. #4. Ok, on to word verification. Some of my favorite blogs stil use it, and I'm this close to keeling them I can't comment anymore if they keep it on. I had to type FOUR tries last night on one blog because they suddenly got so much harder! All that time adds up! So I'm 100% with you!

  47. Number one is my extravagant choice! Love it and Yes love to attend a bloggers conference there!! How fun would that be... xv

    ReplyDelete
  48. I have to confess. I already have one in the San Juan Mtns .....but I could always dream about up-grading to one the size of #5

    ReplyDelete
  49. Number two, it seems the most inviting, although they each offered a serious invitation to sit down, put your feet up and relax! If in need of a backup, Number Five is also divine. (Gorgeous, all five are just super!)

    Sending you a smile,
    tp

    ReplyDelete
  50. The obvious choice for me would be #2 or #4, because there is no snow! I don't ski...Love the theater room of #2 and love the bedroom in #4...Although none are to shabby! I would love a dip in that pool of #5 *drooling*. But since I didn't receive an invite in the mail, I guess I'm stuck here in the midwest.

Now back to reality, the word verification thingy is VERY annoying, boy make a mistake there and you are sent back to word verification hell. It's like a never ending repeat of letters that make no rhyme or reason.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Tina Tina Tina, this has simply ruined my day !!! Of course, I want #1!
Now about the movies, I hope Brad wins this year, but feel The Artist will sweep everything else. Anyway, Moneyball is fabulous, so is Brad and Jonah Hill, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the coach is wonderful. Now, on the word jumble, I feel the same way, and suddenly everyone has to have word verification. What's up with this? Should we all go into our blog settings and remove this if it's there? xx's

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thank you for speaking out against word verficiation! I personally tend to now stay away from blogs that use it. I find it too annoying. I will not sit there and toy wtih the keys over a lousy comment. Bloggers IMO are losing out (the ones that use it)
These homes are unreal! I want one, OK I will even settle for a weekend in one. And my choice would be 4. I love every single thing about it. Hope you are enjoying YOUR beautiful magnficient new home, Tina! I would choose yours in heartbeat over any of these!

    ReplyDelete
  53. They are all amazing, do people actually have one as a second home?? LUCKY!!!! #5.....is the ultimate dream...it took my breath away. The pool just topped it all off..♥

    ReplyDelete
  54. #2, I want to stay in front of any of those fireplaces inside and outside.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Choice 3! It looks warm and snug. 1, 2, and 4 all look much too open, and therefore much too cold-- all those big glass windows, while pretty, would leak cold air. Choice 5 is okay, but a bit too bland and modern for me. Really, though, any one of them would be incredible!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I am stunned by all these divine houses and sorry to say I cannot choose between them! I would love to know who owns these fabulous dream homes! Stunning.

Sorry to say I found The Descendants to be a rather unimpressive flat movie. Love George of course, but thought the story line just did not hit the spot.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hey Tina- this IS a fun post. I am suddenly craving a ski vacation:-) We leave tomorrow for St. Thomas, and I am not complaining!
If I really had to choose just one, it would have to be 5. No 1. No 5, yes 5 is my final answer. The wine cellar, kitchen and pool cinched the deal.
Saw The Descendants on Sat. I am not a huge George Clooney fan but have to admit it was a darn good movie. He was very good in it, even my husband begrudginly admitted it (he didnt' want to see it). I also liked Moneyball, don't know if you have seen it?
    Enjoyed this fun post.

  58. Hi Tina,
Who could even choose...that may seem like I'm taking the easy way out, but I could see myself being happy in any of these gorgeous homes with my best girl friends or my family. Growing up in Colorado I would ski in any kind of weather. Now, if it's a goggle day...I probably wouldn't ski.

And thank you...I too have been wondering about that word verification thing. What is up with that? Very frustrating!

The long word verification is a new blogger thing. If you google "blogger new word verification" the results show a lot of other people hate it too. Maybe if enough ppl complain, Google will change it back.

  61. Hello Tina!

What a fabulous way to start a Monday, I simply cannot pick one!!! I could do with a nice week away at a lodge, I would not even leave the house. I would read books and watch movies.

I think you would enjoy Downton Abbey if you like period dramas. I am going to miss it on Sunday evenings as I love to close out my weekend with a bit of PBS.

I have a feeling my dear that we could be fabulous neighbors, you and I could spend our days baking, cooking and taste testing all of our yummy creations.

In between great conversations, trips to PAris and reading great books we would have a wonderful time.

    Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I choose #1. There's something about it that seems very cozy to me & I love the train bed too! I love Colorado although I do not ski. I tore my ACL just before my first law school finals when I went to Vail with my then boyfriend (now husband). It was me and all guys and the last girl he took out there was his ex girlfriend who was such a brat to him and all of his friends he broke up with her and vowed never to take a girl skiing again. Fast forward to me, trying to be cool & and our first run down, I ended up on the back of a toboggan pulled by ski patrol down a GREEN nonetheless. Soo embarrassing! After spending the morning in the Vail ER and finding out I tore my ACL, I redeemed myself by telling him to get me a couple magazines and something to wash down the pain killers and I'd sit on the bench at the bottom of the hill while he did a few runs with his friends. It was a sunny afternoon and I hadn't read a magazine in months thanks to studying so it wasn't bad and he called his parents that night and told them he met "the one." ;)

I gotta figure out how to turn the 'verification' thingy off... I hate it so much that I don't want to impose this on anyone else! Thanks you so much for sharing

  74. HI,
I love # 1, 2, and 5. I would love a Mora clock shown in choice #1. Can't make up my mind which one I like best. I live in Calgary Alberta Canada. We are only 1 hour from Banff and about 1 1/2 from Lake Louise. If you ever travel to Alberta you must stay at the Banff Springs Hotel, or the Chateau Lake Louise. Lake Louise has the best skiing. I don't ski anymore, but my kids love to snowboard. There are fabulous spas and hot spring pools for those who do not ski. We do have homes similar to these outside of the city on acreages (I don't live in one).
I do love the look of in interior stone wall, especially in a kitchen or front entry.
